Story
Looking to rehome the worlds best dog! Kiki is an Australian cattle dog Mix. She is 11 years old (5/20/2013) but still very young at heart. She is ESA Certified, does well with other dogs, and is honestly rather spoiled. Recently my partner was diagnosed with lung cancer and along with us having our first baby, we realized we cannot continue to offer her the best life she deserves. She comes with a lot of bells and whistles, a few allergies(wheat, dairy, chicken, and potatoes) as well as seasonal allergies. She is diagnosed with cellebrium hypeplasia which is a genetic mobility defect. But don’t let the big name fool you! She loves to run and spin and play just like any other dog. She has been our best friend for 11 years and deserves the very best home. We hate to see her go, but would love to see her happy and thriving again! She comes with 75lbs of specialty food, 2 orthopedic beds, an elevated food and water tray, bath and grooming accessories and a lot of love and life left.

Story
We rescued Ruby 2 years ago. I have other cattle dogs but this one needs land or a quiet home. I had her a farm in Oklahoma and she was happpy but it didn’t work out for personal issues so I took her back. She is very sweet and will snuggle in bed for hours but she has a high herding instinct and like other cattle dogs does not do well with new people or in a big group. Will only rehome to the perfect person.

Story
Meet Lennox! 🐾 Lennox is a 3-year-old Cattle Dog mix weighing in at 40 pounds. She’s spayed, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines and preventatives. This sweet, happy girl is an absolute joy and is sure to bring endless love and laughter to her forever family. A proud graduate of dog training program, Lennox is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows her basic commands. She’s smart, affectionate, and loves to please — especially when she’s getting plenty of love and attention in return! If you want to always be greeted with a smile and a happy wiggle butt when you come home, Lennox is your girl! She would thrive as the only pet in the home, as she prefers not to share her humans with other dogs or cats. A fenced yard would be ideal so she can stretch her legs and get the exercise she loves. Lennox is a people-focused pup who blossoms with structure, guidance, and companionship. If you’re ready to welcome this loyal, loving girl into your life, please start by submitting an adoption application on our website: www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. You’ll also find helpful adoption FAQs there, and meet-and-greets are arranged for approved applicants.

Story
Meet Leona! Leona is a 5 year old cattle dog/pitbull mix. Leona needs a home with no cats or small animals and no small children. She is still very much a puppy and loves to play. She loves people and loves to give kisses. She would do best in a fenced in yard. If you would like to make Leona a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  LEONA'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170   *Due to Covid 19 restrictions some of our new intakes vet scheduling has been delayed. We will still go ahead and schedule your meet and greet even if all the vetting needed has not been completed. Once vetting is complete the approved adopter will be able to take their dog/cat home to their forever home. The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am

Story
I adopted Koda from the Animal House Adoption Center 10 years ago, when he was about 1 year old. He is now 11 and has been a loyal companion through so much of my life. He is an Australian Shepherd mix with a sweet, affectionate personality and loves to cuddle and be close to his person. He enjoys walks, follows a daily routine well, and is fully potty trained, though he may mark in new territory at first. He will let you know when he needs to go out and when it’s time to eat. Koda used to do well with kids, but since I had my daughter, his behavior has changed and he has shown aggression toward her, likely due to stress or jealousy. Because of this, he needs a calm home without children or other dogs. He deserves a peaceful environment with someone experienced and patient. He has a history of pancreatitis and eats a vet-recommended diet. He does get anxious and car sick during rides. He would do best with someone who can give him space, stability, and love during his senior years.

Eve was adopted from the Kentucky Humane Society when she was 1 years old. We have had Eve for 10 years. When we adopted her, we also did have an adult male cat and Eve did well living with a cat. Eve has also been great with our son, who is now 3 years old. Eve has done well with other dogs but has always been the only dog in the household. She is trained and knows some commands and tricks. She enjoys playing and snuggling.

Story
Meet Beau: Beau is a sweet 2.5-year-old pup seeking his forever home! We adopted him as a puppy from the Kentucky Humane Society. He's the most gentle dog you'll ever meet, amazing with kids and other dogs—a true family dog. Our family recently welcomed a new baby, bringing our young children count to four. With all the happy chaos, we simply can't give Beau the attention he deserves. We would love to find him a home where he can receive more love and attention. We’re confident he will be a great addition to your family!
