Story
Hickory is the sweetest boy!!!  This Red Heeler boy pup is one of the sweetest boy pups and his tenderness makes him the puppy who loves being close to his people. When he’s let outside for playtime, his first instinct is to greet whoever is nearby—just to make sure they know he’s there. He can be a little shy at first, but once he realizes you’re safe, he quickly comes out of his shell and shows his affectionate side.   His back story is that he was found with his momma and her 6 puppies, on a country back road in Middle Tennessee, loose and running helter skelter.  This family of momma and 6 puppies were heartlessly dropped off for reasons we will never understand.  Momma is a pure bred Red Heeler called Red Sedona and also seeking a new and Heeler savvy, loving home.  The family was found on Feb. 13th and taken to the local small overcrowded shelter.  Two days later Critter Cavalry Rescue had a wonderful foster mom who helps with litters and their mommas, take them in and get them started on a good path of medical care and human love and socializing.   For a pure bred Heeler, Hickory is on the calmer side and definitely an observer.  At just 8 weeks of age he is only 7 pounds and one day should be a 30-35 pounds smaller Heeler. He would thrive with an active family that has space, a fenced yard and lots of outdoor time spent doing things that satisfies his herding nature and working breed traits.  He loves to explore and would love to have jobs to perform.  He is already showing those classic Heeler instincts by trying to herd the kids around the yard.  Dog savvy children will be fine with this.  After some much-needed playtime, Hickory is happiest snuggling up next to you for a cozy nap.  Because he comes from a highly intelligent breed of dog, you will need to be smarter than him at all times.  He is already catching on to potty training and knows that a crate is necessary for nighttime sleep and containment.  He is so compliant to all of the new training he is being taught.  He loves it.    Hickory is currently being fostered with young kids, large dogs, and a cat. He’s done well with everyone so far, though he’s still a little unsure about the cat and may bark. With proper introductions and a dog-savvy cat, we think he’ll adjust just fine.  If you are interested in adopting this very smart and sweet pup, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.  We adopt to not only our Tennessee residents where our rescue is located, but we adopt to the northeastern states as well.  If being adopted out of state, he will be ready early April.  If local to Tennessee, he is ready now to continue his training and bonding with a family in a new Tennessee home.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 8, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
Rocky’s story began when he was found in a very rural front yard—hungry, alone, but unbelievably sweet from the very first moment. He was taken to the local small town shelter for safety, but an experienced foster took one look at his sweet face and knew this boy needed more than a shekter kennel. She saw something special in him… and she was right. Rocky is a smart and striking 5-month-old Red Heeler mix, about 24 pounds, with the most adorable freckles and an expression that melts hearts instantly. He is affectionate and loves to snuggle just as much as he loves to run and play outside. Rocky enjoys his chew toys and, like most puppies, may occasionally snag a sock or blanket—but he’s doing wonderfully learning what’s his and what’s not. He does great in his crate, is progressing nicely with house training, and is eager to please. He plays well with other dogs and has been around cats in his foster home—curious but respectful, never aggressive. Rocky responds well to gentle verbal correction and truly wants to do the right thing. And when he wakes up? He has the sweetest little yawn that will make you smile every single time. This loving, highly intelligent puppy is ready to grow into a loyal, lifelong companion. If you’re looking for a best friend who will stick by your side for years to come, Rocky may be your perfect match. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com to learn more about adopting Rocky. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Hartman is a strong little pup in every way.  He is a Red Heeler through and through! Found with his Momma Red Heeler on a isolated country backroad in Middle Tennessee, he was part of a litter of 6 pups who were only 3.5 pounds when found..  Probably 4-5 weeks old.  That was Feb. 13th, 2026.  This little family was heartlessly dropped off for reasons the good humans in this world cannot understand.   The good samaritan who found them was kind enough to bring them to the already crowded rural shelter and within 2 days they were in the care of a wonderful Critter Cavalry Rescue foster home who helps with litters like this.  We have determined that perhaps the litter was born around the first of January 2025.  The story behind this throw away pure bred Red Heeler momma and her puppies will never be known but the future of their story will be shaped by Critter Cavalry's efforts to help raise these puppies in foster homes and find the puppies and their momma find perfect Heeler loving homes. This smart, energetic pup loves to be in the middle of the action and has already started showing off his natural herding instincts—he’s been known to help “round up” the kids in the yard.  Gently but with a purpose.  Some parents need the help and welcome it.  Others might not and the puppy can be shown that humans do not need the herding help.  Hartman was named this because he has a beautiful and perfect heart shaped spot on the top of his head.  As of March 6th he is 8 pounds and one day should be only 35 pounds tops.  So cute!  What his foster mom says, is that he would thrive in an active home, especially one with plenty of space to run and explore. A big yard or property where he can have a job would be a dream come true for this clever boy. Heelers are known for their intelligence, and Hartman is no exception—he’s eager to learn and loves to please his people.   After a good play session, Hartman is more than happy to settle in for some couch time and soak up all the affection he can get. He’s a sweet, loyal companion who enjoys being close to his humans. Hartman is currently being fostered with young kids, large dogs, and a cat. He’s done well with everyone so far, though he’s still a little unsure about the cat and may bark. With proper introductions and a dog-savvy cat, we think he’ll adjust just fine. If you’re looking for a handsome pup who is smart, loyal and ready for adventure—and cuddles—Hartman might be your perfect match!  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    We can adopt to Tennessee residents where he is fostered and we also transport to the northeast as well to families outside of Tennessee.  We transport most weekends.  Out of state adoptions will be ready around April 10th.      PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 9, 2026, 6:34 pm

Story
Out on a quiet country road in rural Tennessee, a tiny red dog stood guard over her six fragile, four-week-old puppies. Dumped without care and left to face the unthinkable, this brave little momma did the only thing she knew to do — she protected her babies with everything she had.   That beautiful girl is Red Sedona.   By what can only be described as a miracle, a kind passerby spotted the small family huddled together and stopped. Carefully lifting them into the truck, momma and babies rode to safety on the floorboard, leaving behind a fate that could have ended so differently. Because of that moment of compassion, Red Sedona and her six puppies were given a second chance.   At just 25 pounds, Red Sedona is a petite Red Heeler with a delicate frame and the most soulful eyes. She may be small, but her heart is mighty. She fiercely protected her puppies on that roadside, somehow keeping them safe from harm. And now, with her babies out of danger, her gentle and affectionate nature is shining through. She is one of the sweetest little girls you could ever meet — tender, devoted, and incredibly smart.   Sedona has been a remarkable mother, attentive and loving, always watching over her babies as if she would step in front of anything to keep them safe. She is good with other dogs, young, and ready to start the next chapter of her life. Once her milk has dried up a bit more, she will be spayed and ready for her forever home around March 10th.   Her six puppies — four boys and two girls — will also be ready for loving homes soon. This little family deserves Heeler-savvy homes that understand the loyalty, intelligence, and devotion this breed is known for.   Red Sedona has done her job. She saved her babies. Now it’s her turn to be cherished, protected, and loved for the rest of her life.   If you feel called to welcome Momma Red Sedona or one of her precious puppies into your home, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   Let’s make sure this brave little girl’s story ends the way it should — safe, loved, and finally home.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 11, 2026, 12:09 am

Hagen Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Mix Age: 2y+/-, Male Weight: 45 pds Medical: UTD on all vaccines, Neutered, microchipped Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes; but dog selective Kid Friendly: Unknown, Recommending Ages 12+ Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Cape Cod, MA Hagen is a confident youngest for a cattle dog around new people. He is open to meeting both people and exploring new environments. His one negative is that he does like to bark, especially when he needs to go the bathroom or hears loud noises or other dogs going out. He is very playful, and recently started showing interest in toys and he LOVES to steal things when you’re not looking and run away with them (paper towel, broom, duster, etc). His name should be changed to Bandit, LOL! He is dog selective and is has some fear reactivity when leashed and/orconfined in crate but it’s very manageable. Hagen is a pup that still has a lot of learning to do as he came from a backyard breeder only to be dumped i

Story
Name: Jack Breed: ACD Labrador Mix Age/Sex: 2.5 years; Male Weight: approximately 50lbs Medical: up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped Cat Friendly: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes Crate Trained: Yes, however, freaks out and barks a lot House Trained: In Training Location: Alabama Jack and his sister Jill are two of many unfortunate dogs that found themselves abandoned by their owners and then brought to a high kill shelter in the South. His sister, Jill, was lucky to be adopted. Jack, though, was what we call an eleventh-hour rescue. We had a fabulous foster step up for him before he ran out of time. Now this handsome devil is looking for his forever home! Jack is a Velcro dog with some anxiety. He wants to be with his person all the time. He loves cuddling and playing with toys. He walks wonderfully on lead and does not pull. He is not a barker, except in the crate. He loves playing with other dogs and is very gentle with small dogs and cats. Jack is not food or toy aggressive. He is an inquisitive dog that loves figuring things out. He is very playful and does not jump on people. He loves to climb, and because he feels like a Mountain Climber in Training we are currently working on not jumping on tables. He is treat-motivated and knows the following commands: come and sit. You honestly could not ask for a bigger love bug and he loves to give kisses! He is an explorer that likes to go on expeditions when left alone, so though he may not love his crate it is best to crate him when he is left alone, or your home may not be left in the same condition! Jack is also a crowd pleaser and loves to meet strangers! He loves people of all ages. Do be warned, he prefers not to sleep alone, so be ready for company! After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family. If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered. Jack’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and Spay/Neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and $100 deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
