Hagen Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Mix Age: 2y+/-, Male Weight: 45 pds Medical: UTD on all vaccines, Neutered, microchipped Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes; but dog selective Kid Friendly: Unknown, Recommending Ages 12+ Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Cape Cod, MA Hagen is a confident youngest for a cattle dog around new people. He is open to meeting both people and exploring new environments. His one negative is that he does like to bark, especially when he needs to go the bathroom or hears loud noises or other dogs going out. He is very playful, and recently started showing interest in toys and he LOVES to steal things when you’re not looking and run away with them (paper towel, broom, duster, etc). His name should be changed to Bandit, LOL! He is dog selective and is has some fear reactivity when leashed and/orconfined in crate but it’s very manageable. Hagen is a pup that still has a lot of learning to do as he came from a backyard breeder only to be dumped i

Story
Name: Charlotte Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Age/Sex: 7.5 years; Female Weight: 50lbs Medical: up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped Cat Friendly: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: 10+ Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: Maine Meet Charlotte – Loyal & Energetic Cattle Dog Mix Looking for a Calmer Home 🐾 Charlotte is a beautiful 7-year-old cattle dog mix in need of a quieter, more structured home. Charlotte would do best in a home with one or two adults. She tolerates other animals (currently lives with both a dog and cats), but it’s clear she’d prefer to be the only pet. She’s not outwardly aggressive, but she is reactive—especially in overstimulating or chaotic environments. She is a typical Cattle Dog. She’s incredibly smart and playful, and she loves to run, fetch, and play tug-of-war. As a cattle dog she can be nippy (a herding trait), but she’s never bitten. That said, she’s not a good fit for homes with young children or high activity levels. Charlotte does have arthritis in her hind knees—her left knee is worse than the right—so while she still enjoys playtime, she’ll need a home that can help her balance activity with rest. She also recently had the tip of her tail amputated due to injury, but it’s healing wonderfully and hasn’t slowed her down. Charlotte will thrive with someone who has experience herding breeds and who can provide her with a calm, predictable environment where she can feel safe and understood. Name: Jack Breed: ACD Labrador Mix Age/Sex: 2.5 years; Male Weight: approximately 50lbs Medical: up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped Cat Friendly: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes Crate Trained: Yes, however, freaks out and barks a lot House Trained: In Training Location: Alabama Jack and his sister Jill are two of many unfortunate dogs that found themselves abandoned by their owners and then brought to a high kill shelter in the South. His sister, Jill, was lucky to be adopted. Jack, though, was what we call an eleventh-hour rescue. We had a fabulous foster step up for him before he ran out of time. Now this handsome devil is looking for his forever home! Jack is a Velcro dog with some anxiety. He wants to be with his person all the time. He loves cuddling and playing with toys. He walks wonderfully on lead and does not pull. He is not a barker, except in the crate. He loves playing with other dogs and is very gentle with small dogs and cats. Jack is not food or toy aggressive. He is an inquisitive dog that loves figuring things out. He is very playful and does not jump on people. He loves to climb, and because he feels like a Mountain Climber in Training we are currently working on not jumping on tables. He is treat-motivated and knows the following commands: come and sit. You honestly could not ask for a bigger love bug and he loves to give kisses! He is an explorer that likes to go on expeditions when left alone, so though he may not love his crate it is best to crate him when he is left alone, or your home may not be left in the same condition! Jack is also a crowd pleaser and loves to meet strangers! He loves people of all ages. Do be warned, he prefers not to sleep alone, so be ready for company! Latte Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Mix Age: 1 years old +/- Weight: 45 lbs Medical: Up To Date on Vaccinations, microchipped, neutered Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Yes Kid Friendly: Yes, Recommend 10+ House Trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Location: Maine Latte is the epitome of a cattle dog. Energetic, vocal, strong, busy and very forthcoming with his affection towards people. He will even sit in chairs with you and get as close as possible in bed. Body slamming is another way he shows his love for you. If you're playing tug of war, he will always be the champ! Fetch is his all-time favorite, and he will go get the ball and bring it back for hours if you wanted. Anything you're doing he wants to do. Playing in or with water or even jumping on a trampoline. Latte loves children and their energy but older children only, due to his rough play. Recommend that he is the only dog or with another of the same nature. He can get distracted by herding or wrestling the other dog which deters his listening skills. No cats or small animals. He is crate trained and very good with learning new things. A strict food and potty schedule work best for him. Happiness radiates off of him, and he would do well with someone who can match his energy and strength. He is a great listener and crates well. He does still need more leash training. He has a lot of possibilities; this sweet boy is a blank slate looking for a job! If you enjoy doing dog sports, this would be your boy! Story
Name: Maile Breed: Cattle Dog Mix Age/Sex: ~4.5 yrs old F(s) Weight: 72# and going down! Medical: possible arthritis in back left leg Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: No Kid Friendly: No Crate Trained: Yes House Trained: Yes Location: New Jersey Bio: The name "Maile" is Hawaiian. People from Jersey pronounce it "Miley". She had a rough start, being bought from a pet store and then kept in a bedroom. At around 2 yrs old she landed herself in the shelter circulation... for 2 1/2 years. She gained a bit of weight in the shelter. Maile has lost 11+ lbs since she's been in a home on the correct diet. Maile has been in a foster home for almost 3 months now, and is doing absolutely fabulous! She's currently on Tase of the Wild Ancient Grains with Salmon, with some pure pumpkin mixed in. She also gets a hip & joint supplement as she may have arthritis in her back left leg. Maile knows sit, stay, paw, other paw, high five, down, spin, get it, and place. She is currently attending basic training classes at J&R Kennel in Lakehurst where she's learning something new every week! She does have a very high prayer drive, but listens to and adores her handler. She is always ready for work, and loves to learn new things! Although she has the cattle dog energy, she also loves to just lay around the house. She is obsessed with toys, and very good with them! She is non-destructive in and of the home, and goes right in her crate when she sees you getting ready to leave. She is a little nervous if there's a bad storm coming, but she's fine with fireworks and any other loud noises. I'm sure she would love to sleep with her human at night, but I don't think she ever has. Currently, her bedtime is 10 PM and she goes right in her crate. I think she would love to go swimming, but she is deathly afraid of towels, so drying her off would be a hurdle! Maile would do great in a home with breed experience, no other pets, no kids, and preferably women only. She needs someone who understands her, someone who will have her meet company outside with treats, or just put her away when company comes over. She is also sensitive to touch in some spots, and needs someone who will go very slow with her, and continue training her with the basket muzzle. She has a lot of little quirks, half of which is because she was not probably socialized, and the other half is just because she's a cattle dog!
