Story
Hello there, I'm Ricky. I've always been a bit shy, preferring quiet corners to boisterous crowds. But don't let my reserved nature fool you, I'm a quick learner and love to solve puzzles. I'm also pretty independent, comfortable with my own company, but I do love a good scratch behind the ears now and then. While I may not be the life of the party, I promise to be a loyal and steadfast companion. If you're looking for a dog who's low-key yet intelligent, who can keep himself entertained but also appreciates your company, then I'm your guy. Adopt me, let's make memories together.

Story
Whisper is a 35 pound, 6 year old Cattle Dog Mix with gorgeous markings and the very best smile !! This sweet soul had a rough start to her life, and so she can take a moment to warm up to new people and situations. She is flourishing in her foster home, and she is learning how to dog. It’s precious. She gives the most endearing kisses and hugs; and she has the most adorable slow tail wag when she’s happy. We adore her. Whisper is doing a fantastic job with her house training; she eats and sleeps in her crate but doesn’t like to be left in it alone, but she does great when left out. She does very well with other dogs. She would prefer a home without very small children. Whisper is spayed and up to date on shots. Her adoption fee is $250. Story
Did you know that the ivy plant is a symbol of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty? An inspiring name for a charismatic pooch such as myself! Being the young lady that I am, an active family would be a match made in heaven! Play time is quite possibly my favorite time of day (sometimes I get a bit carried away with my plushy toys). I like to live life enthusiastically, having a positive direction for my gusto would be the ultimate delight for me! Although physical activity is an absolute riot, having a cool down period with some mental games is a good time too. At the end of the day, I just want to be involved with my people. I am not one to turn down a snuggle session by any means. What can I say, I am a sweetheart after all. I hope to find a family that wants to understand and accepts me for the glorious rescue dog that I am. For instance, I like some other dogs, but not every dog. Smaller dogs (and cats for that matter) remind me of chicken nuggets, I can't help but feel some prey drive there. But some other dogs my own size are fun to hang out and play with. I suppose that its pretty normal to not get along with everyone you meet in life though. Whether or not you are a botanical enthusiast, if you are looking for a forever companion submit your adoption application for the perfect furry addition! DOB: 5/25/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
Meet Cooper; She is very sweet girl, who is looking for her fur-ever home. We believe she is around 3-4 years old and is a cattle dog mix. She came to us when her owner passed away and the other owner couldn’t care for her. Due to her breed or mix of breeds we are looking for a very specific home for her where she will be set up best for success! Cooper is pretty reactive towards people on leash and will nip at shins or ankles. She enjoys lots of exercise, biking right now seems to be her favorite. She’d probably do best as an only dog, as loves all the attention on her! She has had some interaction with other dogs on leash and she will correct them if their energy becomes to much for her.   Cooper also needs a kid free home.   We are requiring that her fur-ever home have heeler experience and be committed to getting her the training that she needs. Cooper will also need someone who is willing to do some training with her. **Cooper being a heeler mix does have high herding tendencies, and has a single “bite history” as she nipped someone in the calf.     An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; and heartworm testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.July 26, 2024, 4:23 pm
