Story
Looking for a canine partner that is already professionally trained? Look no further than Vinny! Vinny came to Sanctuary One from a high kill shelter back in June. The shelter staff sent numerous videos of him interacting with dogs, children etc. and he did great! Once he arrived he was fine with our other shelter dogs and staff. Vinny was adopted but returned because he started resource guarding food, toys etc. This was not a behavior we had seen from him prior to being adopted. Our volunteer dog trainers from Companion Canine took Vinny home for a 2 week crash course where he learned to have manners and we found out that he is really smart and loves his training sessions! Here is the video the trainers made of him: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-FxCGpywk_f13IbfggqC2cMwZiCIAl-_/view Vinny is an amazing little guy but will need an adopter that is willing to keep up on his training. He is super smart and would excel in scent work or advanced obedience training. He has retained all of his training since he has been back with us. Vinny is very sweet, he loves to give hugs! If Vinny sounds like a match for you, please put in your Adoption Application today: https://sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/

Story
Meet Fables — a gentle soul with a story worth telling. Fables came to us after being found on HWY A-12, bravely wandering alongside two younger puppies who looked to her for guidance. Even in the toughest moments, she stayed patient and protective. Since arriving at the ranch, she’s shown us exactly who she is: a quiet hero with a heart full of love. This sweet girl gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has a soft spot for playful pups. With people, she starts off a little shy — but once she trusts you, she blossoms. Fables just needs someone willing to move at her pace, offer kindness, and show her she’s finally safe. Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Walks. The moment you pick up the leash, she lights up, wagging her whole body with joy. Out on the trail, she becomes her best self: confident, curious, and genuinely happy. Fables is a medium-energy rescue dog who would thrive with a patient, understanding handler who can help her continue to build confidence. She’s the type of dog who will reward your compassion tenfold — with loyalty, gratitude, and those full-body wags that make every day brighter. If Fables sounds like the kind of dog you’d love to welcome into your heart and home, give the ranch a call today. She’s ready for her next chapter… she just needs someone willing to turn the page with her. Story
Meet Akira! A  gentle and sweet medium-sized companion who will stick to you like glue . Though she can be a bit shy when meeting new people, this true "velcro" dog transforms into the ultimate cuddler once she feels safe, happiest when curled up right by your side. About Akira Personality: Sweet, gentle, and inherently shy. She takes time to warm up to strangers but offers unmatched loyalty once she trusts you. Cuddler Extraordinaire: She is a classic "velcro dog" who loves following her favorite humans around, leaning in for pets, and curling up on the couch. Social Butterfly: Akira gets along beautifully with other dogs and loves having canine siblings around to share her space. Size: Perfectly medium-build—big enough for outdoor adventures, yet the ideal size for snuggling in bed or on the floor. Akira's Ideal Home: Akira is looking for a patient and loving family who will help her blossom. Because of her shy nature, she would thrive in a calm, predictable household where she can set her own pace. She would be over the moon in a home with another friendly dog to show her the ropes, or as the devoted, constant shadow of her favorite human. Thank you for considering adopting a Rescue Ranch dog.
