Story
Barkley is a sweet, affectionate, and loyal boy who loves to be with his people and explore the outdoors. He is looking for a loving home where he can be the only pet. He is fully house trained and can be left alone for 8 hours at a time but has a history of separation anxiety and would do best having someone at home with him for the first few days at least. He is not crate trained, does well with free run of the house, and is non-destructive. Barkley is very calm but gets excited around new people and jumps up, but he responds well to being pushed down. He is gentle with children but should be supervised. A fenced yard would be ideal as he is very independent outdoors and does not have reliable recall. He loves to go for walks/ jogs! He pulls at first on leash but settles in. On walks he is non-reactive and friendly when greeting other dogs. He gets cozy and super snuggly on the couch and human bed, lets you give him lots of hugs and kisses (the perfect therapy after a long day)!

Story
Luna is 6 years old. She is a pure-bred Australian Cattle Dog. She is extremely loyal to those she loves. She is trained on an off leash. She responds to commands very well. She knows: Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Place, Roll Over, Wait, Kiss, Paw, and much more. She can be very loving when she wants to, and loves to be around those she loves at all times. She is not friendly toward strangers and those she does not know. She would need someone who is willing to build the relationship with her. She is not very loving towards kids. She is not aggressive, but does not know how to control her body or actions around them. She is a very anxious dog as well. She is on anxiety medication to help. The right home would be either an individual, or couple with no plans for kids. She would be a great dog for the right fit.

Story
Blue was adopted from the Animal Shelter in 2016, now 9 years old. She still loves to be active and enjoys a good session of fetching a ball but doesnt last as long as she used to before she is ready to be petted and rest. She is used to being outside all day and kenneled inside at night. She would enjoy being inside more but that hasnt been our style of dog ownership. Our life has changed due to kids growing up; we feel Blue is lonely and we cant give her the time/ companionship she deserves-she would live a fuller enjoyable life if she had other dog(s) companion around. She has typical cattle dog traits, enjoys a good round of fetch, knows many tricks, super smart, enjoys company, not a continual barker thankfully.

Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided below.Patches is a young blue heeler/pit bull terrier mix. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is very friendly, loves dogs, and plays with children and cats. While she can be somewhat hyper, she can follow basic commands such as sit, howdy, and lay down. The owner has trained her not to jump on her, but when company comes, she gets excited and will jump. She loves to show affection by licking. The owner unfortunately cannot deal with her hyperness in the house, so she is chained up outside. Her chain reaches all the way to the front porch, and she has a small front yard. She uses the bathroom outside, but when she was smaller, she was kept in the house and she was fully housebroken. When the owner's health permits, Patches goes for walks. She walks well with a training collar. The owner feels that Patches would be happier in an environment where she could have more freedom (e.g., a fenced-in yard), and with people who have more energy to deal with her. She is a very loving dog that just needs the right people. If you are interested in Patches, please email stephanie@heartofthefoothills.org

Story
Cowboy is a smart, active, and loyal 4-year-old Australian Shepherd looking for his perfect home. He loves fetch, walks, and would thrive with an active owner and a big fenced yard. It breaks my heart to rehome him, but Cowboy isn’t a fit for a home with young children. He has shown discomfort around kids and has a history of nipping, so he’ll do best in an adults-only household or with older, respectful teens. Cowboy prefers to meet new people and dogs on his own terms—he’s not instantly friendly if approached directly, but once he warms up he’s loving and playful. Cowboy is due for his yearly vaccinations but is otherwise healthy and ready for his next adventure. With the right home, he’ll give back loyalty, fun, and plenty of love.

Story
Max is a purebred Australian Shepherd, approximately 18 months old. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. We adopted Max one year ago as a companion for our other dog. We got him when he was 6mo old from a young couple who were rehoming him due to relocating. We love Max very much, and he is the sweetest, most loving boy! We are sad to let him go, but in the last year, I have realized that he needs more dedicated personal attention and space than I can give him. I am a single parent of 3, I work full-time as well as 2 side part-time jobs. My home conducive to his size and energy level. Max is a working dog and needs to have lots of interaction and personal attention to thrive. He is high energy, loves other dogs, people and kids. He is eager to please and very smart. Has been trained, but I have not kept up with it consistently and he will need refreshing. Behavior issues are mainly jumping/chewing - typical puppy behavior fixed with time/training.
