Story
Diamond and Ricie are Cattle Dog sisters. They were reported to GCHS as strays in the Bean Station area that had a litter of pups under a house trailer.  Upon volunteers arriving, it was determined that both sisters had had litters under the trailer within hours of each other. 19 healthy puppies approximately 48 hours old were recovered.  Jefferson City Humane Society and Blount County Humane Society assisted in fostering/rehoming moms and some of the puppies!    GCHS fostered these 5 cuties, and they are ready for adoption!  Meet Reese, Rain and their 3 brothers Roan, Riker and Ransom.  Approximate birthday 12/01/23.  Pups get along great with each other and love to run and play.  Full of energy, they are outgoing and don't shy away from people or other dogs.  Mothers were very outgoing and had a great disposition and just loved humane attention.  Puppies love it too!Out of respect for our foster’s time and privacy we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an application on file. Therefore the first step in our adoption process is to fill out the form on our website. We have one form that is printable and one that is an on-line fillable form. Our agency is ran by volunteers. We will get back to you as quickly as we can. If you have specific questions please email us at graingerhumane@yahoo.com. We do not have a shelter location with regular hours. All of our dogs are in foster homes. All dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before adoption. https://graingercountyhumanesociety.org/available-dogsApril 14, 2024, 6:28 pm

Story
Kojack is an adorable and energetic little canine companion! With his herding breed background, specifically the Australian Cattle Dog lineage, it`s no surprise that he has a strong instinct to nip and herd. Understanding a dog`s breed characteristics is crucial when it comes to training and caring for them effectively. In the case of Kojack, his tendency to nip is a natural behavior tied to his herding instincts, as herding dogs are bred to control the movement of livestock by nipping at their heels. For individuals considering adopting Kojack or any other herding breed, it`s essential to research and understand the breed`s traits, temperament, and exercise needs. Herding dogs like Kojack are known for their intelligence, energy, and loyalty but can also exhibit stubbornness if not properly trained and mentally stimulated. Potential owners should be prepared to provide ample physical exercise, mental stimulation, and consistent training to ensure a happy and well-adjusted companion. If you`re up for the challenge of owning a spirited herding dog like Kojack, meeting him in person can be the first step towards building a rewarding relationship with a unique and active furry friend.
