Callie is a sweet girl who gets along with other dogs. She is a talker. When she chases she barks with joy. She does love hugs and jumping up. Callie did have a case of happy tail that caused her tail to get an infection, so she is on antibiotics. Would have to be very careful when kenneling her because she could injure it again. would prefer not to be mothered, does better with male dogs

Story
Meet Mark!Mark is a 8-year-old male Heeler mix who was picked up by Animal Control in Union Gap. Sadly, no owner ever came forward for him, but he’s now on the road to a brighter future. When Mark first arrived, he was dealing with a painful abscess on his leg. Thanks to the care and treatment from our YHS clinic staff, he’s feeling much better and more comfortable now. The adoption center environment has been a bit overwhelming for him, and Mark can be unsure of what’s expected in such a busy setting. He’s quiet in his kennel and does best when handled slowly and calmly, as too much excitement can make him feel scared.Mark will thrive in a quiet, patient home that can help him feel safe, secure, and loved as he continues to build confidence. A fenced yard is a must, as we want Mark to be able to relax and feel secure while he settles in with his forever family. With time, understanding, and gentle care, Mark has the potential to be a deeply loyal and loving companion. This pet is available for adoption on 12/29/2025 11:04 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Franklin!Franklin is a 5½-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a big heart packed into a small frame. This sweet boy is full of charm and loyalty—always ready to brighten your day with his gentle nature and playful spirit. Franklin loves being around his people, whether it’s for a cozy cuddle or a fun adventure outdoors. His intelligent eyes and affectionate personality make him the perfect companion for anyone who appreciates a loving, devoted friend. If you’re looking for a pup who’s as sweet as he is smart, Franklin is your guy! Please do your breed research before applying to adopt. Australian Cattle Dogs and other herding breeds are special dogs with special requirements. These dogs were bred to have a job, and without the right activity level/purpose they won’t flourish which can lead to issues down the road. Herding dogs are incredibly smart and need to be challenged both physically and mentally to really be happy. Even though each dog is a unique individual, don’t forget, they were bred to herd things and can at times be mouthy and/or nippy. Cattle Dogs are a fun, active breed that many have fallen in love with over the years, but please keep their breed needs in mind if you are considering adding one to your household. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane-Ellensburg Shelter If you recognize this animal, please contact the adoption center at 509-925-7387 Ready to adopt?
