Story
Meet Cowboy, a three-year-old Cattle Dog/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix weighing 50 pounds.Cowboy is a great medium-sized boy with a friendly, outgoing personality and a whole lot of charm packed into his compact build. He’s social, engaging, and enjoys being part of whatever is going on around him. He already knows “sit,” and with his eagerness and smarts, he’s a solid candidate for continued training and learning new skills.Like many dogs with his breed tendencies, Cowboy can have a bit of a stubborn streak—but that’s completely normal for him. He’s intelligent, independent, and thrives when given clear guidance, consistency, and positive reinforcement. With the right approach, that stubbornness often turns into confidence and clever problem-solving.Cowboy also has eye-catching markings and a sturdy, athletic frame that reflect his working-dog background. Based on his appearance and personality, he likely has traits commonly seen in both Australian Cattle Dogs and Catahoula Leopard Dogs—two breeds known for their intelligence, energy, loyalty, and strong herding instincts.Australian Cattle Dogs are highly intelligent, energetic herding dogs bred for endurance, problem-solving, and working closely with people. They are loyal, alert, and often strong-willed, requiring consistent training and mental stimulation. Catahoula Leopard Dogs are Louisiana-bred working dogs known for their striking coats, independence, and strong herding and hunting instincts. They are smart, driven, and can be stubborn, but tend to bond deeply with their people when properly guided. Both breeds typically do best in homes that provide structure, activity, and ongoing engagement—things Cowboy is likely to thrive with.If you’re looking for a fun, smart, active companion with personality, presence, and a little bit of sass, Cowboy is ready to ride into his next adventure. This pet is available for adoption on 4/18/2026 at 4:01 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Callie is a sweet girl who gets along with other dogs. She is a talker. When she chases she barks with joy. She does love hugs and jumping up. Callie did have a case of happy tail that caused her tail to get an infection, so she is on antibiotics. Would have to be very careful when kenneling her because she could injure it again. would prefer not to be mothered, does better with male dogs
