She came to rescue under heartbreaking circumstances—emaciated and exhausted, yet still devotedly caring for her five tiny puppies in the shelter. Thanks to incredible veterinary care and her own quiet strength, Shauna has made a full recovery and is now healthy, happy, and ready for the next chapter of her life. Throughout it all, Shauna has been the very definition of a good mom: sweet, patient, and endlessly loving. Her puppies are now weaned and ready for adoption, and it’s finally Shauna’s turn to be someone’s cherished companion. At about 45 pounds, she’s the perfect medium size—easy to live with and a joy to be around. Shauna is house trained, fully vet checked, current on vaccines, licensed, and microchipped. She warms up quickly, bonds deeply, and has a calm, affectionate presence that makes everyone around her feel at ease. Shauna doesn’t ask for much—just a safe home, a soft place to rest, and people to love. In return, she offers loyalty, gentleness, and a grateful heart that will remind you every day what a gift rescue truly is. Story

Lumi came to us after being humanely trapped off the freeway in Phoenix, and from the very beginning, we knew she was something special. She’s a young pup, around 6–9 months old and we suspect she may be an Australian Kelpie and/or Chocolate Labrador mix. At first glance, Lumi is a little shy, but don’t let that fool you. Once she feels safe, she is a big-time lover, incredibly sweet, gentle, and deeply affectionate. She has the kindest soul, loves people and other dogs, and carries a quiet magic you don’t come across every day. We named her Lumi because we rescued her the night before the Snow Full Moon, and the name means “snow” and “light.” It fits her perfectly, soft and luminous. A true light. While trapping her, we quickly learned that Lumi is very talented at fitting through tiny spaces, and once she arrived at the sanctuary, she proudly showed us another skill, scaling fencing. Our girl is an escape artist with athleticism and intelligence to match. Because of this, we’ve made the decision to set her up for long-term success by sending her to board and train with our friends at Sofus Dog Training. There, she’ll be working on building confidence, learning boundaries, adding structure to her routine, and mastering basic obedience. You don’t come across dogs like Lumi every day.
