Story
Rocky is a handsome Australian Shepherd with a tender heart and a story of resilience. Having come from an abusive past, Rocky needs time, patience, and understanding to build trustâ&#194&#128&#194&#148but once that bond forms, it is incredibly rewarding. He has been thriving in his foster home for the past two and a half months, where consistent care has helped him come out of his shell. While he may be timid when meeting new people, Rocky is a true sweetheart who blossoms with a calm, gentle approach and will need a slow, relationship-focused adoption process. In his foster home, Rockyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s wonderful personality shines. He is intelligent, loyal, cuddly, playful, and deeply devoted to the people he trusts. Rocky is highly treat and affection motivated and is already learning commands like sit and (lay) down. He is crate trained and mostly house trained, does well on road trips, and continues to make steady progress with walking nicely on a leash. Rocky enjoys engaging with his people and takes pride in pleasing them, making him a great companion for someone who appreciates a smart dog eager to learn and connect.Rocky does well with his female foster dog friend, happily sharing toys and space without any signs of aggression, though his comfort with male dogs is unknown. Rocky has lived with 4 cats, but he does tend to chase them. He has never hurt them. We recommend a very slow introduction with proper training so both Rocky and the cats can be comfortable in the home. True to his herding instincts, Rocky enjoys keeping watch over his home, alerting to visitors with a strong bark and shooing wildlife off of the property without aggression. He has done well meeting visitors and often relaxes enough to accept pets or share the couch, with time. Rocky prefers the company of teens or adults, has limited experience with young children, and would thrive in a home with a securely contained large yard or property where he can safely explore and feel at ease. If you are interested in committing to the gradual adoption process Rocky requires, his foster family is available to facilitate the multiple in-home meetings he may need. Rocky will need time to become comfortable, build trust, and form a connection through several visits. If this is something you are willing and able to pursue, please contact El Dorado County Animal Services (530) 621-5795January 20, 2026, 2:58 pm

Story
Meet DollyAn older Australian Shepherd mix with a gentle soul and a heart ready for retirement.Dolly is bigger than your typical Aussie at about 75 pounds, but don’t let her size fool you—this girl is all about calm, easy living. She walks nicely on leash, happy to stroll at her own pace, and in the play yard she prefers to mosey around quietly, doing her own thing. No wild zoomies here—Dolly has gracefully left the chaos of puppyhood behind. What Dolly wants most is simple: a peaceful home, a comfy spot to rest, and a person who appreciates the beauty of a mellow companion. She has an easy, steady energy that makes her a wonderful match for someone looking for a low-key dog to share quiet days, gentle walks, and cozy evenings. If you’re searching for a soft, steady presence to add to your life, Dolly is ready to settle in and call you home. This beautiful girl recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine.  She wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as she gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, she’ll be ready to show us her silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too.
