HIGHLIGHTS:Needs patient, experienced adoptersNeeds an active homeCan go home with another dog or alonePrefers to go to a home with a fenced-in yard Livy is a stunning 2-year-old Australian Shepherd weighing 30 pounds. Livy is a wonderful dog who LOVES being around her humans. She is affectionate and playful. If given the choice, she would play fetch for hours! We really think she missed her calling as a ball fetcher for Major League Baseball. She also loves treats but can be picky about sharing them. She is insecure about high value resources like bones or especially tasty food being taken from her, but the NMDR behavior team will talk you through what to do to manage this behavior and help her feel more secure.Livy is extremely intelligent and athletic. She would do best in an active home where she can join you on your outdoor adventures! She walks wonderfully on leash and really enjoys being outside. She'd also thrive in a home with a fenced yard where she can get her daily fix of fetch and fresh air. She would benefit from plenty of mental stimulation like puzzle toys, agility training, or frozen kongs to challenge that brilliant brain of hers. We like to say that she needs a job because she is so intelligent, focused, and determined. Livy tends to feel more comfortable around women, but does warm up fairly quickly to men if they bribe her with snacks. Once she has accepted you into her circle, Livy wiggles her butt with joy at the sight of you and wants to be scratched and cuddled. She could do well as the only dog in a home or would be happy to gain some canine siblings, especially if they're energetic and will play with her! Due to her insecurities around high value resources, Livy will need any children in the home to be old enough to respect her boundaries (14+).Livy is the sweetest girl and has so much potential just waiting to be unlocked in a loving, understanding home. If you would like to meet Livy, please apply at NMDR.org. We think you will fall in love like we have!- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Razzy is a gorgeous 7-year-old red and white Miniature Australian Shepherd. She weighs 26 pounds. She is very sweet with gorgeous soulful eyes. Razzy is benefiting from one of our wonderful foster homes and is thriving living there. Razzy loves her morning walks and being outside in the dog park with other dogs. When not outside Razzy can be a couch potato, so this girl can do it all, be your hiking buddy or couch buddy.Though she was quite fearful when arriving at NMDR she has made tremendous progress. She now currently enjoys belly rubs from people she knows and even pets from some new friends on the morning walk on the highline canal trail. She warms up to men very quickly. She walks beautifully on a leash and has become accustomed to the scheduled stops on her walk for treats. She is a vey smart girl and know the commands for wait, come and learning sit.Razzy enjoys her dog friends but also does fine when left at her foster home by herself. Razzy has been living in an apartment for more than 3 ½ months without a yard but looks to the dog park and walks a few times a day. Everyday Razzy learns to be more comfortable with people and is now starting to snuggle on the sofa against her foster mom for pets. She continues to progress everyday, and it is wonderful to watch.Razzy needs adults and any children must be over 13. She is not a fan of loud children. We hope you are the right person or family for this precious girl. If you agree, please apply to meet her at NMDR.org.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. Story
#### Look at this face and those eyes! She could not be more beautiful! Tipping the scales at 26 pounds, Cleo is a 2 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd Mix. She is a playful girl. She loves playing with other dogs unless a dog is too rough a player for her tastes. She prefers dogs who are her size or smaller and not too wild. Cleo likes to be close to her dog friends. They give her a sense of safety. She prefers smaller play groups with fewer humans. She is shy and skittish and new noises are scary. She will need some support with sounds we take for granted in a home: tv, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, etc. She must have an adult only home as well. She is a flight risk so her new people will need to have a securely fenced yard. We will give you good information on how to keep her safely in your home. She must have a more confident dog sibling who is her size or smaller and not too exuberant in play. Cleo and her sibling need a securely fenced yard with at least a 6 foot high fence.Cleo is getting used to familiar people. She can be a total wiggle butt when she is feeling safe. She is gaining more confidence daily and is now slowly approaching people for treats. Once she is there, she will eat them from their hands. While she is easy to catch, she is very squirmy when carried. Cleo needs a patient and calm household who will allow her to settle in at her own pace. She is very cautious but she is growing and we are hopeful that will continue at her new home. If you would like to meet this precious girl, please apply at NMDR.org.- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. ####This handsome guy is Ollie. He is an almost three-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd weighing 22 pounds. Ollie is working on trust and socialization skills with the support of our Behavior/Enrichment Team and they have discovered he is a musician at heart - he looooves music. This softie loves to be serenaded. When his favorite staff members turn on the radio and sing to him, he relaxes, lies down, and takes it all in. Ollie also likes to get in a little screen time here and there and currently his favorite channel is DOGTV. Ollie needs a home with experienced, patient adopters. With the right environment and a loving family, Ollie will blossom, and will love becoming a treasured member of a forever home filled with love and companionship. He is coming up to quite a few volunteers now for treats, and he has even started accepting gentle scratches on the chest. If you would like to meet sweet Ollie, please apply at NMDR.org-------Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Story
Meet Rainy - a sweet, shy 20lb Miniature Australian Shepherd. Rainy can be timid around new people, and needs time to build trust. Once she is comfortable around you, she wags her nub tail enthusiastically and approaches for treats and affection. Rainy went to a temporary foster home where we learned that she thrives in a home environment. Her fosters described her as extremely intelligent, curious, and independent. She picked up on potty training quickly and enjoyed people watching from the backyard. She even appeared to be watching television with her foster parents! Rainy is leash trained and enjoys going on walks with people she is comfortable with. However, she will still need a 5ft secure fence to keep her safe and secure. We think Rainy would prefer to live with another dog to help her feel more comfortable, but it is not required. She could live with older children who will respect her space. If you're ready to meet this sweet girl and give her the chance to blossom in a home, please visit our website and fill out an application.Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogBiography Important Information Please read! If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Smokey, and I am a gorgeous Mini Australian girl who was born 9/6/18, and I weigh 26 pounds. I need a large yard or acreage to run on and a sibling to learn the ropes from would be ideal. I do need an experienced adopter who knows how to help me learn all about this big new world. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Mini Aussie, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Smokey 112823-02  May 11, 2024, 3:54 pm

Drogo, is a toy- Aussie. He’s small and very sweet. He loves to cuddle with you and snuggles by your feet when you’re busy. He is very shy, but protective. He is gentle but alert! He’s all bark and no bite. He needs someone who is gentle, and loving! He’s a sweetheart who can get scared from loud noises and big movements. He is great with babies but would prefer to look rather than get near them as he is small.

Story
Zeke is a great and loving dog. My wife adopted him when he was a young puppy, and he has been a part of our family for 10 years! He has some anxiety issues, which have caused him to become a little snappy with most strange dogs, though he does occasionally meet friends he likes to play with, and has gotten along fine with our other dog for the last 5 years. He takes anxiety meds daily, which seem to really help him. He loves people, but is being chased around our house by our 2 year old toddler, and because of this spends almost all his time outside. He has never growled or snapped at her, but we don't feel comfortable with how much he does not like being around her. He is getting older, and occasionally has a small limp that the vet diagnosed as mild arthritis. Despite this he LOVES walks, and frequently comes with us on hikes. He loves playing in water and snow, but really hates thunderstorms. He really likes meeting new people and trying and get them to scratch his fave spot.

Adoption Fee: $375 + $200 s/n deposit All animals are UTD on vaccines (may need boosters) and microchipped From the foster: Puppy 343 (Max) is a bundle of joy seeking his forever home! While he may be a little shy at first, he quickly opens up into a playful and incredibly sweet puppy! He is pretty much potty trained and has only had two accidents inside over the past few weeks. He is also doing so well with his crate training! He rarely cries when going into his crate and sleeps the entire night without an accident. He is full of energy, especially after a good night's sleep, and loves to play with our 6 year old, 70lbs, dog. Max is also very good at independent play with his soft, squeaky toys. We are working on training (sit, come, leash walks, etc) and he is motivated by treats and the crinkle of a treat bag! While he is a playful puppy, once playtime is over, he loves nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch with you and take a much deserved nap by your side. He is the sweetest puppy and will make such a great addition to your family! Learn how to adopt me: www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Maverick is a purebred Mini Aussie. He is 8. He has been with us since he was a puppy. He does not get along with our other dogs and has increased as he ages. He also does not do week around children. He has a high prey drive and like to chase motorcycles, skateboarders and bicycles. He is a great swimmer and farm dog. Very loving with his people. We want to be in a stress free environment. He is currently on meds to help him chill.

Story
Meet Peyton, a sweet male Border Collie who adores affection from familiar humans. Despite his lack of confidence, Peyton will crawl over to spend time with a loving human, eagerly accepting treats from their hands and offering kisses in return. His shy little wag and curious nature shine through, and bravely, he makes great eye contact. Peyton prefers to observe the world from the back of his kennel, but will eagerly come forward for treats or to say hello. He enjoys laying down and rolling to the side for scratches, displaying his trust in those he feels comfortable with. Peyton is still learning to trust that humans are kind and gentle, but he undoubtedly deserves a loving home and a cozy couch life. He will need a patient adopter who will allow him to gain trust at his own pace. Peyton is empowered by the presence of other confident dogs, and does best with female dogs. He is still learning to walk on leash, and does best when walking with another dog. Because of this, he will need to go to a home with a fenced yard until he is more proficient at leash walking. Having a confident canine companion will allow Peyton to gain more confidence and explore all the world has to offer, though it is not required. Peyton eagerly awaits his chance for adoption at the National Mill Dog Rescue.- - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization.
