Story
Berry is a 19-pound Australian Shepherd with a sensitive and gentle nature who is looking for a calm, patient home. She can be easily startled by noise and unfamiliar environments, so Berry needs adopters who understand the importance of moving slowly, keeping expectations low, and allowing her the space she needs to feel safe. Berry is gradually coming out of her shell with staff, showing quiet and steady progress as she builds trust. While she is learning each day, she still remains reserved and cautious and will thrive best in a peaceful environment with consistent routines and understanding caregivers. Berry requires another confident, well-adjusted dog in the home to help her feel secure and show her how to navigate new situations. A secure yard is also important so she can explore at her own pace and gain confidence in a safe, familiar space. A meet and greet at the shelter is required to ensure Berry and any resident dogs are a good fit. With patience, time, and a gentle approach, Berry has the potential to continue blossoming in the right home. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Elizabeth, CO *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Rosie! She is an 3 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 65 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Rosie is fearful of strangers! She is good with kids and cats! No dogs, due to her reactivity! She is housebroken and crate-trained. Rosie bit a neighbor’s child who walked into their house unexpectedly. She also bit a woman who tried to break up a fight between her dog and Rosie. The owner is surrendering her because she is aggressive towards their smaller pets and strangers. If you think you can provide a great home for Rosie, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Rosie. Story
In Buena Vista: Hi my name is Sven, I am 7 years old and looking for my furever family. I love working from home with my foster, enjoy going to sniff spots and love taking naps. I am the typical Aussie as I follow my foster mom everywhere, protect my house, and love to play. I am very smart and love to snuggle. I need a special type of home and a new family that will continue to help me get past my past training. I was trained inappropriately with a shock collar and I am so nervous when I see another dog as I was shocked for barking to have them back off. I have gotten so much better in my foster home but it has taken a while and a lot of snacks. I need a family that will only use positive training, has a 6 foot privacy fence, and will snuggle with me. I need to be the only pet in the home but I do well with older kids. I love to be active and look forward to finding my furever family. Sven is being fostered in Colorado for Australian Shepherds Furever, we are a 501c3 and are PACFA licensed. Please email asfmtnrep@gmail.com or PM Melissa Taylor for more information. All pups in our care are up to date on vaccines, microchipped,m spayed/neutered and loved. We do home inspection and reference checks. Sven is very obedient and smart, needs someone to call his furever. If interested, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which covers the registration and transfer to Sven's new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Hi, I’m Addie! I’m an 8-year-old Border Collie weighing 41 lbs. I walk nicely on a leash and LOVE to play ball—it’s my absolute favorite thing in the world! With a tennis ball in play, nothing else matters. I’d do best in a home that enjoys playing ball with me from time to time and keeping me mentally engaged. I prefer to be the one and only dog, as I like having my people and space to myself, and I’m happiest when I don’t have to share the spotlight. That said, give me a tennis ball and I’m completely in my element. I have a gorgeous smile, love belly rubs, and enjoy snuggling just as much as playtime. I’m looking for a home where I can relax, be adored, and still use my smart Border Collie brain and instincts. (The herding ball is a close second favorite toy!) A meet and greet at the shelter is required to make sure I’m a great match for my future family. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs.
