Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Apollo is a 1 year old Aussie mix who is ready to play! He loves going on walks and can't wait to meet his new best friend! Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2016310##

Story
Name: Yetti Breed: Miniature Australian Shepherd (Double Merle) Age: Puppy Special Feature: partially Blind but built like a Jedi BIO: “Well, well, well… look who wandered into the spotlight. It’s me — Yetti — Gumbo’s newest coworker and the fluffiest pothole inspector you’ll ever meet. Yes, I’m blind. No, I’m not sad about it. I can map out a room faster than a Roomba with an attitude problem.” Yetti is a blind double merle Mini Aussie, which means humans messed up his genetics, not his spirit. He navigates by nose, whiskers, and vibes — and honestly? He does it better than most humans with perfect vision. Yetti is: Smart as all get-out Playful and joyful Sweet, cuddly, and gentle Not slowed down by blindness AT. ALL. He learns routines quickly and bonds deeply with his people. He needs a home that keeps things consistent, safe, and loving — and he’ll do the rest. If you’re looking for a dog who doesn’t know he’s “special needs”… You’re looking at him. Gumbo says, “Adopt Yetti, or I will personally come hide all your socks.” Fee: $395 + ENDLESS patience and love! Currently located in Fosters, AL and can be transported North to an adopter for an additional $200. Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Tokyo! A devoted four-year-old Australian Shepherd currently in Monrovia, MD, whose blue merle coat shimmers like a watercolor masterpiece and whose loyalty runs deep as a river. Tokyo is the kind of girl who forms powerful bonds with her people. Obedient and incredibly smart, she responds to a wide array of commands from “go to your bed” to “turn around” and loves nothing more than staying close to her trusted human companions. Walks? She’s a dream! On or off leash, she moves with grace and attentiveness, though her true joy blossoms when she’s leash-free, trotting happily beside her person with frisbee in tow. Frisbee is, in fact, her greatest joy! She could play fetch for hours, leaping and sprinting with enthusiasm, her eyes bright with excitement. This playful spirit is paired with a gentle desire to be near her favorite humans, always keeping a watchful eye from the window when they’re away, patiently awaiting their return. While Tokyo shines in adult company and with older children who respect her space, she becomes anxious around toddlers and small children. She also prefers to be the only pet, as she doesn’t feel comfortable around other dogs. In her current home, there was a conflict with another resident dog that resulted in a bite, an important sign that Tokyo is happiest when she has her space and undivided attention from her people. Her ideal family is calm, adult-centered, or includes thoughtful teens who understand boundaries and are ready to build a close, trusting bond with a loyal companion. Tokyo is house-trained, crate-trained, and up to date on vaccinations. She’s slightly over her normal weight, but with some daily walks, games of fetch, and a balanced diet, she’ll be back to her fit and fabulous self in no time! She’s not just a pet, she’s a steadfast companion, a bright mind, and a warm heart who needs a home where she can be the star of the show. Imagine having a walking partner who never strays, a playmate who never tires, and a friend who always wants to be by your side! Are you ready to open your heart and home to this frisbee-loving girl? Dolce is a very smart dog who requires ways to get his energy out. We have a yellow lab and two children of teenage years. He can be somewhat temperamental and controlling at times though and we don’t feel like the kind of owners who can figure him out.
