Story
Ruger is the most loving dog out there. Loves to be exercised and to cuddle at night. Unfortunately we live in town where lots of other dogs walk by. When Ruger was a puppy he was attacked by a stray pit bull and since then he shows occasional aggression towards certain dogs. For example we opened our gate to our backyard for a split second and he darted and began fighting another dog. No serious injuries to either dog happened but for this reason I cannot keep him. He is 7 years old and we gave him all the attention on earth until our daughter was born 3 years Ago. He needs more attention and more room to run now. We do have another small dog he’s always gotten along with and does get along with other dogs if introduced slowly. He’s always been amazing with our children. But for his aggressive tendencies I think he’d enjoy a home with no other dogs and no children.

Story
Please contact Rose (japchinrose@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Meet Spot, a 5-year-old, 75 lb Aussie/Great Pyrenees mix with a stunning merle coat and a muscular build. Spot is a smart and playful dog who loves to chase squirrels, run at the dog park, go for car rides, and visit the bank for treats. He is also a cuddly and affectionate dog who enjoys belly rubs, ear scratches, and eye contact with his person. He likes to play fetch and learn new tricks. Spot is well-mannered at home, housebroken, and patient with food and treats. He needs a fenced yard to explore and exercise. He is friendly with other dogs at the park, but he wants to be the only dog in his home. He is not suitable for homes with small children or small animals. He knows the basic commands, and willing to learn more. He also has potential for dog sports like agility or herding. Spot is a loyal and loving dog who needs a family who will appreciate his personality and beauty. He will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and fully vetted before adoption. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.June 4, 2023, 5:23 pm

Story
Are you looking for an outdoor, camping companion?  Hank is your guy, (b. 11/2017) an Australian Shepherd/German Shephard mix.  Hank loves to play and please his people.  He will let you love on him all day.  He would do best in a home with older children or no children, no other dogs, and a calm environment.  He is house trained.  He is good on long car rides and goes camping and boating.  The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $375. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2021 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $307,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1619645##

Story
Kadie is a sweet 2 year old aussie mix looking for an active family, preferably with herding dog experience who understands the needs of the breed. Kadie is a very smart and energetic girl with a strong herding instinct. This sweet pup has come a long way with her current owner but, unfortunately, Kadie had a rough start to her life. She is looking for a forever home that can offer her some basic training/help her learn commands and a patient family that wants to help a smart young dog work through a few rough patches. Kadie would like to find a quiet, low traffic home with understanding parents who can guide her throughout her life. Kadie hasn't had a lot of human friends but has done very well with the few she's met in her current home -- she was head over heels for her current owner's adult son! Kadie is a very smart dog who requires daily exercise (long walks or backyard play), would benefit from a routine, and would love someone who can continue to build her confidence/trust through training and socialization. She is very food motivated and is already kennel trained. Kadie hasn't been around too many dogs and is a little hit or miss when it comes to making canine friends. She is not a big fan of them on her walks, but she's had a couple of positive introductions and someone with more confidence/experience with doggie behavior/introductions might be able to make some headway with her. Because of her limited interactions with other 4 legged friends, her current owner thinks that she might do best as an only dog or in a home with a calm, older, wiser dog to provide comfort and friendship while she learns the ropes. Due to her energy/herding behavior she needs an adult-only home or a home with children over the age of 12. Kadie is ready to go home and settle in with a family that understands her needs and can give her the love she deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Kadie is $350. Story
Meet Bear, an Australian Shepard/German Shepard mix born 5/3/2021. Bear would do best in a home that's calm, and predictable and where he gets plenty of exercise and affection, so a big fenced-in yard would be great. He would do best in a home without cats or small children and if there is another dog in the home, slow dog intros would be best. He would also do best in a home with slow introductions to people. He is also still working on sharing his toys and he prefers to dine alone, so he would need a space separate from other animals during his eating times. Maybe your home could be Bears furever today!  The suggested adoption donation for Bear is $400. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. We do not ship or deliver. Adoptions for Bear are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states that alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Story
Say hello to Champ! He is a male Australian Shepard, born approximately March 6, 2022. Champ is housebroken, stranger friendly, and friendly with children under 6 years of age. He would love to have a fenced in yard with room to run around and play in. Champ is still young and teething, so he likes to chew on things. He will need plenty of chew toys and positive redirection during this process. Champ enjoys his meal times and he finds delight in plenty of exercise. He is very affectionate and will give you lots of kisses. He jumps when he is enthusiastic or wants attention. He enjoys digging for buried treasures in the yard. Champ currently lives with a big family with six children. He is an active and young dog that just needs someone to shower him with love and be willing to work on some obedience training.  The suggested adoption donation for Champ is $400. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. In 2021 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $307,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.
