Story
Sy is a young shy girl with a sweet disposition. She's had a very rocky start to life so she is not recommended for a first time owner or a home with small children. She loves other dogs and would love to have a playmate about her size (35lbs). Due to the herding breed in her, small dogs and cats wouldn't enjoy sharing a home with her. Foster mom is so proud of her because she's doing amazing on potty training. Sy walks well on leash, but needs confidence building with noises and people as she's out on walks.  We're working on crate training with Sy which is a MUST because she is truly still a baby at heart and likes to chew on things that aren't hers if left unattended. Sy is only 10 months old.  She also respects a well placed baby gate which is good for keeping her close to you while you work on what she can and can't chew on. Toys of all kinds bring her great joy, but don't expect stuffies to last forever. Who doesn't love a good shred session with a stuffed toy?! Her double coat will require regular brushing to keep her mat free. Foster mom says she's been doing well with learning to be brushed and she likes to give kisses while she's being pampered.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.July 19, 2024, 12:00 pm

Story
Kadie is a sweet aussie mix b.10/2019 looking for an active family, preferably with herding dog experience who understands the needs of thebreed.Kadie is a very smart and energetic girl with a strong herding instinct. This sweet pup has come a long way with her current owner but, unfortunately, Kadie had a rough start to her life. She is looking for a forever homethat can offer her some basic training/help her learn commands and a patient familythat wants to help a smart young dog work through a few rough patches. Kadie loves to meet new people and is a social butterfly, her favorite people tend to be kids of all ages! Kadieis a verysmart dog who requires daily exercise (long walks or backyard play), would benefit from a routine, and would love someone who can continue to build her confidence/trust through training and socialization. Sheis very food motivated and is already kennel trained.Kadie hasn't been around too many dogs and is a little hit or miss when it comes to making canine friends, she tends to like the smaller chill senior pups. She is notabig fan of them on her walks, but she's had some postive interactions.Because of her limited interactions with other 4 legged friends, her formerowner thinks that she might do best as an only dog or in a home with a calm, older, wiser dogto provide comfort and friendship while she learns the ropes. Kadieis ready to go home andsettle in with a family that understands her needs and can give her the love she deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Kadieis $350. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. Story
Hank (b. 2/2021) an Australian Shepherd mix. Do you have an adult only, active home? Do you work from home or are home often? Would you be willing to work with your pet to train him to be the best doggo we know he can be? Then Hank may be the best fit for you! Hank is a really good boy, just gets a little nervous and doesn't know how to show his feelings in the right way. A fenced-in yard would be preferred since he has a ton of energy. He loves snuggling and standing up and hugging people. He does great with his toys and will let you take them with no problems. Hank is a very affectionate, playful boy who loves to stand on his hind legs for long periods of time for hugs, snuggle with you on your lap, and get pets. He is a VERY active dog, and loves to play tug-o-war and fetch (even though he doesn’t always want to drop the ball). He would do anything for a treat or an ice cube… he loves to catch and cronch ice cubes as fast as he can. However, Hank can get in grumpy moods where he bares his teeth. Sometimes he is fine with you touching his paw, and other times he isn’t. It depends on his mood. Hank is looking for a calm & patient owner who is willing to work with him at his pace. The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $375. Adoptions for Hank are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. Story
Buddy (b 10/2015) is a handsome Australian Shepherd looking for his furever home. While this loverboy loves the Aussie ladies, he can be dog selective so he'll need more than one good introduction to any other dogs in the home.  Buddy's the kinda guy that never wanted kids of his own (which is why he decided to get neutered) and doesn't really want to live with any young children... or cats.  And while we're at it, he doesn't really want to live with any other small critters, either.  Buddy's perfect home would include a fenced in back yard where he can play frisbee, sunbathe, sniff all the sniffs, and daydream.  Buddy is a chatty kind of guy (not well suited for apartment living) who likes to go on long walks with his people.  He's a great traveling companion, loves car rides and the great outdoors.  Most of all, Buddy really loves his people and would prefer someone who can be home with him for most of the day or take him with them when they leave.  He is not a fan of loud noises (storms, beeping noises, vacuum, fireworks or washing machines), they can make him a bit anxious.  Buddy has a severe allergy to chicken so he enjoys a pescatarian diet.  He takes a chew supplement everyday for hip dysplasia, but don't let him fool you - Buddy has a lot of play left in him!  If Buddy sounds like your kinda guy, apply for him today! The suggested adoption donation for Buddy is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life.
