Story
Kadie is a sweet aussie mix b.10/2019 looking for an active family, preferably with herding dog experience who understands the needs of the breed. Kadie is a very smart and energetic girl with a strong herding instinct. This sweet pup has come a long way with her current owner but, unfortunately, Kadie had a rough start to her life. She is looking for a forever home that can offer her some basic training/help her learn commands and a patient family that wants to help a smart young dog work through a few rough patches.  Kadie loves to meet new people and is a social butterfly, her favorite people tend to be kids of all ages! Kadie is a very smart dog who requires daily exercise (long walks or backyard play), would benefit from a routine, and would love someone who can continue to build her confidence/trust through training and socialization. She is very food motivated and is already kennel trained. Kadie hasn't been around too many dogs and is a little hit or miss when it comes to making canine friends, she tends to like the smaller chill senior pups. She is not a big fan of them on her walks, but she's had some postive interactions. Because of her limited interactions with other 4 legged friends, her former owner thinks that she might do best as an only dog or in a home with a calm, older, wiser dog to provide comfort and friendship while she learns the ropes. Kadie is ready to go home and settle in with a family that understands her needs and can give her the love she deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Kadie is $350. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1377794##

Story
Hank (b. 2/2021) an Australian Shepherd mix. Do you have an adult only, active home? Do you work from home or are home often? Would you be willing to work with your pet to train him to be the best doggo we know he can be? Then Hank may be the best fit for you! Hank is a really good boy, just gets a little nervous and doesn't know how to show his feelings in the right way. A fenced-in yard would be preferred since he has a ton of energy. He loves snuggling and standing up and hugging people. He does great with his toys and will let you take them with no problems. Hank is a very affectionate, playful boy who loves to stand on his hind legs for long periods of time for hugs, snuggle with you on your lap, and get pets. He is a VERY active dog, and loves to play tug-o-war and fetch (even though he doesn’t always want to drop the ball). He would do anything for a treat or an ice cube… he loves to catch and cronch ice cubes as fast as he can. However, Hank can get in grumpy moods where he bares his teeth. Sometimes he is fine with you touching his paw, and other times he isn’t. It depends on his mood. Hank is looking for a calm & patient owner who is willing to work with him at his pace. The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $375. Adoptions for Hank are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. Story
Buddy (b 10/2015) is a handsome Australian Shepherd looking for his furever home. While this loverboy loves the Aussie ladies, he can be dog selective so he'll need more than one good introduction to any other dogs in the home.  Buddy's the kinda guy that never wanted kids of his own (which is why he decided to get neutered) and doesn't really want to live with any young children... or cats.  And while we're at it, he doesn't really want to live with any other small critters, either.  Buddy's perfect home would include a fenced in back yard where he can play frisbee, sunbathe, sniff all the sniffs, and daydream.  Buddy is a chatty kind of guy (not well suited for apartment living) who likes to go on long walks with his people.  He's a great traveling companion, loves car rides and the great outdoors.  Most of all, Buddy really loves his people and would prefer someone who can be home with him for most of the day or take him with them when they leave.  He is not a fan of loud noises (storms, beeping noises, vacuum, fireworks or washing machines), they can make him a bit anxious.  Buddy has a severe allergy to chicken so he enjoys a pescatarian diet.  He takes a chew supplement everyday for hip dysplasia, but don't let him fool you - Buddy has a lot of play left in him!  If Buddy sounds like your kinda guy, apply for him today! The suggested adoption donation for Buddy is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $390,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time-to-time owner’s find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Apollo is a 4 yr old Australian Shepherd mix. He’s neutered, up to date on shots, heart worm negative. He’s extremely lovable, but he is a little timid when meeting new ppl so it takes some time/patience with him to get comfortable. He loves to play ball, got on walks/runs, and loves to cuddle. Apollo is good with other dogs and has lived with cats but is an Aussie so does sometimes want to herd.  Does best in an environment with no small animals and no small children (herding instinct).   He is about 45lbs  His adoption fee is $100All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.April 23, 2024, 9:53 am
