Story
Hi, It’s me Zinnia, I am a very friendly, active mini-aussie/poodle mix. I am 7 years old and in great health. I love people and other dogs. Given my past, it'd  be best for me to have another dog in the household to continue to learn from and bond with. I don’t take up much room because I only weigh 15 pounds. As they say..."good things come in small packages." If you're interested in a smaller gal to add to your pack, I may be the perfect addition. If interested please apply.  NYS AG and MKTS RR#363 *we recommend that any adopter do their research on any dog breed you're applying for. If a mixed breed, research all breeds listed to have a feel for the temperament, grooming needs, activity level, and health issues that are common for them. Zinnia is being fostered in BuffaloZinnia's adoption donation is $350

Story
Nebula, a truly beautiful dog. While her past holds some hardship – she was found living on the streets with her seven puppies – her spirit shines through. Nebula is a sweet and beautiful girl, possessing a gentle nature that will blossom with the right amount of patience and understanding. Nebula's intelligence is evident in her quick grasp of commands. She's already house-trained and crate-trained, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt. She enjoys walks immensely, exhibiting a calm and easy-going temperament. What Nebula truly desires is a loving home where she can finally feel safe and secure. While her street life has made her initially cautious around new people, once she builds trust, her playful puppy-like energy resurfaces. It's a beautiful transformation to witness. We believe Nebula would thrive in a quiet and patient home, ideally with someone experienced in working with dogs who have experienced trauma. With the right care, she'll become the most loyal and loving companion imaginable. If you're interested in learning more about Nebula and potentially offering her a loving forever home, please don't hesitate to contact us. $200 In State Adoption Fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes Transportation to your area) $50 Temporary fuel surcharge.

**Please Note: This is a Courtesy Posting. Dog is currently with owner, and they will receive the application. This dog is not the rescues, we are just trying to assist owner find a good home for their dog.** Required: live in Rochester NY area. Meet Rosie! Rosie is a 1 year old Australian Shepherd weighing in around 35 pounds. Rosie is looking for a forever home where she doesn’t have to spend so much time in a crate. She is very high energy, and needs a home with a fenced in yard for her to run around in. She loves to have a ball tossed to her, and just run around and play. Rosie is nervous when first meeting new people, so it will take a little time to warm up. Once she does, she is ready to play! Rosie is still a bit of a puppy (and an Aussie) and she does tend to nip from time-to-time. It is highly recommended that she goes to a home without small children. Rosie currently spends a great deal of time in her crate, and this does not suit her energy needs as an Aussie. She is also still working on her potty training and her leash training as she is considered leash reactive. With this, Rosie will need a patient home who is willing to work with her and train her to become the best dog she can be. To meet with Rosie to see if she might be a good match for your home, an adoption application is required. https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication This dog is a courtesy posting, we are helping the owner find a suitable home for this pup. Story
Domino is a 1-1/2 year old spayed female Border Collie Mix. She probably weighs around 35 lbs. Domino is a pretty mellow girl. She just recently arrived so we are still learning about her.  Domino is currently at the Shelter until 4/7 then she will be at the Orleans Correctional Facility for Path to Home Training until June. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs.   Adoption Procedures   The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path to Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered.   If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path to Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.   Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.April 5, 2025, 4:07 pm
