Story
Fudge is a Toy American Shepherd which is the proper name for a mini Aussie. His AKC lists as a red merle: he is reddish chocolate brown with some tan and white markings and a speckled snout. He was runt of his litter, and max weight is 18 lbs. He is 3 years old. Neutered. Vaccinated. House and crate trained. He is a very active boy, needs stimulation and lots of human interaction. He is anxious and crated with any unknown visitors until he gets comfortable . I do not recommend homing with young children. Raised in home with adults and teen boy. He has been routinely groomed. He would be perfectly happy in a home with a fenced yard but does well on a leash. He is a dog who will be snuggly on couch. He is a very good boy but aussies are herders who will bark and nip at ankles when they want control. For that reason, a person experienced with Aussies or border collies is recommended. He is a great dog. I am so sad that my health challenge and relocation force rehoming. He’s beautiful.

I have a lot of energy and lots of love to give. I am the most excited dog ever when someone I love comes to see me! It does take me a while to warm up to people especially men, but I am such a lovebug when I get to know you! I am crate and potty trained, and I would be good in a home with others dogs and cats. If you want a buddy to go on a hike with or running with, or even a car ride with, I would love to tag along! I just want to be wherever you are, and I know we'll have fun no matter where we go. Marmaduke is a big goofy lovebug! He adores children and other dogs. He is very curious about cats and chickens and is probably best in a home without those (or where he can be separated from them). He is about 1 year old and has been in rescue all his life. He had a medical issue as a puppy that required surgery and he is healed from that but needs 24/7 dog door access - he is doggie door trained. He will do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, another dog or dogs to play with that are not tiny since he's so big, and respectful animal-loving children that will love him as much as he loves them. If you are interested in Marmaduke, please fill out an application at our website: forrescue.net He is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and we have determined because of his need for 24/7 dog door access he should be adopted locally in case an adopter cannot manage his condition and he must return to the rescue.
