He can be shy, especially at first, but once he feels safe, his sweet personality really starts to shine. Buddy loves giving kisses and being close to his people. Like Honey Bee, he may jump up in excitement, but with a little training and consistency, he’ll learn quickly. Buddy is crate familiar and pad trained, though he’ll need continued guidance with both routines. He walks fairly well on a harness but would benefit from more leash training to build confidence. He does well with other dogs when given proper introductions, and he’s been around kids—though due to his timid nature, a calmer home with older children may be best. Cats don’t seem to bother him much—he mostly just observes them. Buddy can be especially nervous around men, so he’ll need a patient and understanding home willing to help him feel safe and secure. Luna is a 2 year old Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd mix 65 weighing pounds. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Luna is a friendly and happy girl! She has a lot of energy and doesn't realize her own size. She's playful, enjoys all toys & playing fetch. She has separation anxiety which means she does not do well when left alone. She would thrive in an active home that can spend lots of time with her and provide an outlet for her energy. Housebroken and crate trained. Great with baths. Will chew on shoes if given the opportunity and when left alone. Can be fearful of men with loud voices.Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! This spotted cutie is Waylon!Waylon has now been with us at FDHS for a while, and we’ve gotten to know him much better. With our staff, he’s a big giant baby and sweet as pie. Once he trusts you, he’s affectionate, sweet, and loves nothing more than being a lovebug.Waylon can be very cautious when meeting new people and will often bark or growl at first. Because of this, he’s going to do best in a home with rescue dog experience or adopters who are patient and willing to put in the time to earn his trust and help build his confidence. At this time, we don’t feel he would be a good fit for a home with children under 10.He’s shown a lot of curiosity about the other shelter dogs and seems interested in making friends. With proper introductions, we think he could do well in a home with other dogs and likely cats too. Waylon is a smart, young dog and very treat motivated, though he’s still learning to take treats gently.When he’s not zooming around the yard and burning off energy, Waylon is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. He comes from energetic working-dog heritage, so an active home that’s committed to keeping both his brain and body busy will be key to his success.
