Story
They are so cute! But, are you ready for a puppy?Remember, getting a puppy is a big responsibility. They can be a 10 to 15+ year commitment. They need to be trained to fit into your family – leash walking, housebreaking, basic commands and expectations. Training does not happen quickly. It takes time and consistency. They require initial and yearly vet exams and vaccinations. Socializing your puppy is also very important, as it can help them become comfortable around new animals, people, and environments. We ask that you take into consideration all of these things before deciding to adopt a puppy. Consider the following: ?Are you able to consistently train your puppy? ?Will everyone in your household work together to take care of the puppy? ?Are you prepared for your puppy to grow into a bigger dog? ?Are you willing to clean up the messes that your puppy will make? ?Are you ready for upcoming vet bills? ?How are you going to socialize your puppy? ?Are other animals in your household able to tolerate a new puppy? If you’re ready to take on the responsibility and JOY of bringing home a new puppy, come out to the shelter and meet your new best friend!

Story
Meet Rocky! If you have kids of any age that love dogs and want to play, "Rockstar" is your boy!!! He is a 9 month old precious goober that is longing for his FURever home! He came into rescue at just 1 week old! His entire litter has been adopted and he was in a foster to adopt home when we discovered he needed surgery to correct an injury he had when we got him. He has now had that surgery and is 100% healed but his original home realized they were not ready or able to care for a dog after going through his medical process. He is AMAZING with children but wants to chase chickens so probably would chase cats too (he has not been officially tested but we want to be safe). He is 95% potty trained, super playful, loves kids and dogs and will do well in almost any environment. He is still a puppy so has puppy energy. Rocky is fostered in the Huntsville, AL area and could be available for transport but transport fees are in addition to his adoption fee. Rocky is up to date on all his vaccinations, chipped, on HW prevention and neutered. If you are interested in meeting Rocky please apply at our website forrescue.net.

Story
Meet Chip! This handsome boy is being fostered in East TN Athens. Out of state welcome. The adoption fee listed on adopt a pet includes transport to your area. We use Rescue Riders for all our transport needs because they are the best. Chip is such a sweet handsome boy. He is very affectionate and playful. He is a young boy almost a year old and curious as they come. He had the head tilt move to expert level. He wags his super short tail all the time. He’s a happy go lucky kind of boy. He was going to be euthanized due to time and space at our local shelter so we pulled him out to save him. He was adopted and then returned we were told he had some food guarding tendencies. Well we don’t see this at all in fact we accidentally forgotten on a few occasions about that and petted him while eating or moved his bowl while he was eating and he could have cared less. We are not sure if this was directed towards other dogs or not but we do not feed them together here. He has also not been possessive of any toys at all. He plays well with other dogs large and small. He is crate trained and is doing excellent at house training. He is still just a young pup so he would need to be treated like a puppy. Don’t leave things out for him to get into. Take him out to potty in his new home and praise him for going on the new yard etc. he’s a great dog and will make a lucky family very happy. We think he would do best with older kids because he does play pretty hard and would knock the smaller ones around. Apply at petpath.org.
