Meet Atlas, a 60lb, 2-year-old Border Collie mix, who is just starting to discover what it’s like to be loved and cared for. Surrendered along with 51 other dogs from a property where they were not properly cared for, he has spent most of his life in an outdoor pen with very limited to no socialization. As a result, he is very shy and reserved at first, but with patience and understanding, he’s ready to build the trust that will turn him into the loyal and loving companion he’s meant to be.
Atlas thrives in the company of other dogs, so a canine companion in his new home will be a must. Having a buddy to help him feel safe and show him the ropes will be key as he learns what it’s like to live indoors and be part of a family. While he’s still cautious around people, his trust will grow with time, consistency, and gentle encouragement.
This sweet boy has a clean streak—he tries very hard to keep his kennel clean, which shows he’s eager to learn and adjust to routines. However, because he has always lived outside, he will need a little extra help with house training. Having regular routines, positive reinforcement, and a patient approach will go a long way in helping him feel secure and confident.
Atlas is a special soul who simply needs a patient and loving home to show him the world of comfort, safety, and trust. He will need some time to settle in and an open minded and a compassionate family that understands his needs and can make that commitment to him and his needs!!!
Atlas will be neutered, he is microchipped and current on all vaccines. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.
