Meet Hamish, a big-headed cutie with the best smile and a waggy tail, you can't help but fall in love with him. He can be a little timid with new people and takes a minute to warm up, but once he does, he's all in. If he sees a lap, he is in it. No hesitation. No regrets. Hamish is looking for a loving family that will give him a little time to open up and feel safe and a leader to rely on. He knows his basic commands, and looks to his person for comfort, reassurance, and guidance. Hamish is loyal, affectionate and happiest when he's close to his human. She can be a tad bit pushy with her love for you as well, you want sprawl out on the couch?? She’s happy to wedge herself halfway across your space, just to let ya know she’s there. Linda is proud to be the center of attention in your home, she thinks she hails from royalty. She’s also quite the foodie as you can see, not letting any meals go to waste. Venus was rescued back in October. Her first week in rescue was 24/7 hospital care on IV liquids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Her diagnosis included several broken ribs (likely from humans kicking her). We have a strong inkling that Venus somehow escaped from the life of a bait dog for dog fighting which sadly is commonplace in our state. She was very thin, every bone in her body was protruding and she had very infected abcesses all over her body from bite wounds. She had heartworms and has completed the full treatment. She has made a complete recovery and is ready to be a part of a family, something she has never had before! She does not get along with other dogs. Cats aren’t her thing either, but she makes up for it with loyalty, affection, and the sweetest temperament. Venus is ready to brighten someone’s world. Could it be yours? She was chained outside in Detroit — tangled between overgrown trees, no shade, no warmth, no straw. That was Midge's life before rescue. But it wasn't until our friends The Karens saw her photo on Facebook and reached out with their own pictures and proof of her past that we truly understood everything this little girl had survived. We don't know how she went from that chain to a shelter, but what we do know is this: Midge is safe now, and she will never have to live that life again. Even after rescue, the road hasn't been easy. Midge has gone through heartworm treatment while under our care, and yet — through all of it — she is wiggly, happy, and full of heart. Midge is pint-sized (just 41 lbs.) and is discovering what it means to be truly loved, and she is blossoming more every single day. At 2–3 years old, she's past the puppy chaos but still young enough for years of adventures ahead. A low-key cuddle enthusiast, Midge would rather lounge on the couch with you than run a marathon. She's thriving in her foster home with canine siblings, has mastered "sit," and is fully potty trained and crate trained.
