We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Age: 2 Years Weight: 46lbs Good with dogs? Yes- meet and greet required Good with cats? Unknown Good with kids? Yes Energy Level: Moderate-High Adoption Fee: $320.00 Any other info: Introducing another amazing Detroit special Malassezia! Also known as Mal. Mal is a lovable bulldog mix with a personality as soft and squishy as her wrinkly face. She was waiting for her chance at the over crowded shelter in Detroit and we couldn't wait to welcome her to our adoption program. This adorable pup is a master of snuggling, always eager to curl up and soak up the attention of those around her. She's shy at first but it doesn't take long for her to warm up and melt your heart. She loves to smoosh her face into you for pets, walks well on a leash, likes stuffie toys, and if you hit the right spot behind her ear for pets, she'll start kicking her leg in appreciation. With her unique blend of bulldog charm, puppy dog eyes, and sensational wrinkles, Mal brings a dash of whimsy to every room she enters. She's silly and adorable and we've all fallen madly in love with her. You will too! This beefcake is slowly coming out of her shell now that she knows she is safe and sound here with us and we love to see it. She ADORES playing and will happily play for hours, until you're ready for a cuddle session of course. We are quite smitten with this girl and we know you will be too! Malassezia was recently spayed here with us. She is also microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested negative, and kept on prevention here with us. This low rider is finally ready to meet her forever family and have a home to call her own. She can't wait to be a part of a family. If you have the best home for this beefcake, please apply through the link below. https://form.jotform.com/201977724595065 Once your application is processed and approved, our adoptions team will reach out to schedule an in person meet and greet with Mal. ------------------------------------------------ Our adoption fees include the pets spay or neuter, microchip, up to date vaccines, heartworm/tick disease testing and fecal check. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139 Monty is the cutest little guy ever! He is much smaller in person than he looks in pictures. He is a total lover and a complete lap dog. He has the best temperament ever! Great with kids, dogs and cats. He is up to date on all his shots, is neutered, house trained and crate trained. Monty is not a barker. He loves to be with his people but likes to sleep in his crate. We are still getting to know him so more information to come.  If you are interested in meeting or adopting Monty, please fill out an online application. Send questions to cbrookszy@yahoo.com  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 27, 2025, 2:03 pm

Story
Iggy is a 3 year old English Bulldog that we got from a breeder in Flat Rock. He was formally trained when he was 9 months old and is a good boy. He is looking for a home without a lot of commotion and humans to love him. He likes to sleep, chew his bones and hang out with his humans. He likes short walks and lots of love. He has been living with a cat his whole life and also does well with other dogs. He needs a monthly bath and for his folds to be cleaned every day. He takes daily allergy chews. He is a sweet boy. We are gone too much and he needs more attention than we can give him with our busy lives.

Story
MEET FURGIE: Age: 3 years  (2/24/22)Breed: AKC English Bulldog  Weight: 57lbs Furgie was surrendered when her previous owner could no longer afford her care. Despite her past, including being bred by her past owner even with a genetic condition (cherry eye), she has faced her challenges with grace. Furgie underwent cherry eye surgery and has been spayed, ensuring that she will never have to endure the stress of breeding again. This sweet and happy girl is the epitome of companionship. She thrives on attention and loves to be around her people. Furgie has shown to get along well with other dogs, especially those that match her slower pace. Although she's met a cat and displayed no concerning interest, her gentle nature makes her easygoing with anyone she meets.  Furgie is house-trained and crate-trained, making her a wonderful choice for families looking for a well-behaved addition to their home.  As a brachycephalic breed, Furgie is sensitive to extreme temperatures, which makes her less inclined to be your outdoor adventure buddy. She's not a fan of long walks nor is she very excited about car rides, preferring the comfort of home where she can enjoy her time with her loved ones. While she might not be an outdoorsy dog, her affectionate and calm demeanor makes her a great companion for indoor activities and relaxed evenings. Furgie is looking for a loving family that understands the needs of her breed—experience with brachycephalic dogs is essential. Due to her sweet but sometimes reserved nature and higher maintenance, she is not the best fit for first-time dog owners. Furgie would thrive in a home that offers a cozy atmosphere and loving companionship, where she can receive all the attention she desires. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this lovely girl, Furgie is waiting for a forever family to love her just as she loves being loved.  Furgie is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayedADOPTION FEE: $500 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
Libby’s coat is just gorgeous! She is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 42 pounds. Here are a few nice facts about her: May be the sweetest soul on earth Someone has not been very nice to her, poor muffin She is very hand shy and pancakes to the ground when unsure or scared Hesitant of new things Docile So very affectionate when she trusts you, just takes a little time to open up Only wants to be close Seems to crave affection Likes soft toys Will retrieve tennis balls and toys and relinquishes them with a soft mouth Knows drop it Really needs a leader to rely on for comfort and guidance Adopter should have the time and patience to build trust and work on confidence building Would love a home where someone is home a lot Needs a home where any children are at least 8 years old with her shy, insecure nature Only wants a family to love and treat her like she deserves, she is an angel with so much love to give If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Libby would love to meet them. She has a soft, loose and wiggly approach with other dogs and is a little submissive. Another nice dog in the home may help with building her confidence. If you are interested in Libby and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
