Tater Tot was purchased from a breeder and then later surrendered to Dallas DogRRR Rescue. When he was a baby he experienced a traumatic injury to his hip and spinal cord. It was determined Tater's mom or owner stepped on him as a pup and the previous owner never fixed his injury. His hip was completely out of the socket and the other leg did not seem to be functioning. We had him seen by our doctors and decided to remove the one leg due to Tater chewing his foot; it had become necrotic and unsaleable. There was no way to save the leg. The other leg was not repairable and eventually it also had to be amputated due to becoming necrotic as well. Tater needs someone who is willing to give him the special care that he needs. He is paralyzed from the hips down. He wears diapers due to his incontinence. We assure you is comfortable and has a good quality of life. Once you meet this guy you will know. If you have any questions prior to adopting please email patti@dallasdogrrr.org Tater gets around wonderfully there not much that slows him down. He does have a wheelchair that was purchased for him. Update from his foster..... Tater has settled in well. He's quite a character and becoming a Velcro pup, always wanting to be by his fosters side. He is on the search for a full time bone holder. His T-Rex arms mixed with the cone he had to wear after surgery made properly holding a bone difficult. This boy loves to chew; so you must be able to hold at least two bones at one time! This precious meat head is Champs. Big, strong, loving and loyal and looking for a loving home. Champs was found living in a homeless camp with a logger chain and lock around his neck - chained to a tree. Life was desperate for this guy with his open neck wound. What agony he lived in day after day, despite that he was still nice to people and other dogs that came up to him. Luckily, a good person stepped up and did something rather than just pass him by. Champs is a sweet loving smart boy. He is eager to please his people and make them proud. He is the most handsomest, sweetest little big guy out there! We are working on our Canine Good Citizenship together and he is SOOOO quick to learn and eager to please! Champs is good with other dogs, but does need proper intros as he is VERY excitable and not a lot of other dogs like that. But he when he makes friends, they are the best of pals! Not sure on cats or other pets. He's very curious so he'd probably chase a cat if it ran from him. He is high energy. I would recommend an active home with teenagers with lots of energy that they can play together. He loves a consistent routine. So I would imagine the energy will settle a bit when in a home. He loves a good car ride and would be a great on-the-go pup! He's in boarding right now and needs a foster or adopter that is willing to continue his training! He would sure love a home to experience life with a loving family. Champs seems to like everybody he meets: humans and canines. Miss Janice Joplin is so sweet and loving. Happy and playful. She's a joy to be around. You'll get the joy and gratitude of seeing this sweet face every day if you adopt her! She's loving, friendly, good with the toddler in her foster home. Very happy. Loves people. She's full of love to share. Not completely potty trained but doing really good. It's a work in progress and consistent routine. She loves playing with the other dogs in the house and can play for hours. She has allergies but it is controlled with medication- She's on apoquel and will need to continue that in the foreseeable future. Another good-looking bulldog finding herself stuck in a South Texas shelter, where the heat will soon be too much for her. She is a cute, stocky girl. Bubbles loves a little play time, her walks are getting longer too. But a couch, preferably with you on it, a couple of toys, and every now and then a backyard break to keep the squirrels away, are just fine. Who can resist all that? Let me tell you a bit about myself. I love humans, something about them that makes me wiggle and want to crawl into their laps. Humans are the best. Want to know what I do not love, actually in full disclosure what I cannot live with? I don't like cats, not at all. I don't like other dogs, who needs another dog if you have me? I am all you need! I need a fence that gives me privacy and security other wise I will feel the need to protect my yard against dogs on the other side. My needs are few...humans and no other animals. This squatty pittie is very smart, loves people and seems to have an energetic streak. She is a really loud snorer!! Give this gal a stuffy toy and a place on the sofa to snuggle up and she will be your best friend. * Favorite pass time is napping. * I love to play with toys * squeaky toys, yes please! (Stuffy animals will need surgery since I like to tear out the squeakers and stuffing) * I love to have my ears rubbed * I LOVE my doggie chow! Oh, and treats. They're yum yum! * I sleep in my own room in a kennel all night, 11pm - 8am. (I do like a little nightlight) * I love the back yard and the bunny that lets me chase him. Most times I just sit/lay and chill out * I'm really good at this potty thing, I do it outside. * I don't bark. * I'm a 45lb, sweet and gentle girl. Seriously, this dog is a delight! She's got such great manners and a cute wiggle butt. Sometime soon, she's going to make a forever family very happy! Look at her! That face of pure cuteness. We couldn't be more in love with Bertie - she is truly a dream. She is great with our senior dog, sleeps through the night in her crate without a peep, is potty trained and just wants all the love and pets. Looking for a snaggle tooth grin to brighten your days?! Bertie is 3-4 years old and 45-50 lbs. She would do amazing in a house with another dog for her to play with (we have a 13-year-old that she co-exists with perfectly). She LOVES attention, especially from boys, she's obsessed with my husband and is his shadow. She is so good during the day (we both work from home) and she just naps on the couch. She does get a burst of energy at night and barks to get attention but other than that, she's pretty much perfect! She has a heart full of love to give. She has had quite a few litters it looks like; she has some saggy skin from feeding babies, but she just got spayed so I think it will shrink up after that. She has a pocket tail that was infected when we got her. She was on antibiotics for it and some skin issues, but everything has cleared up. We've been cleaning her tail every couple of days to keep it clean and that will need to be continued so she never has to experience that again. She is super food-motivated so I think would be easy to train her. She loves to give her paw and hold hands, so I think shake would be an easy one for her. We're not too sure if she's cat or kid-friendly but she's never shown aggression of any type, even when the vet was cleaning out her tail pocket and she was yelping in pain.
