Story
This stunning 5-year-old Orange Belton English Setter is ready to find a family that understands him. He’s a big boy at about 70 lbs and while we know he is an English Setter, we can only speculate about his bloodlines because of his larger size. Augie is a smart, independent, treat-motivated boy who picks up on training quickly. But he’ll need an adopter with expertise and patience to help him build confidence, especially in new situations. Here’s what makes Augie special:  Low prey drive – no lizard or squirrel-chasing chaos here!  Companions  – he is ok with the company of female dogs his size but honestly people are his favorite, and he doesn’t need another dog in his forever home.  Yard enthusiast – a good-sized, securely fenced yard (6’ fencing) is important for his playtime.  Timid but willing – he may start off a little nervous, but with time, he’ll blossom into a devoted companion. Augie is searching for a kind and experienced adopter who will guide him with love, consistency, and patience. Because of his size and enthusiasm for his people, he’s looking for a home without children or older folks who might be accidentally knocked about by his affectionate nature. Could that be you? Apply today and give this sweet boy the home he’s been waiting for!  April 13, 2025, 7:35 pm

Story
Almondine is a sweet, 12 year young precious girl looking for her forever home. She is a gentle, low-energy girl who loves nothing more than soaking up the sunshine and enjoying a good nap. She’s the perfect companion for someone who appreciates a calm, loving presence in their home. Almondine is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people. She loves lounging around and relaxing in cozy spots. She is trustworthy when left loose in the house—no destructive habits! Almondine does not like being crated and becomes anxious if left in one for too long. Almondine does well with dogs when she has controlled and slow intros because she can be growly initially, possibly from some age related pains. She’s been to a specialist and is now on pain medication. She has never been around cats but she has a low prey drive. Her foster home has 6’ fencing and she has never tried to escape. We believe she would be ok as an only dog as long as her person is home most of the time. We’re not recommending her for a home with kids under 10, just to make sure that as a senior she is handled with care.    If you’re looking for a mellow, sunshine-loving friend to share your days with, Almondine could be the perfect match. Seniors like Almondine deserve a soft place to land—could that be with you? November 17, 2025, 5:21 pm

Story
Meet Edgar, a strikingly handsome, 6-year-old orange and white Setter with a heart of gold. For most of his life, he was a dutiful companion to his elderly owners, but as their health declined, he found himself in rescue. Though he initially relied on his dog mom for comfort, this big, 57-pound boy has truly come out of his shell and is learning to love his independence. Edgar wears his heart on his sleeve and has a soft spot for female canine friends. While he might be a little unsure when meeting new dogs, a slow and patient introduction with plenty of space is all he needs to feel comfortable. A structured routine is the key to his happiness; he loves knowing when it’s dinnertime and will happily trot to his crate for a special meal. Edgar is also an excellent co-pilot and loves going for car rides. He’s very focused on his person for guidance when out of his comfort zone, and though he needs a little more leash practice, he has a solid “come” command when he’s in a secure yard. He is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention and would thrive with older children or teens who can respect his reserved nature. Given his high prey drive, a home without cats is a must. If you have a calm, structured home and are ready to give this sensitive soul all the love he deserves, Edgar is ready to be your most loyal companion.September 15, 2025, 5:49 pm

Story
Inky is a big, handsome eight year young boy that was rescued from a hoarding situation.  We believe he is a Bench Setter based on his appearance and character traits. He has really bold, dramatic markings and he enjoys grooming which will be a necessity in his life going forward. Inky is learning to live in a house perhaps for the first time in his life and he loves to be with his person. He would do best in a quiet home where someone is home more than gone. Inky loves his crate but only if his person is within view. His house training is going well but we think he’ll need patience and a refresher when he moves to a new home. He enjoys daily walks which will be important to help him build up muscle in his rear legs as he was likely kept crated at the hoarders. Inky was in really bad shape when he came to rescue, but he has been fully vaccinated, neutered and received a badly needed dental. This big boy does get along well with other dogs, but he could be an only dog as well, as long as he receives lots of attention from his humans. He has not been kid tested or cat tested. We believe he would be fine in a 4.5' fence as he has low prey drive and has shown little to no escape tendencies. Inky would truly love a home for the holidays with people who can continue to gently guide him to all the benefits of living inside and give him the love and pets he so desperately deserves. Can you give Inky his Christmas miracle?     December 5, 2025, 3:34 pm

Story
Dustin is a friendly, happy 9-10 year-old Setter Mix with a striking black and white "tuxedo" coat. He's a true companion who loves walks and sunbathing, always staying close to his loved ones. Rescued from a hoarding situation, he's great with other dogs, fitting in easily with his canine siblings in foster care.   This handsome boy is perfectly house- and crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night. He's a joy on a leash and loves to be pampered, making bath and grooming time easy. His calm demeanor means he's unfazed by household noises like the vacuum and always wants to be part of the action.   Dustin would adjust wonderfully to either a busy or quiet household. He's been great with an 8-year-old child (not yet cat-tested) and is fostered near Loveland, Colorado, eager to find a forever family for endless scratches and treats! He's a candidate for a home with a 4-foot fence or a courtyard. December 9, 2025, 5:29 pm

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Meet Elsa – The Golden-Hearted Girl Who Never Stopped Believing in Love At 8 months old and 48 pounds, Elsa is a beautiful Golden Retriever–Great Pyrenees mix who somehow ended up with all the Golden personality and only the Pyrenees fluff. Sweet, friendly, eager, affectionate—this girl is sunshine in dog form. If Golden Retrievers had a motivational speaker division, Elsa would be the CEO. But her start wasn’t golden at all. Elsa spent her whole puppyhood tied to a tether outside a trailer, watching the world from a spot of dirt she never deserved. No toys. No soft beds. No one to run to. No one to run with. And yet… her heart never quit. When she first came to us, she had a little food aggression around other dogs—understandable when you’ve never known if your next meal was guaranteed. But with time, consistency, and the realization that she’s finally safe, Elsa has blossomed beautifully. She’s now doing wonderfully with her dog friends and has never shown an ounce of aggression toward people. Humans, in her eyes, are made of magic—especially the ones willing to pet her. And oh, does she love to be loved. She leans in, she wiggles, she smiles with her whole face. She gives love like she’s been storing it up for months—because she has. Elsa deserved so much more than what she got in her puppy months, but she refuses to dwell on the past. She’s too busy soaking up cuddles, handing out kisses, and living her best “I’m finally free!” life. Her capacity for forgiveness and joy would put most of us to shame. This girl is resilient, goofy, grateful, and ready. Ready for a family. Ready for a home. Ready to love—and to be loved back. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle, funny, deeply affectionate companion with a heart big enough to light up your whole house… Elsa is your girl. Apply today at haydududeequine.org, and get ready to welcome a brave, bouncy, golden-hearted miracle into your arms, heart and home!! 🐾
