You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Buddy is currently in a foster home and is doing amazing! His foster family says he's a total love-bug and he has so much energy. He is learning basic training and has come such a long way! He will definitely need an active family. Buddy is super sweet and he adores everyone he meets! I'm a total attention hog and couch potato who loves to snuggle, play, and chat — yes, I sing! �� — and I do best as your one and only dog, without cats around. I'll require regular grooming to keep my beautiful coat in check, and my adoption fee is $400, but trust me, the love and goofy adventures I'll bring are worth every penny. Story
I have had Bear for 5 years, since he was 9 months old. He has always been a wonderful companion. Very sweet. Unfortunately, he is also defiant and reactive. Sometimes he growls at people who get too close to him. He is also suspicious of strangers who want to touch him. He never had any biting issues until the past year. First, he was in a boarding facility and snapped at a technician who tried to sit with him. Then more recently he bit my girlfriend in our home. 95% of the time is wonderful, but I can no longer tolerate the risk of the other 5%. He needs someone who is caring, patient, and experienced with reactive dogs.

Our 5-year-old female Saint Bernard, Winnie, needs a new home. Originally bought in Alaska as a puppy and now lives in PA. We are downsizing considerably/moving and we can no longer give her the space a big, energetic Saint like her deserves.Winnie has a lot of energy and a sweet, affectionate personality with her people. She is good with kids and generally does well with other dogs. She is also a good guard dog — she is protective and lets us know when unknown people approach the house. She is not spayed and last vaccinated summer 2022? She’d do best in a home with a fenced in yard, but it’s not completely necessary. She is crate trained and housebroken. She has a lot of love to give, so we would love to see her go to a loving home.

Clifford is a 3 year old male Saint Bernard and a big ol’ cuddler — like having a mini highland cow who wants to lean on you and sit on your feet. We bought Clifford in TN and currently lives in PA. Gentle, affectionate, housebroken, and crate trained. Good with kids and other dogs.Not neutered. Last vaccines: fall 2023 (needs updates). Severe hip dysplasia — he cannot do long staircases. Needs a single-level or ranch-style home and short, easy walks. New owners should plan on updated vaccines and ongoing joint care with their vet.

🌟 Starr 🌟 This beautiful 3 y/o girl came to us from a commercial breeder. She is about 32 pounds. She was said to be a minibernadoodle although we definitely see some Australian Shepherd in that gorgeous face! Whatever her breed mix, one thing is certain: Starr is incredibly special. When Starr first entered rescue, the world — especially humans — was scary. She simply hadn’t learned that people could be safe, gentle and kind. But over the last several months, Starr has made so much progress. She now walks beautifully on a leash, stays close to her foster mom and wants to be part of whatever is going on around her. She loves stuffies, bones, food and the company of playful, confident dogs. She has even met a cat and did great! 🐶🐱 Her biggest hurdle is still learning to fully trust people. Starr may shy away from direct eye contact, quick movements or someone reaching toward her. She isn’t going to greet her adopter by jumping into their arms. But if you give her time, patience and the freedom to come to you, you’ll start seeing glimpses of the dog hiding underneath all that uncertainty. Starr’s perfect home: -A quieter, predictable home -A calm, patient and confident adopter -At least one resident dog is required to help show her the ropes -Someone willing to provide structure and routine -A family who understands that trust isn’t built overnight -Humans who will celebrate the tiny victories right along with the big ones Starr is crate trained and sleeps comfortably in her crate at night. House-training is improving as she feels safer outside. Starr isn’t looking for someone to fix her. She’s looking for someone willing to show her, day after day, that she’s finally safe 🥹💗 There is something incredibly special about earning the trust of a dog who has every reason to be cautious. We know Starr’s person is out there — we just need this post to reach them. Starr has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines and preventatives. She is prescribed medication to alleviate her anxiety which should be continued in her forever home until a doctor says otherwise. She is being fostered in Collegeville, Montgomery County.
