Story
The application is the first step in the adoption process, so if you are interested in adopting please fill out the online adoption application  first by visiting our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    Wilbur is a 2 year old Basset Hound. Wilbur‘s family decided they didn’t have time for a young dog, so they were looking for a rescue for him. He was in Mexico, and needed vet care, so a wonderful foundation reached out to us to see if we could take him. We gladly agreed. He has been treated and is ready for his new family. Wilbur is always happy! He is a typical hound dog and vocalizes his feelings. He loves other dogs and is looking for a home with a playmate. He loves people and loves to be snuggled. Wilbur is a great dog and is looking for an equally as great family.  Wilbur‘s adoption fee: $600We do not have a kennel or facility to visit, all dogs are kept in foster homes until their forever homes are found.Adoption Process: Once an approved application is on file, we will then set up a home visit. At that time we will bring the dog to the home in which you will all be sharing. We ask the entire family to be there that day. If we all agree on the placement, then the dog will stay with you that day.  Please visit our website at www.dachshundpaws.org    November 5, 2025, 7:25 pm

Story
Winston is a loving, loveable, and energetic adult dog. We adopted him in 2014, when he was <1 year old. Unfortunately, he is protective and doesn't like strangers (particularly in his house). He has nipped "intruders" (mailman, handyman) with his small front teeth (never a full-on mouth bite), so he no longer gets to meet "come-and-go" visitors. When a new person IS introduced to his house (eg an overnight guest), he gets used to them after a period. This usually takes an evening/night of them staying at the house. After that he will be their best friend and is very snuggly and docile. Winston does not like small children, which is why we need to rehome him (baby on the way). However, he does get used to teens well, and when he does warm up to older kids, those kids seem to really enjoy his snuggly nature. Winston gets along very well with his little brother (chihuahua mix). He loves to play (wrestle, chase), and is quite gentle with his brother, even when they're really roughhousing.

Story
Hi Guys! My name is Sherlock!  I am just an incredible boy! I am Only 7 months old and super playful, loving and affectionate! My  rescue mom is so in love with me, but she told me I need my own special family. I am very much still a puppy  and I love playing and giving kisses!  Currently I weigh a bit over 36 pounds.  I would be so happy to snuggle in bed with my person, after a fun day of playing and enjoying my days with a loving family!   Now my rescue mom wants to let all of you know more about me!   Here she is... Hi, this is Sherlock's rescue mom!  Sherlock is a happy boy that needs a forever home. He is a purebred Basset Hound and 7 months old.  He is currently on Royal Canin Puppy GI food, but he should be tapering off eventually.  He is healthy and active with a true hound temperament!  Sherlock walks  on leash and loves playing and giving a lot of kisses.  Sherlock does vocalize his feelings and speaks to his people and other pets in the home .  This very typical of hounds. He will tell you with various howls and barks, what he wants.   We are looking for a breed experienced home for Sherlock! He would not be suitable for condo or apartment living, due to his hound howls. Sherlock can be placed with or without another dog.  He would love a home where he has his person home with him and is not left alone for long periods of time. *All our adoptions go out initially on a foster to adopt period. Adoption fee includes all vaccines, neuter,  and registered microchip. ##2595083##

Story
Tesha is a good dog but has a few issues.  Tesha is incontinent and is unable to control her bladder. She's about 3 years old and is a basset hound breed.  She can be aggressive with any other animals so it is best that she be in a home as an only animal in the home. She is blind in one and has chronic skin issues that will need attention daily. She can be very loving with certain individuals but does not like strange females as all. She has a fun black white and brown spotted coat. Her little tail always wags when she is happy.  She is a very loud barker but is able to be calm in the mornings but can bark at night a lot. She has been fixed and is up to date on all vaccines. We do not have a central location to see our dogs.  Meeting any dog is by appointment ONLY currently. Appointments can be set up to meet any dog in San Diego. Currently we are unable to do any out-of-state adoptions. If you are interested in a particular dog please FILL OUT an Adoption Application at our website @ http://bajadogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt/adopt and we can schedule you for an appointment to meet with a particular dog if it is available.
