Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update after I've been in my foster home about a month:  I LOVE other dogs!  I am great with the puppies that we are also fostering here.  I definitely need a playmate, and I would do well with a dog around my size or bigger who like to be rough and run around!  I would love to run around a yard with my buddy, or long walks sound nice!  I am great in my crate.  I am housebroken, but I hate going out in the rain (can you blame me?)  I love to cuddle and give kisses!!!   Hi!  I'm Chanel!! My mom really loves me, but I was just too bouncy and busy around her little girl.  I could really use a doggie playmate to bounce around with!  I'm a great girl, ready to be your best friend!  I am a little shy at first in new situations, but I'm a brave girl and I warm up quickly!! Chanel is being fostered in Charlottesville VA. Her adoption fee is $400 and she is fully up to date on her vetting. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 26, 2024, 10:45 am

Story
I am Daisy, a pleasantly plump, 8-year-old classic Basset looking for a family to smother me with love, cuddles, and treat me like the queen that I am! I came to BROOD from a home where I ate more human food than dog food and the vet said I have about 15 pounds to lose to be a perfect weight for a gal my age and size. My foster family has been working with me to cut the calories and try and increase the exercise so I will need a family willing to help on my weight loss journey!I am fully house-trained. I love roaming outside or warming myself in the sun, and sometimes I forget what I am out there to do. I will need a home with a fenced yard as I don't much care for walks for exercise. I prefer to take things at my own pace on my own schedule. I am crate-trained and sleep quietly there through the night. I love people and getting all the attention I can. I do startle pretty easily when napping, which is my favorite pastime, so I would do best in a home with older children who know to let me get my beauty rest. I need to go to a home as the only dog. I want all the attention for myself and don't like to share my family with other dogs. I don't mind the cats here--we just go our separate ways. I can be stubborn when it comes to food. I want whatever you have, my favorites are pizza, burgers, and chicken. But I won't turn down veggies and fruit either. I am learning about "cookies" and love a milk bone treat for when I am being good.I've yet to meet a person, or their food, that I didn't instantly love! Please contact BROOD today!!! My adoption fee is $200.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of many BROOD dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records. The estimate on the dog's age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup. Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record. ***BROOD's adoption fees are determined based on the age of the dog. 07/13/2024

Story
I'm Remmy, a charming 9-year-old Basset mix who came to BROOD when my previous family could no longer care for me. My sweet, easy-going, and laid-back personality makes me a wonderful addition to any family!I'm house-trained, crate-trained, and do great on a leash or during car rides. While I'm a bit shy when meeting new people, I warm up quickly to new faces and places. I get along well with everyone, including kids and other dogs, though older children who understand my shyness might be the best fit for me.Even though I'm a bit older, I'm still quite active and love playing with and chasing after balls! I'd be happy in a home with a fenced yard, but I'd also do well in an apartment or condo setting.I enjoy the company of other dogs but would be just as content as the only dog in the home. I thrive on attention and affection from my people and am always happy and easygoing. My cheerful demeanor and lovable nature are sure to bring a smile to your face!If you're ready for a loyal and loving companion who's always up for a game of ball, contact BROOD today and let's make each other's day! My adoption fee is $150.00.**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. Beagle mixCharlie was born December 8, 2021 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and Beagle dad. He is completely crate trained, and working on house training since he has been in his foster mom’s home.
