I am looking for the right home for a dog that came into our care through an unexpected situation. She originally belonged to my next-door neighbors and actually grew up next door to us alongside her sister, who lives with us. When her owners began dealing with serious health and personal issues, they were no longer able to keep her and were considering surrendering her to the pound. Rather than see that happen, we brought her into our home. Unfortunately, we already have five dogs, and transitioning into a large pack has been difficult for her. She grew up in a much quieter home with an older couple and was never really accustomed to living with several other dogs. Most of the time she does fine, but there have been serious fights with some of our dogs, including one incident that resulted in another dog suffering a significant eye injury. Huxley was born in February 2019 and is approximately 7 years old. He came to his family at around 2 years old after his previous owner could no longer keep him. He is neutered, housebroken, and kennel trained.Huxley is both friendly and affectionate with adults will be a wonderful companion once he warms up to his new surroundings. He can be a bit skittish, so he will do best with people who are patient and has time to let him decompress and build confidence/trust. The most important consideration with Huxley is finding a home that understands and can appropriately manage his history with children and food.Huxley was wonderful with his family before a baby was introduced into the home. He has a history of snapping at a toddler. Because of this history, a home without young children is required. Abigail is about 4 months old (DOB 7/1/26), spayed, up-to-date on vaccines. She is described by her owner as a beagle mix who is easy-going, friendly, happy, goofy. She loves attention and is very sweet and affectionate. Abigail is a great dog but unfortunately the resident senior Chihuahua is not a fan of sharing the house and has bit Abigail multiple times. She travels well in the car, has been exposed to crate training (but not fully crate trained), is house broken, loves to walk, loves to chew on things, and plays with the neighbor`s dogs daily! She has not been around cats, but is good with kids 3+ years old (has not been around younger kids). She will lick kids` faces and wag her tail. She can be a little hesitant of new people at first but warms up when the adults approach her.While we are sad that she needs to be rehomed, we appreciate her owner`s dedication in ensuring the senior dog remains in the home he has known and recognizes that it is best for Abigail if she gets a new home with people (and maybe other dogs) that love her without biting her :-).
