Story
8-year-old ended up at the San Diego Humane Society when his previous family decided they no longer had time for him. We welcomed Bono as a Frosted Face to help him find the loving forever home he deserves. He weighs 23 lbs. Bono spent a month in a foster home, where we learned so much more about his personality. Here’s what his foster mom had to say about him: "Bono is an incredible pup, and we truly enjoyed having him with us! Here are the many good things we learned about Bono: * Bonds deeply with his people. He picked my husband as “his person” and always wanted to be near him. * Potty trained and knows commands sit, wait, and stay * Great on walks and absolutely loves long walks and adventures. * Loves to be talked to and he listens well when corrected. * Watches TV! We would put on Dog TV or YouTube videos, and Bono would happily sit in a chair watching dogs play — sometimes barking along at the screen. * Very quiet in the home. * Takes treats very gently/ * Loves wandering around the yard and helping with garden chores. If you want a constant co-pilot, Bono is your guy! * Loves baths. * Gets along well with our other dogs once he knows them. * Rides very nicely in the car. Things to be aware of: * Bono has a strong prey drive and should not be placed in a home with small animals such as hamsters, mice, or similar pets. He became very focused on rats in the orange trees and remembered exactly where he had seen them. * Bono needs daily exercise, but he also needs help settling and decompressing. Think of him a bit like a toddler — if he becomes overtired or overstimulated and doesn’t get downtime or a nap, he can become snarky. * Bono can become protective of his people when he is worried or stressed. When my husband was sick with kidney stones, Bono began guarding the hallway to the bedroom and charged at me when I came to check on him. This involved blustering and mouth contact, but no bite. Because of this behavior, I would recommend an adults-only home. * Potential separation anxiety. If my husband left, Bono would run around looking for him. This is when we would place Bono in a quiet area and use dog YouTube videos to keep him occupied. Overall, Bono is a loving, entertaining, loyal dog who will thrive with structure, exercise, and people who understand his need for both activity and downtime. He has a huge personality and so much love to give!" To meet Bono, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

Story
Kodak entered Baldwin Park Shelter as a stray, and sadly, he was not reclaimed. We welcomed him as a Frosted Face on June 29th. Kodak is estimated to be 10 years old and weighs 19 lbs. He is a sweet and friendly boy who is good with cats, others dogs, and kids, too! Kodak is the perfect blend of cuddly companion and adventure buddy. He loves getting out to explore and has already enjoyed paddleboarding, dining at dog-friendly restaurants, and even representing FFF in San Diego's Pride Parade! Kodak adapts well to new environments, happily soaking up attention wherever he goes. He's just as content curling up in your lap for some quiet time as he is joining you on your next outing. If you're ready to go, Kodak is right there with you! Kodak went on a 3-day Frosted Field Trip, so we could learn more about him in a home setting. His foster family had only great things to report: "Kodak clearly once lived in a home where he was loved and spoiled. He’s such a sweetie and was very patient with our high energy kids (ages 5 & 6). He also did not react to our cat. Kodak loves attention and to be petted, Kodak enjoys going on walks and responds with excitement if you grab his leash or say “potty”. He likes to play outdoors and on the grass. He’s spry! He can jump quite high. He’s got great energy when he’s awake and likes to balance it out with seated snuggles and nap times. He will love being with a family that likes to take him outdoors and snuggle with him. Kodak was happy to eat kibble. He didn't eat it all at once and came back throughout the day as he wanted it. He likes treats and is very gentle when taking them. He also knows to SIT for treats. Kodak had no issues when he was home alone for two hours, and he was very excited to see us when we returned. He didn't have any accidents during his stay with us. Kodak enjoys being social and will follow you. His tail is always wagging! As soon as you sit down, he wants to join you. He wasted no time making himself comfy on our couch and taking a nap. He wanted to sleep on our bed and was willing to compromise to sleep on a dog bed at the foot of our bed, between us." Looking for a loving and fun companion with great house manners? Kodak might be the one for you! To meet Kodak, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Appa, a sweet pup who is ready to appa-reciate a patient, understanding family! He can be a little fearful at first, so he needs time, consistency, and a gentle approach to feel comfortable and secure. Physical exercise and fun mental enrichment-think sniff walks, puzzle toys, and training games-will help keep this clever guy happy and balanced. With compassion, routine, and a few tasty treats, you may find that Appa is simply air-bending your heart. At SDHS:Appa has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered.
