Story
Esther is a 25 lb, ~2-year-old independent, easygoing dog who keeps herself entertained and doesn’t need constant attention to thrive. Great with dogs of all sizes, has been around cats, and loves water. She’s a fun, low-maintenance companion for someone who appreciates a more self-sufficient dog. Esther is affectionate on her terms and happiest in a home that enjoys companionship without needing a constant shadow. Story
Meet Autumn, a sweet and spirited 3-year-old Beagle with a soft coat and an even softer heart. This precious girl is full of love for both people and other dogs but will need a dog her size or larger. She doesn't do well with small dogs. Autumn has a playful side too — her adorable zoomies are guaranteed to make you smile! Autumn is still settling in and learning the ropes of home life. She’s currently working on leash manners, house training, and keeping all four paws on the ground when greeting people because she just gets so excited to say hello. She has a ton of energy and absolutely thrives during playtime with other dogs. One of Autumn’s best qualities is her calm, easygoing nature indoors. She doesn’t bark, rides wonderfully in the car, and settles nicely in her crate at night. Whether she’s out playing or curled up beside you for snuggles, Autumn is happiest being near her humans. If you’re looking for a loving, playful companion with a gentle personality and lots of affection to give, Autumn may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Siri looks like someone took a Basset Hound body and attached a giant Beagle head to it. She has the long body, chunky build, curved feet, and classic Basset shape from head to tail. The only giveaway that something else is mixed in there are her slightly shorter ears and adorable oversized-Beagle expression. At around 2 years old, Siri is a happy, friendly girl who genuinely seems to enjoy life. She loves people, enjoys spending time with her family, and approaches the world with an easygoing attitude. Siri is wonderful with other dogs and also great with cats. She is social without being overwhelming and fits naturally into a group. She loves car rides, walks nicely on leash, and does well in a crate. In other words, she is the kind of dog that is easy to include in everyday life, whether you're running errands, taking a walk, or just relaxing at home. Most of all, Siri is sweet. She has the affectionate personality people love in both Bassets and Beagles, combined with a cheerful outlook that makes her a joy to be around. Good fit: someone looking for a friendly, happy companion who enjoys adventures, car rides, and spending time with the people she loves. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. Story
Biggs is not actually that large but boy is his personality larger than life! This little guy is go, go, go! If you`re an adventurer, a hiker, a runner, Biggs would likely be a good fit for you. He is quite affectionate but has not had much experience with kids so bring your family down to see if it`s a good match. This sweet boy would like to find an active family that will take him to meet new people and experience new things. He has lived successfully with a dog in his previous home, so if you have a resident pup, we suggest you bring them down to see if they are canine companions.

Story
Bart is a sweet, sweet, sweet 9 year old, 60 lb Hound mix with the most lovable personality. Even though this handsome guy is 9, he still has plenty of spunk left in him! Bart loves to play, gets adorable goofy bursts of energy, and is truly one of the funniest, friendliest dogs you could ever meet. One minute he's happily trotting around with a toy or bouncing around the yard, and the next he's curled up on the couch, perfectly content to be your snuggle buddy. Barts story is one that really sticks with you. He came into a very overcrowded, high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas after his owner passed away. Bart was found alone in the home, mourning the loss of his beloved human mom. He was then brought to the shelter, where he sadly ended up on the euthanasia list simply because there wasn't enough space. While we cant know every detail of Barts past, its obvious he was deeply loved. He arrived at the shelter in wonderful condition, which tells us he spent his life as someones cherished companion and best friend. Despite everything he's been through, Bart has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and full of love. He's the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people, quietly soaking up affection and giving it right back. You can truly feel how much he misses having a home and family to call his own. From Barts foster: * * * * "Bart is SUCH a good boy! He is amazing with our kids (9 & 13) and absolutely adores them. He's so patient, loving, and gentle with them, and honestly just wants to be everyones best friend. He also gets along wonderfully with both of our dogs and has fit into our home so easily. Bart walks well on leash and enjoys going for walks, but he's also a professional couch potato and loves lounging around and snuggling. One of the cutest things about him is that he'll suddenly get these playful little bursts of energy where he gets goofy, playful, and makes us laugh so hard. He really is such a funny, happy-go-lucky guy. He sleeps through the night in a dog bed next to our bed, is potty trained, and rides great in the car too. Everywhere he goes, he just wants to say hi to everyone because he is SO incredibly friendly and sweet." * * * * Bart is ready for a fresh start...a soft place to land where he can feel safe, loved, and never alone again. He has so much love left to give, and we would truly love to see him spend his golden years exactly where he belongs: in a warm, caring home surrounded by people who adore him. Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Bart in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home, or enjoy taking their furry best friend along on their adventures. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this people-loving guy. Bart is a perfect take-along guy. He enjoys the car and is very happy riding in the back seat so he can watch the activity going on outside the window.. Bart is at his absolute best with dog-crazy adults. He's much more comfortable with their quiet energy. A walk followed by time on the couch watching a favorite TV show would speak to this sweet dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a loving and responsible family. Bart has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered to support Farfel's commitment to excellent health in our dogs and zero population growth in the canine community. Our wonderful Bart is looking for his forever home now. If interested in this beautiful and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Bart please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Story
We can't talk about Lilo and Stitch without first telling Mum Myrtle's story. Poor pregnant Myrtle was caught as a stray on the streets of San Antonio and tragically found herself on the ACS (San Antonio Animal Care Services) euthanasia list. On the day she was supposed to die, a miracle happened and she gave birth, giving her precious, additional time to be rescued. We think Myrtle is a schmedium 35-40 pound Beagle mix, but Dad didn't stick around so we're not quite sure what to label these pups except... CUTE! Myrtle has a wonderful temperament and is super sweet! The puppies, Lilo and Stitch, are energetic, love toys, chase balls, are good with other dogs and kids including little kids. They are still a little bit 'in your face' puppies so not good for senior dogs who'd be disinterested or annoyed. Lilo and Stitch will be fully vaccinated Friday 2/27/2026 which makes them available to hop on the transport arriving in Colorado 3/6, or potentially sooner! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2669152##
