Penny is a 3 year old, 29 pound Blue Heeler / Beagle mix with the sweetest personality and a whole new chapter of life ahead of her!
Penny was found as a stray in New Mexico, and she was very pregnant. She gave birth to her puppies while in the shelter, and after being such a wonderful mama, Penny is finally ready for something she has been waiting for...her own forever home!
This little girl is happy, friendly, and just an absolute joy to be around. She loves people and is wonderful with other dogs, so she would be thrilled to have a doggy friend in her new home. Penny is ready to leave her past behind and enjoy all the good things life has to offer.
Penny would love a family who will include her in their adventures, give her plenty of love and attention, and let her settle into being someone's beloved companion. After everything she has been through, we think Penny deserves to be completely spoiled!
We'd like to place Penny in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.
Penny is up to date on her vaccinations, has been fully vetted, is healthy, and heartworm negative. She has also been spayed - no more puppies for this girl, ever!
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out 400 dogs each year.

Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.
