Story
** If you are interested in adopting Diane, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** "I'm shocked that sweet Betty is still counting her days in the shelter while she wonders when someone will pick her. She's so sweet, gentle, easy going, seems potty trained, is quiet in her kennel, and she adores other dogs big and small! What more can you ask for out of a dog? Betty has spent weeks being unnoticed and she's finally ready for another chance at life. Will you be Betty's hero? " This was the email we received from a small kill-shelter in New Mexico that we receive dogs from very often. We read that, and saw Betty's sweet, sweet face and couldn't resist helping this young girl! At just 1 year old, Betty had a litter of puppies, and was dumped at the shelter with them. One by one her puppies were all adopted, while she sat there waiting and waiting. Betty is a gorgeous, freckled face Beagle / Lab mix. (Although she very likely may have a few other breeds in her too!). She is 1 and a half years old, 45 lbs, and the sweetest girl. From Betty's foster: "If you’re looking for a mellow and mature girl, Betty has an old soul and is ready to live a life of comfort and love. She’s got an easy going personality, and she loves gentle pets and lounging around with other dogs. She’s ready to kiss motherhood goodbye so she can be spoiled and live the life she’s dreamt of now that she’s raised and seen off her babies. Betty has great leash skills, seems potty trained, and her social skills with other dogs are great as well. Her easy going personality, mellow energy level, and calm demeanor will make her the perfect companion!" As Betty becomes comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and show her personality more and more. It takes rescue dogs a few days typically to feel comfortable in a new home, given all that they have been through. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training. We therefore aren't willing to adopt out to a home that doesn't choose to offer this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area. Betty is up to date on her vetting/vaccinations and spayed, to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .

Story
*** If you are interested in Roscoe, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ *** Meet Roscoe! Roscoe is a super sweet boy, who is in search of a new life in Colorado. Roscoe found himself in a tiny overcrowded shelter in rural Texas after being picked up as a stray. No one ever came to reclaim Roscoe, which shocked all of the shelter staff because he is so outgoing and sweet! When no one came for him, Farfel's Rescue was reached out to to help find this sweet guy a forever home. Roscoe is 2 years old, and full grown at only 28 lbs! He is believed to be a Beagle / Cattle Dog mix. From Roscoe's foster: "Roscoe is SO sweet! He bonded to me quickly and is just such a love bug!!! He does great with other dogs. He has such a sweet and goofy personality once he settles in!! He is a bit more timid at first with men, but within about an hour he warmed up with my husband fully. He is a total snuggler and sleeps in bed with us." We'd love to find Roscoe a very loving home, that will give him the attention and affection that he deserves. With any rescue, moving from a shelter to a foster to an adoptive home can be very confusing. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect home for Roscoe. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. As any new rescue dog, Roscoe would benefit from attending a level 1 training class taught by one of our approved trainers. Farfel's Farm believes in only using positive reinforcement/force free training methods, because we have found that to be more effective. Dogs that do not get proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of developing behavioral problems, and there is a bonding that occurs through the training process that can't be duplicated. It will also teach behaviors that will enable him to go out into the world with excellent manners, and it will create a very respectful relationship between him and his owner. Roscoe has been fully vetted, is in great health, up to date on his vaccines, and neutered. Story
There's nothing quite like young dog energy and silliness...and then they lay their head quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of these young dogs alone and hungry on a scary urban street or at a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to a lack of space. Abbey, at 10 months old and just a tiny 12 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 15 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this beautiful pup. Abbey's excellent temperament and sweet as can be demeanor earned her a ticket on transport to Colorado and a brand new life. Abbey's silky coat is currently looking a bit shelter-sad. She will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are excellent lifelong protocols for longevity and hair care) to keep her coat super-healthy, shining and as soft as cotton. Abbey is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. She would be very excited to be a lap puppy and cuddle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. Sweet Abbey is so intelligent, as loving as can be and very engaging which is typical of the Beagle / Chihuahua mix. Since Abbey is just a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Abbey will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through force free / positive reinforcement virtual or in-person obedience classes. It does take some time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's feels so strongly about all dogs getting the opportunity for positive training that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose this loving option. We're open to Abbey finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and sweet young dog. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for our sweet girl. Abbey enjoys children as well. We would prefer to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a puppy that's fearful of children). Older children can also be active participants in a training regimen as well as daily backyard fun, long walks and tons of loving. Abbey's foster had the following to share about our sweet Abbey: From the moment I met Abbey, she was very laid back and a sweet girl who loves to cuddle. I picked her up from the shelter where she was a nervous nilly who was not doing well in the noisy environment.  The moment she arrived at my quiet home, she started to relax. Abbey is currently residing with me and my small adult dog who isn't very hospitable and not respectful of boundaries. Abbey made the most of it and tried to be friendly. She was a little nervous about the stairs from my apartment to outside, but with encouragement and treats, she’s able to go up and down now with no problem. Though Abbey is estimated to be less than one year, she has never nibbled on anything in my apartment, and is not interested in house plants. Please keep her away from any cords however, as she may mistake them for a chew treat.  Abbey is definitely a diva and loves to sit on the couch, jump up on chairs, or just hang out on a blanket.  I think she is just grateful to just be warm and in a safe place. Regarding toys - Abbey loves stuffy toys that make sounds.  She also loves to fetch tennis balls and chew on bully sticks. She absolutely loves snacks and I use carrots as her training treats. Abbey likes to be close to you and enjoys belly rubs and naps. Sometimes she is a playful puppy who can amuse herself with toys while at other times she loves to sleep close beside me on the couch while I'm watching a movie. As far as potty training, Abbey had a couple of accidents the first 2 days she was with me, but after that, she adjusted beautifully to a routine and had zero accidents. Abbey also knows how to use potty pads and will use them when necessary rather than having an accident. Abbey really enjoys walks and loved meeting the other furries at my apartment complex. When meeting other people, Abbey is very sweet and waits patiently for pets. Lovable Abbey likes to show her devotion by giving hugs to those she really cares about. End of week report - I’ve been leaving Abbey outside her kennel when I leave the house. She's been perfect and has only used the potty pads once. I've absolutely loved watching Abbey blossom!  She is a very sweet and kind dog who happily accepts love and returns it back to you 1000%. I wish her a safe journey to Colorado and pray that she finds her forever family very soon. That family will be getting a true gem! Abbey will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Abbey has also been spayed to support our work for zero population growth in the canine population. Abbey will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/14/2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in our wonderful pup, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Abbey please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
We rescued this cutie last year. She just turned three in May (on May 4th…she’s definitely a Star Wars fan- May the Force Be With You!). She is a bundle of joy and energy. She loves playing with other big and small dogs and kids of all ages. Above all, she LOVES food! All types. So watch out for your cat’s food or Costco’s chicken on the kitchen counter. She walks beautifully on leash and has not had any negative behaviors. She’s a happy go lucky girl! She loves companionship and you will always find her cuddling with a human or dog. Now, she does deal with anxiety and does not like being home alone. She needs to have another dog in the home to keep her company. She has mastered escaping from her kennel a few times- she’s too smart! She might have accidents (when feeling anxious and alone at home- hence why a second dog is needed in the home). She is neutered and up to date with all her shots. Beds, bowls, leashes, brush, clothes, documentation, etc. will all be included.
