Datsun has so much love to give and absolutely loves to cuddle people. He has a good heart but just had a rough start in life that has caused him to have food and territory aggression. Unfortunately, we no longer feel comfortable having Datsun around our small children (ages 2 and 9 months old). We adopted Datsun when he was 2 years old and he comes with some quirks due to that such as firework anxiety and the aggression noted above. Datsun likes other dogs but does get aggressive and territorial over toys and food. We think he would do best in a home with older kids and no other pets. Datsun is a 6 year old beagle and King Charles Spaniel mix. He is due for his annual vet visit and has a small abscess on his hind leg. Other than that he has no health concerns. Datsun is very treat motivated and is house trained, off leash trained (needs some reinforcement such as treats or collar), he knows sit, lay down, and stay.

Ranger is smart, a little shy, and needs a friend who can manage his energy. He is still a puppy, and eager to learn with someone who is willing to take the time to teach him about being a good boy. What would make Ranger happiest? A friend who will take him hiking and camping, and give him quiet evenings on the porch sipping tea and watching the sun dip below the mountains. He’d like some toys and a bed of his own. He wants someone to give him some lessons to use his smart noodle brain – we recommend puzzle toys! We’ll be honest – as long as you tell him WHY you want him to do something, he’ll figure out that you’ve got his best interests at heart, but he can be a little stubborn. I've got a voice and I'm not afraid to use it, especially when I want to show you how much I love you. I might be in a shelter now, but I'm dreaming of a home where I can run, play, and be loved. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35).
