Apply to Adopt Me! Jolene is an approx. 3-5yo, 38lb. beagle mix who is super sweet and affectionate. She came to our rescue as a stray at the shelter, where she is super skinny and her skin was a mess. She is now at a healthy weight and her skin and coat have drastically improved.   Jolene is house trained, crate trained (sleeps well inside or outside the crate), and rides well in a car. She is great with other dogs, cats and chickens. She would love a fenced yard and another dog to run and play with. She is very playful and loves stuffed toys and chew toys, and will gleefully run around celebrating when she gets a new one. Being a hound dog, she talks while she plays, but so far hasn't barked outside much, just mostly with her friends. Jolene would not be suitable for apartment life. In her new home she will need some guidance with inside manners, but she is eager to please and learn. Jolene is so sweet and wants to be a good girl. She loves to cuddle and be by your side.  She is not really food focused and tends to wander off when fed, so it is best to feed her in her own area so other dogs won't steal her food. She does great with nail trimmings and is getting used to baths. I’m semi potty trained (just accidentally goes sometimes when she’s nervous) and can get a little anxious with new spaces. I am heartworm positive and sponsored by Orange County to get treatment. She would thrive best with someone who is home more often than not because she gets anxious when people leave. She has been from shelter to foster home and is looking for consistency is her routine to help keep her calm and happy. She loves to follow you around and be next to you whenever she can. We know there has to be a special home out there for this special girl. Avery and her brother Broono are a bonded pair of 10 year old Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mixes. They are siblings/littermates who have been together in the same home for ten years. Their young owner has had them since she was only 9 years old, but tragically her mother passed away and she is unable to care for her childhood dogs on her own and has made the heartbreaking decision to have to find them a new home. They are both housebroken and crate trained. They can be shy intially with new people but warm up very quickly, especially with snacks. They love belly rubs and snackies the best. They have previously lived with another small dog and did okay, but ideally we would like to see them as the only dogs in the home to make their transition easier since transitioning two dogs who have only ever known one home is already a lot of stress. They do okay with children but because they are older and shy they would be happiest in a quieter home with only older, calm children. No kitties, please.
