Meet Belle, a gentle soul with unshakable strength and a heart full of love. Belle’s story began behind a Piggly Wiggly in Camden, AL, where she lived alongside her friends Lizzie and Buster. Life there was harsh—food was scarce, danger was constant, and survival was never guaranteed. At some point, Belle suffered a broken hind leg that healed crooked, leaving a visible reminder of her struggles. But Belle never let her past slow her down. She walks, runs, and plays like any other dog, and the only thing she carries from her injury is her remarkable resilience. The leg doesn’t affect her daily life, though we keep an eye on it since the skin there is thin. What truly defines Belle is not her scar, but her sweet, gentle nature and her quiet determination to love and be loved. With her soft eyes and tender heart, Belle is ready for a forever home where she’ll be cherished for the survivor she is. If you’re looking for a companion who embodies grace, courage, and unconditional love, Belle is waiting to meet you.

  Everyone loves a Beagle and Kenny B  is no exception to being a Beagle that especially needs love and some much needed personal guidance.  This 3 year old Beagle boy is 26 pounds and pretty much ALL Beagle.  But he needs someone to color inside the lines and shape him into an exceptional fellow that we know he is capable of being.  He was found as a stray with his brother Dean and at this stage of life he is a blank canvas that needs polishing and molding.  Kenny B is healthy and thankfully heartworm negative.  True to form this boy is full of energy and lots of hunting instincts that cannot be denied.  His mind and body and tail are always busy wagging and exploring his outdoor environment.  Fortunately despite being abandoned and found as a stray, this boy is friendly with humans, kids and other dogs are welcome new friends to discover for him.  This  boy Kenny B can accept AND give love generously and without hesitation.  And of course he needs a fenced yard that he cannot escape.  He will test you at first on that fencing thing but you as the human are smarter than him.  Secure the yard well and then no problem.  He is good on a leash and knows the sit commands only. Meet Chance Some dogs are given a name that fits them perfectly, and Chance is one of them. This sweet 5-year-old Beagle mix received his name because he was given a second chance at life—and he has embraced it with his whole heart. Meet Cici, Eumy’s tiny little sister and the smallest of all 12 siblings. At 2 months old, she weighs just 2.5 lbs — but this teeny girl has an enormous amount of love to give. Cici and her 11 siblings were found tucked into the rocks of a beach in Puerto Rico, trapped inside a little beach cave with the tide coming in. Rescuers climbed down into the rocks and pulled the babies out one by one before the water could reach them. Cici was the littlest of them all. And this girl is an absolute human lover. Cici loves, loves, LOVES people and would happily spend her entire day being carried around in someone’s arms. She is incredibly sweet, cuddly, affectionate, and just wants to be as close to her humans as physically possible. If there is an available lap, Cici plans on being in it. Based on her size now, our vet’s best guess is that Cici will stay under 25 lbs fully grown, but with rescue puppies, adult size is always a bit of a mystery! Cici is currently in Puerto Rico and is already on the docket to head stateside to a foster home — unless her forever family finds her first! Cici was almost washed away before her life had even begun. Now all this tiny girl wants is exactly what she loves most: a human to hold her close and never let her go.

Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. Everybody meet Bunnie!! This little sweetie is up for adoption and is super loving. She loves people and other dogs. She keeps her kennel really clean so we think she will be easy to housetrain. Bunnie has mid level energy and is around 40 pounds. We just don't know why she has been overlooked for so long! Story
Minnie’s Story Minnie is a one yr old female Hound Beagle mix that was rescued as a stray from a Southern rescue. She is high energy and recommend an enclosed fenced in yard to allow her to roam freely. Minnie loves to retrieve tennis balls, soccer balls and frisbees. She loves car rides and walks. Minnie loves other dogs but can be excitable when she first sees them. She loves going to dog parks. Since Minnie is very excitable we think she should be around older kids. She got along with our older cat but a slow introduction for cats is preferred. She is highly food motivated and likes to chew so keep plenty of chew toys and treats on hand. Minnie is house trained. We have left her for no more than 4 or 5 hours at a time and she does fine with our other dog in the house. So a companion dog might be good for her to play with. She loves human companionship and sleeps in our bed at night. In summary Minnie is a high energy dog so a fenced in yard is preferred.
