Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Brooks is a playful, sweet-hearted pup who will always make you smile! He loves to entertain himself (and you!) by tossing his toys in the air and catching them.  He’s a one-dog comedy show. When he’s not clowning around, he’s a total cuddlebug who loves curling up in your lap for snuggles and sleeping through the night (preferably in bed with his person). Brooks is doing well with housetraining. He’s had just one accident and keeps his kennel clean. He weighs about 25 pounds and is great on a leash, enjoying walks and the company of other dogs. He recently met a neighbor’s similar-sized female dog and, after a proper introduction, play-bowed and had a great time! He has done well in the kennel and has not shown reactivity when being let out. He was initially reactive when in his kennel.  Because Brooks is young, energetic, and still learning boundaries, he would do best in a home with no kids. He can be mouthy and sometimes treats hands like toys, so he’ll need continued guidance and consistency. Brooks can also be protective of his food and high-value items like a Kong, so care should be taken during mealtimes and when giving chews or toys.  When taking treats, though, he’s been gentle. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, Brooks will continue to grow into the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. Originally from Texas, this charming little guy is ready to find his forever family! Brooks is from Texas. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Stacy is a sweet, playful, and independent girl.. She still has her puppy energy and enjoys playtime, but when it’s time to relax, she’s more than happy to cuddle up with her favorite humans. She’s affectionate and expressive — when you pet her, she smiles and shows her happiness with the most adorable little tongue “blehps.” She has a graceful, agile way about her, almost cat-like in how she moves and carries herself. Despite not having much formal training, Stacy is a very good listener and already obeys commands well, she will be enjoyable for her future family to train and watch her blossom. Stacy seems to prefer people over other dogs, but having another dog in the home is not a deal breaker. She would just need a bit of time and patience to warm up and adjust. Her love for food is very strong — she begs and trends toward food-obsessed — which is likely a result of her past. Stacy was found alongside her sister in the middle of a busy road, searching for food, and it’s believed she experienced starvation before being rescued.  We strongly recommend feeding her inside her kennel because of this.  With consistency, love, and reassurance, she continues to learn that she is safe now. Stacy is happiest in a home that can provide structure, patience, and consistency, along with plenty of love, attention, and enrichment. She’s a thoughtful, affectionate companion who will thrive with someone who appreciates her unique personality. Stacy is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 1/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8am-Noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ladybug, a one year old beagle mix, was found as a stray.  She had been abandoned on a busy road in Texas—completely unaware of the danger she was in, cheerfully munching on whatever snack she’d discovered. She was underweight and covered in fleas, but even then, she showed nothing but a happy, resilient spirit. With some care and love, she’s started to blossom into the lovable, goofy girl she is today. Ladybug is crate trained, but it might take a treat or two to get her inside.  She is also leash trained and would LOVE to take long walks to sniff all the new scents.. its the beagle in her.  Ladybug hasn't been cat tested, but with all the rest of her beagle traits, it's probably best for her to go to a home without any kitty friends.  Ladybug is happiest when food is being served,  when she’s out and about exploring, or when she’s curled up soaking in plenty of pets and attention. Ladybug has been working on her potty training so hard, and she's doing great!  There's always a bit of regression with change, but it will just take some consistency once she finds her home in Minnesota.  Take her outside 10-20 minutes after she eats and she'll get the hang of it in no time at all!  True to her beagle roots, Ladybug is very vocal, so she’ll do best in a home without shared walls where she can freely express herself. She also loves to dig and would be thrilled to have a yard to explore, along with tough chew toys to keep her happily occupied. Ladybug would thrive in a home that appreciates her personality, gives her room to explore, and enjoys an affectionate, talkative companion.  If she sounds like the perfect match for you, please fill out an adoption application today! She can't wait to meet you!   Ladybug is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 1/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8am-Noon.
