Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Brooks is a playful, sweet-hearted pup who will always make you smile! He loves to entertain himself (and you!) by tossing his toys in the air and catching them.  He’s a one-dog comedy show. When he’s not clowning around, he’s a total cuddlebug who loves curling up in your lap for snuggles and sleeping through the night (preferably in bed with his person). Brooks is doing well with housetraining. He’s had just one accident and keeps his kennel clean. He weighs about 25 pounds and is great on a leash, enjoying walks and the company of other dogs. He recently met a neighbor’s similar-sized female dog and, after a proper introduction, play-bowed and had a great time! He has done well in the kennel and has not shown reactivity when being let out. He was initially reactive when in his kennel.  Because Brooks is young, energetic, and still learning boundaries, he would do best in a home with no kids. He can be mouthy and sometimes treats hands like toys, so he’ll need continued guidance and consistency. Brooks can also be protective of his food and high-value items like a Kong, so care should be taken during mealtimes and when giving chews or toys.  When taking treats, though, he’s been gentle. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, Brooks will continue to grow into the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. Originally from Texas, this charming little guy is ready to find his forever family! Brooks is from Texas. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2025, 1:05 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgThis poor mom was a stray who showed up at a woman’s home—but the resident dogs weren’t tolerant of newcomers, so she was left outside. Just a couple of days later, she gave birth to her 11 puppies in the carport.    The family is currently being kept in a bedroom, but it’s far from ideal. We’re working with a volunteer pilot to fly this entire family up to MARS—but they need a safe foster home ready for them when they land.   She is friendly, sweet, and appears good with other dogs. Her puppies were born November 10th and are already eating gruel twice a day If you have previously applied with us please email placement@midwestanimalrescue.org to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

Story
Hi, my name is Bandit and I am from Arkansas. From his foster: Bandit is a wonderful pup! He’s energetic and playful, especially in the yard, where he loves running around with his foster brother and sister. Despite all his energy, he’s also incredibly cuddly and loves to curl up once he’s gotten his zoomies out. He absolutely loves his Kongs and will happily keep himself entertained with them. He has been great with everyone in the house. He does well with kids and the couple of cats he has met. He eats very well and is extremely treat-motivated, which has made training easier. He’s already picking up basic manners and loves learning new things. He sleeps through the night without issues and has been doing really well in his crate; he settles down quickly. Overall, he has adapted beautifully and is showing all the signs of being a wonderful companion. He’s affectionate, smart, social, and ready to thrive in a loving forever home.

Story
Hi, my name is Walter and I am from Arkansas. From his foster: Walter “Twinkle Eyes” is a confident, cheerful little guy who loves to be active. His eyes glitter every time he’s excited or curious. He hops up and down the deck like a pro, plays with our dog nonstop, and greets everyone like they’re already part of his pack. He adores attention and follows his humans everywhere. He’s usually curled at your feet or trotting right beside you. He’s wonderful with dogs, kids, and anyone who stops to say hello. He knows exactly where to potty and lets you know when he needs to go out. His favorite place is the kitchen, where he keeps watch like a tiny hopeful chef’s assistant. He snoozes through the whole night, curled up happy and quiet like a tiny, peaceful sidekick. He’s smart, loving, active, and always ready to be someone’s loyal little shadow.
