Samantha is an approximately 6-month-old female weighing about 23 pounds, with a beautiful tri-color coat of brown, white, and black. Her start in life was challenging—she was rescued at just 6 weeks old after becoming paralyzed due to a severe intestinal parasite infestation. With prompt intervention and care from specialized veterinarians, Samantha made a complete recovery and has no resulting issues. Because she spent so much time at the veterinary clinic early on, Samantha developed a truly unique and confident personality. She is extremely energetic, playful, and thrives on interaction. She would do best in a home that already has another dog, as she loves having a playmate to match her energy. Samantha is very clever, obedient, and intelligent, and she’s eager to learn. Like any puppy, she still needs patience, consistency, and plenty of love. She is crate-friendly, primarily for sleeping, and is house-trained, as long as she is on a good schedule. Samantha is a resilient, joyful puppy ready to bring energy, intelligence, and affection into the right home. Samantha will arrive in Albion, NY in mid January and we would love to have a family waiting for her! * Please note: All dogs are rescues so we often do not know the actual breeds but use an educated guess to tell you what they most look like. Maureen is a 9 months old spayed female Beagle. She is good with kids over 10, cats and dogs. Maureen would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another dog with similar energy. She is currently in a foster home. Adoption Procedures Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $450 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please Contact Us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted. Here is the adoption process: To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $100 fee for any county animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Ashley! Ashley is a 3 year old, 30 pound female beagle/hound mix ready for a home all her own. Ashley came from a puppy mill where she knew puppies but not much kindness. Because of that, new things can feel scary to her, and her first instinct is to flee when overwhelmed. But once she feels safe with you, she transforms into the sweetest, most loving little companion. She bonds deeply, seeks affection, and truly shines. Ashley is house trained, and we’re continuing to work on leash manners (she can be a puller when excited). She does not like being crated but is also very good when left out provided no food left within reach. She does wonderfully with other dogs and she’s actually the welcoming committee for new fosters, showing them the ropes and making friends easily. She loves to play and has a joyful, puppy like energy once she’s comfortable. In her current foster home, she uses the doggy door, enjoys both the house and yard, and has settled into a normal routine beautifully. She’s finally getting a taste of what real dog life feels like, and she deserves a family who will continue giving her that stability, patience, and love. She is in a home with 2 cats and does great with them. Will play if they want to but also respects them. Ashley is an incredible girl with so much love to give. She just needs someone willing to meet her where she is and help her continue blossoming into the confident, happy dog she’s meant to be! Her spay is scheduled for end of March and this will be completed prior to finalizing any adoption but she can still go to her furever home. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. KANE is an adorable almost year old medium mix of beagle-houndish origins if we had to guess. He's sweet and loves people and gets along with all the other dogs he's met so far. He's fully vetted and he's doing great learning the ropes of leash training and has a fun, curious energy. He likes to follow his foster around the house or get comfy with them in sight. Kane's already learning some commands, as well. He loves to play and has been a big hit at events we've brought him to. He loves playing fetch and will even bring it back most of the time, He is a big cuddlebug and loves to give kisses. He's just under 50 lbs and should be about full grown or close to it. We've just learned that he is NOT great with cats. FYI he came to us quite underweight and has put on a little weight proportionately since some of the earlier pictures shown here. (est dob 2/17/25) 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing).
