Hello! My name is Boone and I have been at the shelter since 2024. I am considered a senior, but don't let that fool you- I can still get going when I want to! I love to play chase or fetch in the run, and my favorite thing of all is a walk. I do very well on the leash and have excellent manners. I know when it's time to settle down, though, and on those days you can find me stretched out (and snoring) on my nice bed. I can run and play when I want to get silly, but I am still older, and due to my age, I would like a home without younger kids. Maybe we could be retirement buddies? My favorite toys are squeaky balls and stuffed squeaky toys- although the stuffed squeaky toys never seem to last long around me. My favorite enrichment is the stuffed cardboard boxes and paper towel rolls. I have been to lots of events and places in my time here and am always a superstar. I love meeting people and do well in the car too. I'm ready to hop in one and ride away from here! I am very affectionate, too, I like belly rubs and like to lean against you. I am a "people person" and have never met a stranger! I'll get right in your lap and enjoy cuddles. When it comes to other dogs, though, I like things my way and I'm old enough that I've earned the right not to share! I don't like it when other dogs get in my personal space- after all, who likes a stranger in their face? I would like to have a place - and a person- that's all my own.

Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Pearl came to DASH with several other dogs when they were being surrendered to a high kill shelter in KY. Pearl is truly a beautiful pup. Her eyes are so expressive and just melts your heart. She is young and has had no training before coming to DASH, so she is working on crate training, going potty outside and learning what a leash is. She is very sweet and enjoys being around the younger dogs in her foster home. She would not be a good fit for older dogs, as she has a lot of energy. Her new family will need to be committed to continue to work with her on her manners as well. She loves playing in her fosters fenced in yard as well. She has not been kids or cat tested, but feel she would be fine with kids with proper introductions. This girl is ready for her forever home so she can continue to have the life she deserves. He is currently in our DASH Prison Program where his handler says he is a great dog, who loves being outside, is great on a leash and very manageable. He also loves relaxing inside after a nice walk or play session. He is crate trained, potty trained in the prison setting and is very sociable. He love female dogs, but would do best with a proper introduction to male dogs, as he can be a little picky in his male friends. He is currently learning all of his basic commands and doing really well with all of them. Due to his current foster placement he has not been introduced to children of any age or to cats so both would require proper introductions. Chomper is ready to find his forever home!
