Hello! My name is Boone and I have been at the shelter since 2024. I am considered a senior, but don't let that fool you- I can still get going when I want to! I love to play chase or fetch in the run, and my favorite thing of all is a walk. I do very well on the leash and have excellent manners. I know when it's time to settle down, though, and on those days you can find me stretched out (and snoring) on my nice bed. I can run and play when I want to get silly, but I am still older, and due to my age, I would like a home without younger kids. Maybe we could be retirement buddies? My favorite toys are squeaky balls and stuffed squeaky toys- although the stuffed squeaky toys never seem to last long around me. My favorite enrichment is the stuffed cardboard boxes and paper towel rolls. I have been to lots of events and places in my time here and am always a superstar. I love meeting people and do well in the car too. I'm ready to hop in one and ride away from here! I am very affectionate, too, I like belly rubs and like to lean against you. I am a "people person" and have never met a stranger! I'll get right in your lap and enjoy cuddles. When it comes to other dogs, though, I like things my way and I'm old enough that I've earned the right not to share! I don't like it when other dogs get in my personal space- after all, who likes a stranger in their face? I would like to have a place - and a person- that's all my own.

We got lily from a man that has her tied to a box and because of knee replacements he couldn’t taken care of her. Our beagle Tooties sister went missing on a hunt and we felt it would be good for Tootsie to have a companion but unfortunately her health is declining and she now has to live out her remaining life indoors. This leaves Lily alone outside. She cannot be left unattended as she loves to run and see the neighbors which was her previous owners complaint. She loves to ride in a car and she just wants love and attention so she doesn’t care who it is she loves all people and animals.

Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

Cannon came to DASH from rural Kentucky with 8 other dogs when their owner was going to surrender them to a high-kill shelter. Cannon is now currently in the DASH Prison Program where his handler states he is playful, zany and a little ornery, and loves to cuddle and steal the covers at night. He is working on his basic commands and has mastered a few already. He is also working on his crate training, potty training and walking on a leash, as all of those things were foreign to him. He loves people and other dogs. He has not been kid or cat tested, so proper introductions would be needed for either. This guy does bark at strangers, but his handler is working with him on that and he loves to try and steal stuff to chew on, so his new family will need to be vigilant for sure! Cannon would love to find an active family or person who understands his breed mix is going to need to be active so that he can then chill out and just hang out with you. Miss Baylen came to DASH with several other dogs where the home they were in were sending them to a high kill shelter in KY. This little girl is just the sweetest most loving dog you can imagine. All she wants is to be loved on and be the center of attention. She is young and due to the situation she came from, she is working on crate training, going potty outside and learning what a leash is. Her new family will need to continue working with her on these things. She is crated during the day while her foster mom is at work, as she will be nosey and get into things and tear up things in typical puppy fashion. She gets an activity ball and mat while in her crate along with a chew bone to keep her happy. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and loves being out in the fenced in back yard doing zoomies from one end to the other and getting the other younger dogs in on the fun! This girl is also very intelligent and training her should be a breeze once she gets all of her excess energy out. She also loves to chill on a lap or the couch and just being with her person. She has not been kid or cat tested, but feel she would be fine with kids with proper introductions. She is ready to find her forever home where she can continue to blossom into a wonderful dog!
