Story
Hello everyone! My name is Maverick!I'm the life of the party and looking for a home that has plenty of attention to give me. I'm a social butterfly and can get excited meeting new people. I am a sturdy guy and sometimes jump up because I'm so happy making new human friends. I enjoy playing with toys and would love a human friend to play with as well, but I'm also excellent at playing with my toys on my own. I am part beagle so do enjoy walks where I get to follow my hound snout. I hope you are ok stopping frequently so we can both smell the roses!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, mature and respectful children. I can be jumpy and exuberant and I am strong so little kiddos wouldn't be ideal for me. OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a friendly, easy-going dog. CATS: Potentially, with a cat confident around and experienced with dogs, and an owner experienced with the introduction.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have strong dog knowledge and good dog experience.FENCED-IN YARD: Highly recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings due to my energy level and tendency to bark.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.I'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: No. But I do have some potential food sensitivities.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!

Story
Lynsey / Female / 2 years old / 55 lbs / Mixed Breed / Medium Energy / Good with Dogs / Good with Children / No Cats Please / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto Meet Lynsey! Lynsey came to us from Tennessee where she was abandoned and brought to our partner rescue. Lynsey’s fosters describe her as an affectionate lovebug with an energetic zest for life. You can usually find Lynsey by your side, ready for hugs, kisses and cuddles - or ready to play. She loves to play with toys, have a game of fetch in the yard, or wrestle with her dog friends. Lynsey loves her trusted people and will actively seek out attention from them, whether for cuddles, pets, or play. She’s an excellent snuggler and will lean into hugs with her full body weight. She wants nothing more than to be part of your pack, and is keen to give and receive love. Lynsey can be a bit shy with new people, approaching slow and wanting to get in sniffs. She occasionally barks if someone isn’t great with respectful approaches. Once she feels comfortable she will treat new people with the same love and affection. Lynsey has such a deep connection and love for her humans. Lynsey has met older children and did ok. Given her calm affectionate nature we think she would do well in a home with respectful, dog-savvy children. Lynsey is looking for a home where she can feel safe and comfortable. She currently has access to a fenced yard, and absolutely loves to zoom around and have frequent pee breaks. She does need to be supervised at all times, though, as she has proven able to leap an almost six-foot fence to check out a nearby squirrel! She could likely thrive in more urban environments, though, if she had regular and significant walks and play time with dog friends. Lynsey can be attentive to some loud noises (e.g., garbage trucks), but is generally quite resilient and quick to bounce back. Lynsey currently lives with another dog and enjoys their company. A home with a confident resident dog to help build her confidence and be her playmate would be great. In particular, she’d love another medium to high-energy dog with whom to play wrestle and chase. She plays respectfully, engages in good role switching, and is just keen to let her boundless-energy out in positive ways. She could also do well as a solo pet so long as she is given frequent socialization opportunities. Lynsey has shown prey drive toward squirrels, cats and other non-dog animals and therefore, she is seeking a cat-free home. As a medium-energy girl, Lynsey will require at least two walks per day and other enrichment opportunities. Lynsey also takes fairly frequent bathroom breaks (every few hours) to pee in the yard. Play with other dogs is her preferred way to burn energy, but she also very much enjoys training and learning new skills, puzzles for food, and other activities that take advantage of her strong food motivation and seemingly endless appetite! Lynsey has made significant progress in leash walking thanks to ongoing training. She is eager to learn and please but does need someone committed to rewarding her good behaviour. She’s currently learning to loose-leash walk, and has been making huge progress in redirecting reactivity to other dogs through focusing exercises. Her furever family will need to be consistent in these training exercises to maintain great walking experiences, and recognize that she’s still a bit of a puppy at heart: a puppy that needs structure and opportunities to burn lots of energy in positive ways! Lynsey is adjusting well to life indoors, and her food motivation and eagerness to please makes her an excellent candidate for all kinds of training. She has been non-destructive with free range of the house when others are home, and sleeps in an XPen overnight. Due to past experiences, Lynsey does not currently like crates, however this is likely something that can be overcome with positive training. Lynsey is extremely intelligent, motivated, and strong and will thrive with proper training, guidance and love. Lynsey is a flight risk – particularly given her incredible abilities at high jump and her prey drive – and our top priority in her furever home is safety. Her forever family must take precautions to keep her safe and secure, including the purchase of a GPS tracker which will be required for adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Lynsey, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Lynsey's adoption fee is $850. Story
One of the first things most people ask about a dog is, 'what kind is she?' Much of the time we're just guessing, like with Karli here. To us her face looks like a beagle. Her ears are like a lab. Her body is kind of bully-ish...basically we have no idea what breeds she is! What we do know is that she is 100% Velcro. It's been challenging for her foster to get good photos of her, because she wants to be so close all the time. She's been a gem of a houseguest so far...quiet, well-mannered and endlessly affectionate. She's thought to be about 4 years old.Karli gets along beautifully with other dogs. Hasn't been cat-tested and probably won't get a chance to be while she's in her foster home in Houston. She needs somewhere to land in Ontario, so if you want more unconditional devotion in your life, please fill out a foster or adoption application, found on our Facebooknpage.Name: KarliWeight: ~40 PoundsGender: FemaleBreed: Beagle mixColour: Fawn w WhiteMedical (past and present) & HW Status: Healthy, HW negativeFixed: Almost!Good with adults: YesGood with kids: YesGood with dogs: YesGood with cats:UnknownHouse trained: YesCrate trained: YesCrate aggressive: NoFood aggressive: A little, with other dogsLeash trained: YesEnergy level: MediumSuitable for an apartment: Maybe! Can be handled: Yes please!Barker: Not so far!

Story
Tilly | 8 years old | 25 lb | Healthy & Smart! | Condo/Apartment Friendly| Toronto Hi, I'm Tilly, and I'm a spicy senior who will have you laughing all the time. I'm a golden girl who wants to live out my golden years with you! One of my fosters once described me as "the happiest dog she's ever met." She knows a lot of dogs, so that tells you something about my infectious and delightful personality. I came from a hoarding situation where I never got very consistent attention or care. Since my rescue, I have been learning SO MUCH to help me build my confidence and feel comfortable in new situations. I've even worked with a professional trainer, and there is a training session included with my adoption, so you and I can be set up for success. What I need from you: Consistency, structure, and leadership Plenty of love and attention A quiet household No cats (I'll chase!) ENDLESS belly rubs What you'll get from me: Great leash walks Zoomies A ton of love and cuddles The happiest companion to greet you with an adorable happy dance at the end of the day So much personality in an adorable small package So much fun I love people, and not to brag, but people love me! I've been waiting a very long time for someone to give me a home of my own. If you think I could be your golden girl, please fill out an application: https://form.jotform.com/pawsacrossthewater/adoption-application
