Story
Poppy is a stunning, 8.5yr old beagle girl. This lovely senior is a total sweetheart, despite suffering years of abuse in an animal testing laboratory. Poppy is the perfect little companion for any individual or family! Poppy loves to go on walks, spend time around other dogs, and sniff around the yard (in true beagle fashion), but more than anything... Poppy loves to be near her people! She's great with kids, too! Poppy has received an A+ in couch snuggles. Poppy has been learning lots from her two foster siblings and, while she hasn't initiated play with them yet, they have given her a lot of confidence. She would love a home that could provide her with both exercise and lots of laid-back cuddle time together. Poppy is also cat approved! If you are interested in adopting Poppy, please fill out an adoption application at https://bfp.org/rescue/ and email us with questions: adopt@bfp.org. Location: Houston, TX

Story
Hi all, I'm Brendon! I'm still getting used to having a name, since not long ago I was only seen as a number. I lived my whole life being used for toxicity tests and living without the comfort of a warm bed. Luckily BFP came, and now I'm part of the Freedom Fields family! I am starting to experience my new life and so far I love it. I am looking for a family that is kind and patient with me as I learn how to be a dog. I'd also prefer to have a friend in my home that can help teach me. I can't wait to snuggle up with my forever family! Story
Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Payday is the best day of the week! Something to look forward to and will always give you that warm, fuzzy feeling. Luckily, with me, you don't have to wait long. I'll be right at your side FULL! SPEED! AHEAD! Payday is also a candy bar with lots of nuts. I think I was named after that one because I'm NUTS too! Not the puppy making kind though, those nuts are long gone. I'm NUTS like kooky, silly, crazy! I have a lot of energy and love to zooooom, wrestle with my puppy pals, and will still play with toys even when I'm alone. I would love an active home to keep me busy and out of mischief. Even though my name is Payday, foster mom calls me THE FLEA...how rude. She says because I'm small, dark, and I can JUMP way higher than you think these short legs would launch me. Yes, I jump A LOT. Small children, beware. 3-4 foot fences, NO PROBLEM! I may have that "low-rider look, but that doesn't hold me back from getting where I want to go. Foster mom is trying to teach me not to jump so much and also not to rush out the door. I just want adventure! While I am learning new skills, I already have a lot of training down pact. I am fine in a crate and am house trained. I also do well on a leash and in the car. All the better to take me down the road for a pup cup or out to the country for a nice, fun hike. If you love PAYDAY, whether it's the day of the week or the candy bar, I'm here and READY FOR YOU! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
**URGENT** Wiggly-waggily tail girl needs immediate foster or adopter! Leela, a 4 year old girl, is a sweetheart who will wiggle her way right into your life. When you approach her, she wags her tail so much it seems to wag her whole body with joy. She is housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go out to do her thing. Leela was rescued from a mass breeder situation where she was being bullied by several other dogs. So much so that she suffered a severe eye injury as a puppy which was not properly cared for, leading to blindness in that eye. This disability has not affected her ability to love. In fact, that’s all she wants . . . someone to love her! You will quickly look past her injury and see right through to her soul. She absolutely loves to be by your side and cuddle up on the couch with you. She’ll even want to sleep on the bed with you, but she stays at the foot and isn’t a bed hog. As far as eating goes, she likes to eat throughout the day so she is one you could ‘free feed’ and she’d pick as she wants. This is NOT the norm for most beagles, who tend to gobble up every crumb at once! Because of her upbringing, she didn’t have toys so doesn’t know how to play with them. Don’t worry . . she is content to just BE with you. She doesn’t need to be entertained. She would love to be your one and only or possibly join a quiet gentle dog. Probably not any cats though. This sweetie does have a lot to say if left alone, so will need to live in a place where she can speak freely without bothering anyone! She is quiet when you are home. She is fine walking on a leash but sometimes barks when encountering other dogs - - not in an aggressive way. Just more “Yo, Dude! Wassup??” and quiets with redirection/praise. Spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped, she’s ready to go immediately! This adorable, tail-wagging girl has been waiting her whole life for someone to love. If you are looking dog who will fill your heart with joy, she is your girl! To foster OR adopt Leela, contact Kappy Hodges by emailing kappy@cascaderescue.org.
