Story
Meet Todd ❤️ Todd is proof that sometimes the quietest dogs have the biggest hearts. At 3 years old and 22 pounds, Todd is a sweet Beagle who is learning that people can be kind. He likely hasn’t had much positive experience with human companionship, so he’s still discovering what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. Every day, he grows a little more confident, and watching that progress has been incredibly rewarding. Todd was found near a property with a notorious reputation for breeding Beagles. While we can’t say for certain where he came from, his limited socialization with people suggests he may not have experienced much positive human interaction. Because of that, he was at risk of euthanasia at the shelter before getting the second chance he deserved. Now he’s surrounded by love, and he’s slowly beginning to realize that this new life is here to stay. One thing Todd already knows is that he absolutely loves other dogs. They are his comfort zone, his confidence builders, and his teachers. He thrives in the company of canine friends and would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can continue showing him that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. Todd also did well during his cat introduction, showing calm, respectful manners. As Todd is still learning to trust he'd do best with children over the age of 7 who can be patient with him and give him lots of love. Although Todd is still building trust with people, he has already made wonderful progress. He chooses to stay close to his foster, happily follows along, and is becoming more comfortable with gentle handling every day. He doesn’t ask for much—just patience, kindness, and someone willing to let him move at his own pace. Todd is also keeping his sleeping area clean overnight and has shown wonderful habits as he settles into indoor life. With consistency and encouragement, we expect him to continue blossoming into a wonderful companion. If you believe that some of life’s greatest rewards come from earning the trust of a gentle soul, Todd just might be your perfect match. The family who gives him the time he deserves will get to experience something truly special—the joy of watching a shy heart learn to love without fear. Todd's adoption fee is $295 and he's neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Apply to meet Todd today!

Story
Molly had been waiting in rescue in California since January 4th 2025 - a whopping 538 days! Molly was found as a stray in a rural orchard, pregnant. She gave birth in foster in California and all her puppies left for another rescue while Molly was left behind. When we heard Molly had been waiting so long with no adoption interest, we decided to bring her to Oregon for a better chance at finding a home. Molly is a very shy dog. This is likely why she has sat so long in her previous rescue. We can say that Molly has made leaps and bounds in her progress to acclimate to a home. She sleeps in a dog bed at the foot of her foster mom's bed each night, walks on leash, and comes up to her foster mom now to give kisses to her hand and allows her foster mom to pet her and seems to enjoy it. Mollly's foster mom can also pick her up and carry her. Molly is still getting used to touch. Molly has not shown any aggression. She just freezes or moves away if she is uncomfortable. *** Molly will need a patient, understanding person who is savvy with helping shy dogs gradually build confidence over time. She must have another friendly dog in her future home for companionship as she really follows the lead of other dogs, they help her confidence level and she loves to play with them! *** - 20 pounds and approximately 3 years old - Beagle mix. Just look at those ears! - Lower energy and loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home. She's content to nap on a dog bed and hang out and even cuddles up with the other dogs in her foster home to sleep. Her foster mom describes her as having a calm, peaceful demeanor. - Crate trained but can also be left out of her crate and has not been destructive. - Seeking an adult home since energetic children likely will overwhelm her. - We are not sure how she does with cats but will try to find a cat to test her with. - Loves other dogs and has a nice play style! - Quiet and has not been a barker. - Gathers her toys to bring them to her bed and make a cute little toy nest. - Potty habits have been good. She holds her potty through the night and has been left home alone for up to 5 hours with no potty accidents. Molly is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee includes a free wellness exam at one of our four partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Portland, Milwaukie or Tualatin. $200 adoption fee Fostered in Milwaukie, Oregon COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG
