Story
Meet Butterscotch Pie💛a perfectly squatty, slightly chunky little potato with the most incredible wrinkles you’ve ever seen. Seriously… forehead wrinkles, body wrinkles, all-the-time wrinkles. Add in her beautiful green eyes, adorable little white socks, and her golden glow, and you’ve got a total heart-stealer. She’s about 3 years old, and our best guess is a beagle/lab mix, but what we know for sure is that she’s 100% perfect. Butterscotch is a people girl through and through. She opens up quickly with new friends and is overflowing with affection. She loves being right next to her humans and is a bit of a Velcro dog, following you around, settling close by, and soaking up every bit of love you’re willing to give. Belly rubs are her absolute favorite activity (she will dramatically plop right over for them), and booty scratches are a close second! She arches her back and leans into them like a pro. She’s also happy to jump up for affection and will gladly tolerate being scooped up when needed. Watch Butterscotch Pie’s video here to see her belly and booty get all the scratches! https://youtu.be/NniJiyLua5E?si=47eE1EB3aa7_FlzA On leash, Butterscotch is a pretty easy walk. She’s responsive, checks in quickly, and doesn’t need much guidance, just gentle handling and calm movements, as she can flinch with sudden leash motions. She’s eager to please and enjoys going out with her people. With dogs, Butterscotch is currently more polite than playful. She can be a bit insecure at first, especially with higher-energy or pushy dogs, but she communicates clearly and appropriately when she needs space. She’s done best with calmer, respectful dogs and would be happiest with a low to medium-energy dog sibling who matches her vibe. With time and confidence, she may become more playful, but right now she prefers relaxed companionship and roaming together over roughhousing. Cats are a no for Butterscotch — they’re just a little too interesting for her. Butterscotch absolutely nailed her kid test! She was incredibly calm, gentle, and loving with the kiddos—showering them with sweet face kisses, happily sitting in their laps, and soaking up every bit of attention. Her favorite move? Flopping right over for belly rubs any chance she got and very politely demanding more the second you stopped. She was relaxed, affectionate, and completely comfortable, showing just how much she enjoys being around children. With her sweet nature and family-friendly heart, Butterscotch would make an amazing family dog who’s ready to love her people with her whole soul. Butterscotch would do well in either a house with a yard or an apartment. She may need a short adjustment period to fully settle in, but once she does, she blossoms into a loving, loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be near her people. If you’re looking for a wrinkly, cuddly, booty-scratch-loving best friend who will stick by your side and fill your days with sweetness, Butterscotch is ready to wiggle her way right into your heart! ❤️ Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Now fostered in Mercer Island wa! Lucy is a sweet little soul searching for safety and love. Lucy’s story tugs at the heart. Estimated to be around 5–6 years old and weighing 35 lbs, this gentle girl likely has some Beagle, maybe Pug, honestly someone even said Shar Pei. Truthfully, with a rescue the true mis is hers, but what truly defines her isn’t her breed, but her beautiful, quiet spirit. Take a look at her sweetness in motion then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/i9NtuQKvz5w When Lucy’s former owner was taken to the hospital, she suddenly found herself without the familiar world she knew. Understandably, she’s been a little scared since. During her assessment, she sought comfort in the kindest way- leaning into a lap for reassurance and slowly learning that she was surrounded by gentle hands and calm voices and meant safety. Her foster shared that Lucy’s affection shines through once she starts to trust, which doesn’t take much time at all. “She lights up when she sees someone she knows,” they said. “The moment she recognizes you, her tail gives this soft little wag that says she’s happy to see you.” Lucy is looking for a peaceful home with a family that understands the beauty of quiet companionship. She’ll blossom with calm, consistent love and would do best with adults who are happy to take it slow at first knowing it is well worth it for what is on the other side. With other dogs, Lucy is polite but she prefers calm, easy-going canine friends who respect her boundaries and let her open up at her own pace. It is easy to see that her true comfort is with small dogs and even feline friends. She has lived peacefully with dogs before and seemed to quickie relax as she greeted each new dog, preferring calmer, companion type dogs. A calm, aloof male or gentle small dog would be a great match. She also met our resident house cat and despite his spicy approach, she did beautifully. She sniffed politely, wagged her tail softly, and then walked away a few steps to laydown and rest, “Nice to meet you!” Two fast tracks to Lucy’s heart- sweet talk and canned cheese, she accepts both with gentle gratitude. She’s not one for chaos or loud noises, so a home with a yard (rather than an apartment) will suit her best. Once she trusts her person, she’ll love to follow you from room to room- content to just be near you. All she needs is patience, gentleness, and love- and she’ll give it back tenfold. If you’re the kind of person who finds beauty in earning a shy dog’s trust, Lucy will be the most rewarding companion you could ask for. Ready to welcome Lucy home? Story
Using the word perfect to describe a dog feels subjective but this dog is truly perfect! There is not a person/ home/day that this dog wouldn’t make better. She is a little bit tender, a little bit thoughtful, and very, very easy to be immediately smitten with.. She doesn’t rush into the spotlight, but once you notice her, you won’t want to much more than look at her and gush over how perfect she is! Go watch her in action on YouTube- then come right back, to read more about her! https://youtu.be/NIijLO8vaC0 Bumble is estimated to be around 1 year old and weighs 21 lbs. She appears to be a Beagle mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are our best guess. What we can say for sure is that she is in that beautiful phase where she is young but already showing her personality, and it is such a sweet one! Let’s talk about her nature, because that is really where Bumble shines. She is a soft, observant girl in new environments but sweet and gentle meeting new people. She has moments where she wants to take it in versus rushing in, she may hang back at first, but she settles in with a little time and a gentle approach. Beyond that short moment, she is affectionate, cuddly, and happiest to be close to her people. Her foster shared that she’s wonderful with kids, she lives with a 9 and 15 year old, and has an easy, gentle presence in the home. She doesn’t bring chaos with her, just a calm, sweet energy that makes everything feel softer. With other dogs, Bumble is polite and unbothered. She has lived with multiple dogs of all sizes, from fellow beagles to Great Danes, and does beautifully. She doesn’t feel the need to jump into play right away and is happy to coexist peacefully, but she’s friendly and appropriate when interacting. She would do well with a playful dog or a more laid-back companion, depending on what her person is looking for. She is also cat friendly and currently living successfully with cats, showing respectful, easy-going behavior around them. Bumble is house trained and will walk to the door to let you know when she needs to go out. She rides nicely in the car and has basic leash skills but is undoubtedly a bit more interested in sniffaris vs. long haul walks. When a walk is in order she does well with guidance and consistency will help her learn that walks are for more than just her beagle nose.. She enjoys toys and chews and has great house manners. Her foster shared that she has been wonderfully trustworthy and hasn’t shown interest in getting into things she shouldn’t. If Bumble had to be summed up with three words it would be- gentle, steady, and devoted. She’s not here to overwhelm you with big, bold energy. She’s here to be your soft place at the end of the day. The kind of dog who settles in beside you, leans in just a little, and makes your world feel calmer without even trying. She will be looking forward to that moment as much as you every day. Bumble is ready and waiting but she won’t be waiting long so do not hesitate, if she has stole your heart the was she did our, apply today! Perfection like this exists and here is your chance to experience it! Apply today: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69b8543d8b3482d2d804c02f Questions? If you ever wanted a dog who dances for attention, has the cutest floppy ears, and acts like every human is her favorite human, well congratulations! Your search is officially over because Katniss Everdeen is exactly that. She doesn’t just walk into a room, she makes an entrance. Little paw taps, happy wiggles, and a grin that says she absolutely knows how cute she is. Whether she’s dancing her way into your heart or flashing that perfect smile, Katniss Everdeen’s personality is pure joy wrapped in a tiny, fabulous package. Basically, if happiness had floppy ears and signature dance move, it would be Katniss Everdeen. Watch her video and fall in love with this dancing diva: https://youtu.be/5wgxwQLO5Uo?si=4sBUygiJVB1JvGar Katniss Everdeen is believed to be a Beagle mix approximately 5 years old and currently weighs 16 lbs. She is rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Katniss loves people, has the best personality, and thrives on attention, obviously. She’s the kind of pup who wants to be close. Snuggling, cuddling, and handing out sweet kisses like it’s her full-time career. If you’re looking for a dog who truly bonds with her person, Katniss is your girl. What really sets her apart? Her entertainment factor is elite. She loves to “dance” and uses her paws to politely (and adorably) tap you for attention. She knows exactly how to make everyone laugh, and she expects applause. Katniss does great with dogs, big and small! There is no such thing as “too big” for this girl to make doggy friends with. She is a confident little queen and will be friends with any dog, any size. Katniss loves to play with other dogs, romp around, and wrestle. She does take a moment to warm up with new dogs and isn’t the type that is going to instantly want to play, but give her some time and she’ll be playing in no time. Katiniss also isn’t play 24/7. She loves to explore and do her own thing as well. Katniss would do great with a doggy friend that is her happy medium. Playful when the time presents itself and relaxed when it’s time for a nap. Katniss has also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Katniss is playful, affectionate, funny, and full of love. She’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter just by being herself and she’s ready to bring that sparkle home for good. We can see her thriving in a home with a backyard, and we also believe she would do beautifully in an apartment or condo. She doesn’t require much exercise, a simple walk around the neighborhood, playtime with her new fur siblings, or time with her human is all she needs. She’s also perfectly happy snuggling on the couch while you binge-watch your favorite show. It doesn’t take much to make her happy. She just wants to be loved, be with her people, and continue being the happy little dancing queen she is. If you’re searching for a small dog with a huge heart, endless charm, and main-character energy, Katniss Everdeen is ready to meet you! We are willing to test Katniss Everdeen with anything you need in order ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? If you are interested in Titus, please fill out an application at https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform** Meet Titus — A Loyal, Well-Mannered Guardian Looking for a Quiet Home Titus is a 7–8 year old Pit Bull/Beagle mix with a beautiful brown coat and an incredibly loyal heart. He’s very obedient, kennel trained, and fully housebroken. Titus has been raised with children from infancy through age 12 and has always been a loving, protective companion. However, as he’s gotten older, he prefers a calmer environment, so he’s looking for a home with no children. Titus can be wary of new people at first, but once he warms up, he’s very affectionate and devoted. He has lived with a variety of animals—including female dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and even puppies—and has done well with them. He does need to be the only male dog in the home. A natural guard dog, Titus takes his job seriously and will always alert you when someone unfamiliar is approaching. Because of his protective nature and preference for routine, he’ll thrive best with a patient, experienced handler who understands his personality. Titus is not neutered. His need for a new home is through no fault of his own—his family experienced a house flood and had to move somewhere with landlord restrictions that unfortunately do not allow him. Titus is truly a wonderful dog with so much loyalty and love to give. He just needs the right, peaceful home where he can feel safe and continue being the incredible companion he’s always been.
