Story
Meet Butterscotch Pie💛a perfectly squatty, slightly chunky little potato with the most incredible wrinkles you’ve ever seen. Seriously… forehead wrinkles, body wrinkles, all-the-time wrinkles. Add in her beautiful green eyes, adorable little white socks, and her golden glow, and you’ve got a total heart-stealer. She’s about 3 years old, and our best guess is a beagle/lab mix, but what we know for sure is that she’s 100% perfect. Butterscotch is a people girl through and through. She opens up quickly with new friends and is overflowing with affection. She loves being right next to her humans and is a bit of a Velcro dog, following you around, settling close by, and soaking up every bit of love you’re willing to give. Belly rubs are her absolute favorite activity (she will dramatically plop right over for them), and booty scratches are a close second! She arches her back and leans into them like a pro. She’s also happy to jump up for affection and will gladly tolerate being scooped up when needed. Watch Butterscotch Pie’s video here to see her belly and booty get all the scratches! https://youtu.be/NniJiyLua5E?si=47eE1EB3aa7_FlzA On leash, Butterscotch is a pretty easy walk. She’s responsive, checks in quickly, and doesn’t need much guidance, just gentle handling and calm movements, as she can flinch with sudden leash motions. She’s eager to please and enjoys going out with her people. With dogs, Butterscotch is currently more polite than playful. She can be a bit insecure at first, especially with higher-energy or pushy dogs, but she communicates clearly and appropriately when she needs space. She’s done best with calmer, respectful dogs and would be happiest with a low to medium-energy dog sibling who matches her vibe. With time and confidence, she may become more playful, but right now she prefers relaxed companionship and roaming together over roughhousing. Cats are a no for Butterscotch — they’re just a little too interesting for her. Butterscotch absolutely nailed her kid test! She was incredibly calm, gentle, and loving with the kiddos—showering them with sweet face kisses, happily sitting in their laps, and soaking up every bit of attention. Her favorite move? Flopping right over for belly rubs any chance she got and very politely demanding more the second you stopped. She was relaxed, affectionate, and completely comfortable, showing just how much she enjoys being around children. With her sweet nature and family-friendly heart, Butterscotch would make an amazing family dog who’s ready to love her people with her whole soul. Butterscotch would do well in either a house with a yard or an apartment. She may need a short adjustment period to fully settle in, but once she does, she blossoms into a loving, loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be near her people. If you’re looking for a wrinkly, cuddly, booty-scratch-loving best friend who will stick by your side and fill your days with sweetness, Butterscotch is ready to wiggle her way right into your heart! ❤️ Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? ***This dog is NOT in the direct care of Happy Tails Happy Homes rescue. Rather, his current owner needs to find him a new home at no fault of his own. If you are interested in Ben, please fill out an application here: https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform *** Meet Ben 🐾 Ben is a sweet, lovable Beagle with a gentle soul who thrives in a calm, relaxed environment. At nearly four years old, he’s the perfect mix of adventure buddy and laid-back couch companion. Ben has low to medium energy—he loves his daily walks or hikes, but once he’s had his exercise, he’s more than happy to spend the rest of the day lounging around the house, especially if there’s a sunny spot to stretch out in. Ben is crate trained, house trained, and very well behaved in the home—he doesn’t chew or destroy things. He knows his basic commands and walks like a champ on leash. One of his favorite activities is splashing around in a creek, and he’ll happily play tug-of-war with a big stick during outdoor adventures. He’s also very food motivated and will do just about anything for a tasty treat. Ben forms strong bonds with his people and loves affection, cuddles, and lots of pets. Because he values a peaceful environment, he would do best in a home with a consistent routine and lower household traffic. Frequent visitors, loud voices, and high-energy children can make him uncomfortable, so patient introductions to new people are important. He is especially sensitive about being touched around his lower back and hindquarters. He does well with children as long as they are respectful of his space and aren't too active or hyper. Outside the home, Ben generally does well with people and tends to ignore other dogs, though he prefers they don’t approach him too closely while he’s on leash. Ben would thrive with an individual or family who enjoys daily walks, appreciates quiet companionship, and is willing to give him the patience and stability he needs to feel secure. In return, he’ll offer loyal companionship, plenty of snuggles, and a sweet presence that makes a house feel like home. If Ben sounds like he could be your next buddy, please fill out an application at: https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform

Rowdy is a little shy with new people. Shes great with all dogs she meets and would be best on a home with another dog to help her adjust. Rowdy is curious in new situations, but life up until recently, hasnt been kind to her..... so she will need time to get comfortable and then her true goofy nature will emerge! Like a butterfly, Rowdy is a much different pup than when she 1st came to us from the pound, with no hope of getting out :( UNTIL the rescue chick saw me and knew i was a diamond in the RUFF ;) Rowdy needs a patient home who will give her time to warm up, open up & trust. Older kids only would be best for her and a fully fenced yard is a must. Until she settles in she'll be an escape risk. An apartment would work for Rowdy as well. She is ready for her furever family!! Apply soon! Local adoption only $200, in TX

Say hello to Calvin! Mr. Calvin here might be the Calvin to your Hobbes, he's so sweet! Calvin was given up by his finder to our rescue recently but he's in good hands. He instantly warmed up and got along with everyone here as soon as we got him. Calvin is a Beagle mix, he's a bit of a bigger boy with his stubby legs- kind of like a super solid beagle but isn't short. Calvin loves getting attention, he'll bump you with his head so you notice and pay attention to him! He'll need a bit of leash work but is very eager to get to work! That is what people notice most about Calvin, is his eagerness. He will need slow introductions to other people and animals as he can warm up to others slowly sometimes. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
