Story
Sophie, a 9-year-old beagle mix, is the ultimate social butterfly—she adores dogs, cats, people, and even carrots! She’s happiest on a stroll but also enjoys neighborhood watch duty from her favorite cozy spot. Though she was recently diagnosed with diabetes, she’s doing well with insulin management. Her BFF, Scout, is a 10-year-old shih tzu mix who started life in a puppy mill, making her a bit shy around humans. But when it comes to dogs—especially Sophie—Scout is all in. Scout enjoys walks alongside Sophie, though she prefers to avoid grass.Sophie is potty-trained, while Scout prefers using a potty pad due to lingering effects from her early life. Both are up to date on vaccines and looking for a home filled with love. Can you give this loveable, bonded pair a safe space? If you are interested in fostering, adopting, or fostering to adopt these besties, we`d love to hear from you!

Story
Huckleberry was released from Ridglan and transferred to a shelter. When he wasn’t thriving there, he was transferred to our program. Huckleberry very much loves other dogs and like many of the beagles, would thrive with a confident canine companion. He is still learning the safety of the world and takes comfort in canine company. He’s is incredibly soft and sweet and loves to be pet. He’s a very good boy and will make a wonderful family member for a patient home. Fenced yards are ideal for safety and he loves to explore the grass and feel the sun on his floppy ears. Huckleberry has not had an accident in his foster home, which is not a very common thing! He still struggles going inside and outside and needs to be carried in when he is ready. He will sit in the grass and wait for his foster mom to come and pick him up. Huckleberry loves soft beds and has picked up a toy or two. His foster home has multiple crates available and he will choose to lay in one and chooses to sleep in one at night, with the door open. He likes routine and comfort and a patient home that can give that to him will be rewarded with his love for life! Huckleberry was adopted and is now being returned as his adopter injured her back and can no longer carry him in and out. He requires a fenced yard and another dog in his adoptive home. Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250.
