Story
My family rescued Zara when she was about a year old and she is now approximately 2 years old. She is loving, full of energy, and would make a perfect member of any family. Shortly after adopting her, we found out we were having another baby and since my job requires me to be gone for most of the daytime, my partner doesn't really have the time or attention capacity for her unfortunately. We would love for her to go to an experienced person because Zara is a fairly large, hyper dog. She just needs some designated attention, someone who can take her out and run her energy off, and someone who is patient. She is a bit territorial. Because of how much great time she has here at our house. With some undivided attention, we feel she can make a great companion.

Story
Dakota (female, non-altered) needs a new home as our living situation has changed and we don't have the time with her as we initially planned. Breed: GSD/Belgian Malinois mix DOB: 08.10.2019 Great with kids. Has lots of drive, loves to cuddle and be with the family. Basic obedience. Has been around other dogs but likes to be the dominant one. Current on shots and is chipped. We would love Dakota to go to a home with will have time for her and love on her.

Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - PetSmart 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. Adoption Fee:  $350.00 Chili is estimated to be about a 5 months old Belgian Malinois mix and right now he’s weighing in at about 38 lbs. He is on the thin side as he has been recovering from a severe GI upset. He came to us as a stray at a local shelter, so not much is known about his background. We are currently waiting for Embark DNA panel results to tell us what breed he is mixed with.  Chili is being fostered with 4 other Malinois ranging from 13 years old to 1 year old. He enjoys the company of the younger dog the most, as he can typically entice him to play pretty easily. Chili likes to chase chase chase and is currently learning what behaviors are appropriate during play, as he tends to bark and be extremely pushy when engaging with the other dogs. Chili is being fostered on a ranch where he has access to swim in a pond, which is his favorite thing to do. We cannot keep this boy out of the water! Chili is typically off leash when out with the other dogs, he comes when he’s called and knows his name well.  Chili loves to chase the ball, mainly when the other dogs are interested in it but he loses interest pretty quickly. He will pick it up but drop it after a few steps and be on to the next best thing. He does not care to tug or chase any kind of toys or flirt pole. Chili has fairly low food drive as well, but that could also be due to not feeling the best lately. We are aware that Belgian Malinois are typically police, sport and working dogs. Chili does not have the drive nor temperament to become a working dog, so we are looking for an active pet home for him. True to Malinois nature, chili is high energy and go go go. Two of his foster brothers are working Malinois and he will easily give them a run for their money energy wise. He loves to sprint circles around the other dogs first thing in the morning and enjoys a good race next to the side by side around the property. His temperament towards people can be described as very sweet. He wants to crawl up in your lap any chance he gets and he’s learning to keep all 4 feet on the floor when excited. Chili is accustomed to an outdoor kennel during the day while his foster mom is working. He gets multiple breaks throughout the day and is usually exercised with the other dogs 3 times a day. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night and doesn’t have any accidents. He is very good about going outside and going potty right away. Chili enjoys riding in the car, he hops right in and rides nicely in a travel crate.  The ideal home for Chili would be with someone who has time to dedicate towards training and socializing him, can provide him with an appropriate outlet for his energy level and knowledge on the breed as well as providing structure.  Chili has not been exposed to any cats or small furry critters.  Level 3 Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
