Story
Gorgeous young Kira is athletic and strong. When she arrived at the shelter, she was quite shy and it took a while to adjust to the loud kennel noises. But now we're seeing her true fun personality coming out. She loves to play with toys and can actually dribble balls between her feet (really!). She is loyal and sweet and loves walks and being active. We're looking forward to someone seeing just how special she is.Her perfect match will have to keep up with her need for high physical activity and drive. If you're up for the challenge, come meet her during our walk-in hours Friday and Saturday or by appointment Monday through Thursday, 11-3. Adoption fees are $50 and include microchip, spay, and all up-to-date vaccinations. Adoptions are always free for veterans. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
*Courtesy post - if interested in this pet please contact the owner Anthony at anthonysegoviano27@gmail.com*  Rey is a sweet girl looking for her forever family. Rey is about 1 year old and full of love. Rey is a Belgian Malinois and would do best in a home familiar with the breed. She loves everyone she meets, though she can sometimes have a hard time containing her excitement! Rey has been around other dogs and did ok with them. We are not sure about cats but feel she could be fine. She is mostly housetrained though does have the occasional accident if we wait too long between taking her out.  *Courtesy post - if interested in this pet please contact the owner Anthony at anthonysegoviano27@gmail.com*      All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Story
Meet Lucre, A Hidden Gem Ready to ShineLucre is a gentle 6-year-old Belgian Malinois who is patiently waiting for her moment to be seen. She is not the flashiest pup in the kennel, but what she lacks in flair, she makes up for in heart. With a calm soul and kind eyes, Lucre is the kind of companion who grows on you in the most beautiful way.She loves going on walks where she can take in the world with her nose, sniffing every good smell along the way. A true water girl at heart, Lucre lights up around a pool. While she can be a little shy at first, give her a little time, and she will show you just how affectionate she can be.Lucre walks well on leash and is very treat-motivated (a great combo for training!). She may bounce with excitement when she is happy to see you, and she seems to be potty trained too.She has been overlooked for far too long, but Lucre is so ready to find a home where she can feel safe, loved, and finally appreciated for the sweet, soulful dog she is. Could that be with you? All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Story
Dogs don't come any cuter than Daffodil! Daffodil is an approximately 3-year-old bundle of fun who is eager to find her forever home. She is the sweetest girl who will happily make herself comfy in your lap and cover your face in kisses. We haven't had the heart to tell her she is slightly too big to be a lap dog. Daffodil is fully grown and weighs around 60lbs (although she could benefit from losing a few pounds). Daffodil came to us after she was found as a stray. One of our foster homes agreed to take her in until an owner was found, but an owner never came forward. A couple of weeks after she was found, Daffodil gave birth to 9 puppies! All of her puppies have been adopted, so now it's her turn! Daffodil is a wiggly goofball and loves to explore and go on adventures. Now that she doesn't have to care for her babies, she is ready to enjoy life and soak up all the human attention for herself. Daffodil has been doing great learning her basic manners, and has learned "sit". She is very food-motivated, which makes training a blast. Her new family will need to be prepared to dedicate the time to continue to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Daffodil would do best with someone who has large dog experience, as she is a strong and enthusiastic girl. Daffodil is a moderate-energy gal. When she's at home, she is happy to chill on the couch and enjoy movie marathons, but she also has the energy for long walks and hikes. She loves car rides and hops right in and is ready to go. She loves making new human friends and has been a popular girl at our adoption events. She is quick to cover your face in kisses and will lean into you for a hug. She oozes happiness and can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Daffodil has done well living with other dogs, but also would thrive as your one and only canine companion. She does best with dogs around her size, as she is a wrestle-mania type of girl and would likely be too much for a small dog. She needs a kitty-free home. Due to her rambunctious nature, Daffodil would do best with an adult-only home or with kids 12 years or older. Daffodil has been doing very well with her house and crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate and has done well hanging out in there when her foster mom is at work or gone for a few hours. Daffodil is such a sweet girl, and she deserves her happy-ever-after. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Daffodil's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. May 5, 2025, 1:25 pm
