Story
Molly is a 1 year old Belgian Malinois mix with a lot of energy and love to give. She would thrive with structure and exercise. She cannot be around any small animals, including cats and small dogs. She is very sweet with people, but jumpy, so she should not be around small children. She does not like strange dogs, so introduce other large dogs slowly over time.

Paige is a 35 lb 1 year old female German shepherd mixed with a smaller breed, so she is the perfect size. She is playful and snuggly. She loves cuddles, belly rubs, toys, and treats. She is high energy and loves to go on walks and hikes. She would be a great companion for an active person or family. Paige was going to be euthanized at a high kill shelter after being found as a stray, until our rescue saved her. She is set to be spayed soon and will be before she goes to her new home. She is already vaccinated and microchipped. She has not been tested with cats or other dogs yet.

Story
Meet Dustin, a handsome 10-month-old, 43-pound Dutch Shepherd/Malinois/Collie mix with a beautiful brindle coat and a very sweet personality. Dustin is what we like to call an active cuddler. He’s happy to play, loves his toys, and is always excited to see his person in the morning, but he also loves being close and settling in for affection. He’s soft, sensitive, and a little shy at first, but not fearful. Dustin had a rough start and was rescued after being found starving and nearly hairless. After treatment and lots of care, he has recovered beautifully and now has a shiny brindle coat to prove it. He’s ready to leave that chapter behind and find a family of his own. What to know about Dustin: - Neutered and fully vetted - Sweet, sensitive, and affectionate - Playful and loves toys - Happy and excited to see his people - Easy to handle on leash and still learning how walks work - May occasionally “pancake” when he’s unsure - Can be an only dog Dustin has already come such a long way. Now all this sweet boy needs is a family who will give him the love, patience, and security he deserves while he continues learning just how good life can be. Currently fostered in Davis, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
Betsy was born on April 20th 2026 after we rescued her pregnant mom from euthanasia at an overcrowded shelter. She is 4 months old and a ball of energy and love! Betsy is vaccinated and spayed. Her mom is a German shepherd and her DNA test said dad is a Malinois/husky/cane corse mix. She is a typical 4 month old puppy: energetic, teething, and vocal. She is pretty good about potty training. Betsy can be shy at first, but she does warm up quickly. She loves other dogs and water.

Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - Strand Hardware Store 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location.  Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Kolton is a handsome four-year-old Belgian Malinois. He came from a shelter, so not much is known about his past. While it seems, he wasn't offered much training in the past, he is absolutely a quick learner. He has learned all the basics and continues to pick up more every day. He loves riding in the car and sticking his nose out the window to smell every scent the world has to offer. His other favorite thing in life is cuddling up and sleeping next to his person. He is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate all night long. He is a high energy boy and a bit of a Mexican jumping bean. He is exceptionally athletic and will need to be with somebody who will continue to provide him with the daily exercise and training that he enjoys. Kolton will do well with an active person who is always on to the next adventure. Level 3 Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. Additional Adoption Information For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state. Puppy Requirements We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy or email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information. Thank you for visiting! September 13, 2026, 4:49 pm

Story
Meet Erica, a playful, affectionate 1.5-year-old girl weighing about 55 pounds who is eager to learn and loves having a job to do. Erica is smart, curious, and very tuned in to her people. She rides calmly in the car, is house trained and crate trained, and already has some great basic skills. She can be a little cautious with new people at first, but give her some time and space and she warms up into a cuddly, silly girl who loves attention, belly rubs, toys, and playtime. She also does wonderfully with other dogs and currently lives with dogs of different sizes, breeds, and sexes. Why you'll love Erica: - 1.5 years old and about 55 pounds - House trained and crate trained - Calm and easy in the car - Good recall on a long line - Knows basic commands and loves learning - Very dog friendly with great social skills - No resource guarding with food or toys - Playful, fun, and loves fetch, wrestling, and zoomies - Affectionate and loves cuddles, pets, and belly rubs - Settles nicely in public around people, kids, bikes, dogs, and other distractions - Comfortable being handled and geared up - Quiet in the home - Food motivated, but loves praise and affection even more - Still working on loose-leash walking Erica is the kind of dog who really wants to connect with her person. She’s playful when it’s time to have fun, affectionate when it’s time to relax, and always ready to learn something new. Give her a little time to get comfortable, and you’ll get to see the sweet, goofy, loving girl underneath. Currently fostered in Davis, CA. Interested in adopting? 1.
