You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 02/08/2021 Requires another dog in home: No, picky about her friends Okay with dogs of all sizes: Not good with small dogs - read more in profile  Okay with cats: No, dog savvy cats only Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, considerate kids only Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. I am an unpredictable gal with a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me; I’m reactive when it comes to other dogs or unknown/sudden sounds like bikes whizzing by etc.; and I’m a pack follower so if there’s a fight, I may feel compelled to join the chaos. That said, I went to a training facility where there were many other dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I may overcome these ‘quirks’ of mine!! Hee, hee! Anyway, my favorite activities include cuddling with my people; going for leashed walks; snoozing on the couch; eating; playing with squeaky toys; chewing on bones/sticks; chasing the cat; chilling with my canine sib; running zoomies; and barking at strangers outside! I don’t like a lot of commotion and have been known to bite if someone comes into the house when foster mom is not home. I am, however, a very smart girl who will not only give myself a kenneled ‘time-out’ if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! Hee, hee!! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Meet Lydia! 🐾 Lydia is a German Shepherd mix who has been with her foster mom since she was just six weeks old, growing up alongside three human siblings who adore her. She’s still a puppy in every sense of the word — full of energy, personality, and enough charm to make you forget she just chewed something she wasn’t supposed to. The Love Bug: Lydia is a certified cuddle enthusiast who will flash her tummy at anyone within scratching distance, because she knows exactly how irresistible she is. Love from Lydia comes fast and furious — expect a flurry of kisses before her puppy energy kicks in and she’s already bouncing off to her next adventure. She soaks up every pet and scritch she can get, though sitting still long enough to enjoy them is still a work in progress! The Playful Girl: Fetch is Lydia’s love language — throw the ball once and you’d better be ready to keep going, because she will bring it back every single time and stare you down until you throw it again. When she’s not playing fetch, she roams the house on a mission to bring you every object she can find — a sock, a stick, a toy from the corner — consider it her gift to you. She’s also discovered that launching toys down the stairs is endlessly entertaining, so expect the occasional thud followed by a very proud puppy face. After all that action, Himalayan bones are her go-to for winding those busy jaws down. The Character: Lydia is overflowing with personality and she wants the whole world to know it. Mornings kick off with a full-body wiggle that could power a small city. Feeding time turns into a spinning performance — standing still while waiting for her bowl is simply not in her vocabulary. Then there are the zoomies — one moment she’s the calmest, sweetest girl, and the next she’s a fur blur ricocheting around the room for absolutely no reason. She’s also vocal and will let you know immediately when someone’s at the door or when a mysterious noise requires investigation. Life with Lydia is never dull, and honestly, you wouldn’t have it any other way. A Day in Lydia’s Life: Lydia’s days are pretty wonderful, and she knows it. She starts each morning with a potty break and breakfast before spending a short stretch in her kennel while the kids head off to school — her least favorite part of the day, but she manages. Once she’s out, she has free roam of the house while her foster mom works from home, meaning she gets love and attention woven into every part of the day. She’s mostly an angel during this time… mostly. Every now and then a shoe or a stray item becomes too tempting to resist. Afternoons get even better with a lick pad and treats, and then the best moment arrives — her human siblings come home and it’s time for a walk! She’s comfortable and confident in her neighborhood, though new places and passing cars still make her a little nervous. She’s working on it! The evening winds down with dinner before bed, but not before Lydia makes her nightly attempt to sneak into her foster mom’s bed and pull off her most convincing “I’m a perfect angel” face. It never works — her foster mom knows better — but Lydia tries every single night without fail, and it’s impossible not to love her for it. The Smart Cookie: Don’t let the mischief fool you — Lydia is incredibly smart. She already knows sit, lay down, paw, beg, up, and roll over, which is impressive for a puppy still figuring out the world. She’s doing great with potty training too, heading outside when she needs to go, though she occasionally follows it up with a trip to the pee pad shortly after — she’s covering her bases! With consistency and patience, this girl is going to thrive. What Lydia Needs: Lydia would do best in a home that loves routine, stays active, and has people around to give her the attention she blossoms with. She needs someone who will match her energy, laugh at her antics, and keep working on her training with a gentle and consistent hand. In return, she’ll bring endless entertainment, unconditional love, and a whole lot of tummy-rub requests. Lydia is one of a kind — and the right family is going to be so lucky to have her! 🐾 ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue.
