Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, my name is Courage! My fosters don't know a lot about my history, but I came to them from a local shelter. My transition to home life has been going well; in less than 2 weeks I was sleeping through the night and learned a few tricks. Strangers are still hard for me, but the way to my heart is through food so that helps with introductions. I love to snuggle the lady on the couch, and go for runs with the fella, and while I still haven't played with their dog, we get along well. I have a little bit of anxiety but my confidence is building everyday; patience and consistency help a lot. I’m looking for my forever family and would love to meet you if you have patience and love for me. Courage is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
Mallory is a very smart Belgian Malinios, who would make a great dog for someone who loves dog sports, like agility, search and rescue, nose work, etc. This little girl is a pocket rocket, mixed with a snuggle bunny! She is good with other dogs, crate trained, food motivated, ball motivated, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed. Experience with the breed is a must, but if you have had working dogs in the past, she would be an easy, super fun dog to train! You can apply on our website at www.skylarsscholarships.org (the application is listed under the “more” tab.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 02/08/2021 Requires another dog in home: No, picky about her friends Okay with dogs of all sizes: Not good with small dogs - read more in profile  Okay with cats: No, dog savvy cats only Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, considerate kids only Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. I am an unpredictable gal with a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me; I’m reactive when it comes to other dogs or unknown/sudden sounds like bikes whizzing by etc.; and I’m a pack follower so if there’s a fight, I may feel compelled to join the chaos. That said, I went to a training facility where there were many other dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I may overcome these ‘quirks’ of mine!! Hee, hee! Anyway, my favorite activities include cuddling with my people; going for leashed walks; snoozing on the couch; eating; playing with squeaky toys; chewing on bones/sticks; chasing the cat; chilling with my canine sib; running zoomies; and barking at strangers outside! I don’t like a lot of commotion and have been known to bite if someone comes into the house when foster mom is not home. I am, however, a very smart girl who will not only give myself a kenneled ‘time-out’ if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! Hee, hee!! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bruce is a cheerful dog who thrives on love and attention. He delights in being pet and cherishes his stuffed toys. Preferring the proximity of his foster family, he happily follows them around the house, providing quiet companionship. A crate is uncomfortable for Bruce but when left alone he has run of the house and does very well just lounging around on his comfy dog bed. Bruce thrives in the company of other dogs, finding joy in social interactions, though he doesn't always like to share with his canine companions.   Check out this       video         of Bruce at the lake. Bruce is very loving and gentle with the adults and kids in his family but is very cautious with friends and visitors that come to the house. With slow introductions and positive reinforcement over time he has allowed others into his circle.  Upon entering rescue, Bruce was initially a neglected and debilitated dog, grappling with various health issues such as Lyme disease, a thyroid disorder, skin allergies, infections, and a sinus condition with a chronic unexplained cough. Through dedicated treatment and care, he has shown positive responses, but managing his well-being requires medications on both a daily and as-needed basis. Additionally, Bruce faces mobility challenges due to hip issues in both legs and a torn ACL in his right hind leg. While corrective FHO surgery is not currently an option, his quality of life is good but depends on limited yet regular physical activity, close monitoring, joint supplements, and prescribed pain management. Despite his physical limitations, Bruce adeptly uses a ramp for entering and exiting vehicles, finding joy in car ride adventures and short outings outdoors. He is a happy dog with a tail that is always wagging! Bruce is best suited to an environment with limited or no stairs due to his mobility challenges. Hard surface flooring is a challenge for him. Bruce is currently taking the following medications: carprofen, apoquel and levothyroxine. Ready to fall in love? Come and meet Bruce today! Bruce is from one of our northern reservation partners. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Peech! She's a gentle soul, still finding her confidence in this big world. She delights in spending time in the yard, reveling in the simple joys of rolling in the grass and chasing leaves. While she's making progress with house training, accidents still happen occasionally. Peech finds solace in her kennel, although she may vocalize her discomfort briefly when closed in. She's making strides in her nighttime routine, though she still needs to go out once or twice. Food and treats are her main motivators, and she's eager to please. Loud noises and sudden movements can startle her, but she's gradually learning to navigate her environment. While she may seem reserved, she secretly craves love and attention. Treats and getting down to her level can coax out some affection, although she's not yet initiating it herself. She enjoys walks if the other dog in the home is with.  She's observing the resident dogs closely, perhaps taking notes on how to build her own confidence. Peech hasn't encountered young children yet, and she remains cautious around adults. However, she's more likely to approach when they're seated or at her eye level. With patience, love, and time, she's sure to blossom into a more confident and playful companion. Peech does need to be adopted to a home with another dog.   Peech is from an owner surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there, I'm Diego! I'm thrilled to meet new folks and can't wait to meet you. My foster mom describes me as a big, friendly sweetheart, and people often compliment me on my looks. Mornings are my favorite, especially sitting on the deck with my foster mom, savoring the sounds of birds while she enjoys her coffee. I'm pretty skilled at going into my crate, although I'll express my discontent if I'm left out of the action when there's a lot of noise. I just want to join the fun! I'm well-versed in basic commands, sitting eagerly for treats and gently taking them. Toys are my passion! Whether it's stuffed, squeaky, or chewable, count me in. I'm even getting the hang of fetch. Leash training is a work in progress, but I'm improving. Walks help me burn energy, preparing me for cozy evenings on the couch with my humans. I'd happily be a lap dog when tired, settling for just being close to my people. If you want a handsome, clever companion who brings joy, I'm your match! Diego enjoys meeting new friends but may gently jump up, although a baby gate helps manage this. He interacted well with his Foster’s 8-year-old stepson and is gradually meeting the resident dog. Diego adores toys but needs supervision, as he may attempt to ingest stuffing. He's generally not destructive with toys and loves tug-of-war and squeakers. His adorable head tilt and smiling demeanor melt hearts. He's becoming more at ease, his wagging tail a testament to his comfort. Diego usually signals his desire to leave his kennel around 7 am, enjoying outdoor time and breakfast via a puzzle feeder. He's skilled at solving puzzles. He spends time with me on the deck, then returns to his kennel while I attend to my senior dog. He gets breaks for leash training and spends evenings hanging out with me, relishing meeting new people. He's particularly fond of my stepson and often ends the day dozing on the couch. Despite spending nights in his kennel, he willingly enters with a treat, although he vocalizes his desire to join the action. His least favorite part of the day is being separated. When relaxed, Diego crosses his front legs and showcases his endearing head tilt when listening. This handsome boy has a history of seizures and currently is taking daily medication. He is well controlled and we have not seen any seizures since entering rescue. Diego is from a local impound.
