Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. That said, I can be a bit reactive when it comes to other dogs and I have been known to whimper, bark, lunge, or even bite at them. Little dogs like Pugs or Bulldogs seem to be a trigger for me so although I would love to have a doggie companion at my new home, he/she would need to be a larger, alpha dog who’s already established in the home. I am, after all, a great guard dog and will think of the home as ‘MINE’ if another dog is brought in after me. Additionally, I’m a bit of a follower which means I like to follow the pack so if other dogs are fighting, I will too. That said, I did go to a training facility where there was 30+ dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I will overcome these quirks of mine!! Anyway, my favorite activities include spending time with and shadowing my people (even kids); going for leashed walks; chasing squirrels, bunnies, or birds (if given the chance); snoozing on the couch; eating food; playing with my toys; chilling with my resident doggie sib; running zoomies in a fenced yard; barking at the strangers/noises outside; and playing hide-n-seek with the cat. I admit I have a high prey drive, but I do well with a cat that can keep me in line! Hee, hee!! I don't require a fenced in yard, but if you don't have one, I need a home who can give me a walk or run each day. I don’t like a lot of commotion and if strangers come into the house when foster mom’s not there, I have been known to get a little uneasy and that can come out in the form of a growl or snap. I am a very smart girl who will not only give myself a ‘time-out’ in my kennel if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!!?!! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
