New places? Suspicious. New noises? Definitely suspicious. New people? Hmmm… Todd will need to review your application first. At just about a year old, Todd is still trying to figure out this whole being a dog in the world thing. Right now, his bravery meter may be running a little low, but every day he’s learning that life isn’t quite as scary as he thought—and that people might actually be pretty great. Give Todd a little time, patience, and the chance to feel safe, and you’ll start to see the real Todd peek out. And underneath that big, nervous exterior is an incredibly sweet, gentle boy just waiting to shine. Todd isn’t looking for someone to rush him. He’s looking for his person—the one who will celebrate the little victories, give him time to figure things out, and remind him that he’s safe. Sierra is another one of our embankment mals! She can still be slightly timid with new men, but is very social once she gets to know you! Sierra is a goofy goofy girl with a deformed front leg. That leg doesn’t slow her down one bit! Sierra is still super active and loves going for adventures in the car and on hikes. Sierra is still working on her doggy socialization skills and obedience, but is coming along well. She is crate trained and does walk well on leash. No small animals or dog parks for Sierra.

Story
Mamma Mia is part of our embankment mals! She and 6 others were rescued off a 20’ embankment. They had to be trapped and then the trap drug up the embankment to rescue them. They were all severely underweight and were very timid with people upon entering rescue. Considering the state they were in, these are some of the most forgiving and resilient dogs I’ve ever met. Mamma Mia is medium energy, crate trained, has started basic obedience and is big-dog social. She walks well on leash and has done well out in public!! She absolutely ADORES affection, likes playing with toys and is food driven. She’s very smart and was the protector of the other embankment dogs. The other mals took her lead for everything. Mamma adores people and gives anyone willing one of the best hugs you could imagine. Even with everything she’s been through, she is loving and appreciative. Mamma Mia would be OK for a first-time Malinois owner as long as you’re willing to take a little direction! She can be a little food-aggressive with other dogs, so we do recommend separated feeding- she’s GREAT in her crate and loves having her meals in there! No small animals for her.

Murphy is quite the referee with other dogs and would likely be happiest as an only dog with a human who takes him for adventures, hikes, camping… he loves alllllll the outdoor things! Murphy is a strong but sensitive fella who needs a patient, firm but fair handler, who will continue his training.
