A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we’re hopeful the right person is out there.Meet HiccupHiccup is a young puppy, born in early March 2026, who the shelter believes is a Malinois or Dutch Shepherd mix. He currently weighs about 32 pounds and is already showing the intelligence, drive, and focus that make these breeds so special.Hiccup has a unique personality for a puppy. He absolutely loves people and is extremelyaffectionate, playful, and attentive. He is also very dog friendly and enjoys interacting with bothpeople and other dogs. But Hiccup is not a puppy who will be happiest simply lounging aroundthe house all day. He is smart, intense, eager to learn, and clearly wants a job to do.The shelter thinks Hiccup could be an excellent candidate for someone interested in training, working with dogs, or potentially pursuing activities such as obedience, agility, scent work, orother working-dog activities. He has the kind of focus and engagement that makes you want tokeep teaching him new things. He would do best with an adopter or foster who understands thathis intelligence and energy need to be channeled in positive ways and who will enjoy giving himstructure, training, exercise, and a purpose.Hiccup is the type of puppy who could really thrive with the right person. He is incrediblypeople-oriented and wants to be involved with his humans, but he will need more than just abackyard and a few walks around the block. A home with someone who is interested in trainingand giving him a job would be ideal. Hiccup is fully vetting and ready to go!Hiccup is looking for someone who will recognize his potential and give him the opportunity tobecome the amazing dog we believe he can be. If you're looking for a smart, driven, affectionatepuppy and are excited about training and building a relationship with your dog, Hiccup could beyour guy.Age: Approximately 6 months (born early March 2026)Gender: Male (neutered)Weight: 32 lbsBreed: Malinois/Dutch Shepherd mix (best guess)Spayed/Neutered: YesPotty Trained: UnsureCrate Trained: UnsureLeash Manners: Working on it!Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnsureGood with Kids: Yes/very people friendlyHiccup is ready to leave the shelter and start the next chapter of his life in Wisconsin. Story
Kahla is a 2-year-old German Shepherd who narrowly escaped death at a high-kill California shelter and is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Highly affectionate and people-driven, she thrives on human companionship and loves nothing more than being snuggly by your side. She cherishes her humans and forms deep, loyal bonds with them. She has excellent recall and a solid foundation in basic obedience, making her both responsive and eager to please. Her training reflects her intelligence and eagerness to learn new things and she thrives on consistent routines and positive reinforcement. One notable aside: Kahla would do best as an only pet and can become intensely aroused when she sees other dogs. She's been working with a trainer, however, and with a calm, structured approach and controlled introductions, she continues to improve. She responds well to management and guidance from a confident handler, and she excels in environments with clear boundaries and predictable triggers. Her ideal home would consist of a single-family household with experienced owners who can provide daily mental and physical stimulation, simple secure space and ongoing, positive socialization. Kahla's devoted heart and trainable nature make her a wonderful, loving companion for the right family who can give her consistent love, attention, and leadership. She's currently located in Houston, TX but is eager to come to the Midwest for the right foster or adopter anytime!
